Chapter 90 Chapter 90: Happening So Fast
ARIANNA’S POV
“I should have realized this sooner” I let out, scrambling to my feet, my laptop held in my hands. I picked up my phone to call Lucien.
“He wouldn’t be able to speak on the phone right now” I muttered under my breath as I tried to communicate with him telepathically.
I was met with silence. I frowned; Lucien never blocks me out of his mind. What was going on? I shut down my laptop, shoving my feet into the pair of crocs I kept at the shoe rack.
Something about the way I couldn’t reach him had my heart freezing up with fear. What if Radiel had attacked once more catching him off guard?
My steps quickened with that, my heart pounding against my chest as I rushed out of the building to the garage.
I picked the first car I laid my eyes one, grabbing the key from where it hung at the entrance. I drove the car away from Lucien’s apartment, hoping I wasn’t too late.
As I sped towards the palace, things started to make sense then. How Radiel always seemed to know where exactly to make a hit.
There was a rat in our midst. I hadn’t thought it suspicious how he hadn’t been around through out the time Lucien was at the eastern palace.
I parked haphazardly in front of the palace before I flew out of the car. The sight of blood in the courtyard had me pausing for a bit, my blood freezing within my veins.
Had what I thought happened somehow? I rushed in then, my eyes searching through the halls for Lucien’s familiar figure.
I was pulled aside by someone, a scream building within my throat when the person slammed a hand over my mouth.
“Shh, I got you baby” My body melted into his with relief, tears of happiness sliding down my cheeks.
I turned to face him immediately he uncovered my lips, my hands squashing him into my body. “Thank you for staying alive” I whimpered out, pressing a kiss to his neck.
A low growl from somewhere in the palace had us both freezing. “What is going on?” I questioned, my voice a whisper.
“The call hadn’t been from Jerriq, someone used deep voice Ai to trick me into coming” He explained, his hands pushing me behind him slightly.
“I have something I need to tell you” I said to him as the growling sounds grew closer to where we stood.
“I think you would have to tell me later, Princess” He smiled at me just before he shot at a wolf. “Stay here!” He yelled as he took off, the wolves racing after him.
I couldn’t just stay there and do nothing while he fought for his life. I shot out from where I hid, my heart racing.
The palace was just like that in the East; which meant there would always be a tower top with a bell.
I dashed into the kitchen grabbing the ingredients I needed to make the plan that came to my mind.
“Look what I found, a pretty little omega” A wolf growled out, its yellowed teeth baring at me. I stilled my shaking hands, my teeth clenching with resolve.
“You didn’t find anything, smello” I gritted out, pouring the flour on the kitchen cabinet as a distraction.
The wolf let out a whine as I shot out of the kitchen, my legs covering as much distance between us as possible.
“I would rip you apart when I lay my hands on you!” I heard behind me. I shivered at the thought of been caught by the wolf.
I would make sure it didn’t happen. I panted as I got to the door leading to the tower top. “Where do you think you are going?” A woman snarled out, stepping out of the shadows.
“I don’t think that is any of your business” I replied, my gaze falling on her exposed arm. There seemed to be some type of symbol drawn there.
“Of course it does!” she lets out, flinging herself towards me. My reaction to her movement was slow causing me to hit the floor hard.
My hands stretched out to catch the ingredients I had been holding; I needed them in one piece for them to be effective.
“I don’t like people poking their nose into business” I let out, cracking my knuckles as I stood to my feet.
She let out a chuckle, her eyes becoming tinged with blood. What the hell? “What you are about to do is my business also” She gritted out, her leg shooting a kick at me.
I stopped the hit from colliding with my cheek just barely, the insane amount of strength in her legs making my bones quiver from stopping it.
There was something wrong with this woman. There was no way an ordinary wolf would be that powerful.
“You are no fun, might as well fight with a tree” She taunted, her hands pressing flat against the ground.
I said nothing, the sounds of gun going off underneath causing me to take a fighting stance. I had to go through my plan before Lucien went out of bullets.
“Come on then” I gestured to her as I cracked my neck.
I wiped at my nose with the back of my hand, blood staining my pale skin. “I would let your death be painless” The woman let out, her claws elongating.
My wolf surged to the front, keening for me to let her take control. My vision winked in and out, making the decision for me already.
I didn’t feel the shift happening, I only felt my wolf surging at the woman. Everything happened too fast for me to follow as curled up within myself.
A sharp sting of pain by my side had my eyes opening, the image before me shocking. The woman had thin strokes of injuries all over her including her face.
She rushed towards my wolf to land another hit when my wolf attacked as fast as lightening.
