Chapter 81 Chapter 81: I Just Have To Win
ARIANNA'S POV

“Good morning, Aria” Glory said immediately I stepped out of the elevator, her eyes taking me in.

“Good morning, why are you looking at me like that?” I questioned, a smile playing on my lips.

“I don't know, you seem…different” she muttered underneath her breath.

“You are one to talk” I shot back at her, my eyes looking pointedly at the mark on her scent spot.

Her hair was in a bun this morning, displaying her mate’s mark boldly.

Her eyes went wide, her hand covering the mark. Her cheeks turned red, eyes dropping to her feet.

“Hey, what's wrong?” It was a different thing if she was just feeling bashful.

She looked…as if she did something wrong. “Don't…Don't you think it is weird for me to be mated to him?” She questioned, her eyes not meeting mine.

“No, I don't. But is there even a reason for me to?” I questioned softly, raising her head up.

Her eyes swam with…guilt. There was more to her story than she was letting on.

But I wasn't going to pry into it if she didn't want to talk about it.

“No, you are right. I am just feeling unusually emotional this morning” She stepped away from my touch, her lips ticking up in a shaky smile before she walked into her office.

I moved to follow her but I stopped. It was obvious she needs time to calm down.

I unlocked my office, a sigh escaping me as I stepped in.

The thought of the upcoming duel and my appointment with my doctor weighed heavily on my mind.

I opened my laptop, clicking on the recent case I was working on. The case I was working on was that of a company that had been sued by their organization for theft.

It was a top fashion design company, Deluxe, who were fairly new to the city. The organization suing them, FDG, had been the stage on which they made their debut.

It was like a mother suing her child at this point. It stated here that FDG had paid off a debt Deluxe had owed due to a failed fashion show.

There was no concrete evidence that Deluxe had owed the any money in the first place. It was a wonder how they had managed to make up a case about it.

I needed to speak to the CEO od Deluxe, at this point there seems to be something else apart from the debt that FDG seems to be angry about.

“Selene, good morning” I said into the call immediately she picked the call. “Good morning, who I am speaking with please?” She questioned.

“It’s Arianna from the Law firm you presented your case to”

“Oh, Attorney Arianna. Thanks for picking up our case” She let out. “You are welcome. I need to ask you a couple of question”

“Does FDG have any feud with your company apart from the debt they paid off for you?” I asked, needing to confirm my theory.

“No, not that I know of.” That cemented my suspicion. FDG was trying to absorb Deluxe into them. Most likely they were jealousy of the success Deluxe had made.

“I would call you if I have more questions” I said into the call before I hung up the call. For the first time in a while, I logged in to my socials.

I tracked the accounts of the members of FDG, curious to see if anyone of them had slipped up about their ‘plan’.

As I flipped through one boring video to another, one caught my attention, the member’s page I was stalking appeared drunk in the video.

I checked the date on the video; it was posted early this morning. One thing stood out in the video, she had mentioned how that ‘Selene bitch would get what is coming for her’.

I screen recorded the video just as the video was deleted. Thank the goddess I had got into her page quick enough.

That alone wouldn’t be enough to eradicate their claim about my clients stealing from them. I stalked the top member’s page.

Her page was clean, she only made posts about yoga and how people needed to breath the earth; whatever that meant.

I left her page and was about to log out once more when I noticed a blurred video at the bottom of her page.

Curious, I clicked on the video. My hand covered my mouth at what I saw. Selene was on her knees as Mandi, the top member, poured a bucket full of a red substance over her.

The post had just been made not quite long. How could anyone do something like this to another person?

I was going to make FDG goes down hard. It was time to go a little bit undercover. Evidence is never too much.

I grabbed my coat off the hanger, my knuckles rapping against Glory’s door. “I am going out for a bit” I said to her as I poked my head into her office.
All the members of FDG were present when the incident had happened, laughing and giggling as young Selene bawled her eyes out.

It just didn’t make sense how any wolf could do that to another wolf. I stepped out of the firm, entering into my car.

My destination was one of FDG’s subdivision, Sleek artistry. It was at the next town, but thankfully I had my car.

As I drove down the highway, I wondered why people acted the way they do. My mind flashed towards Lyra; the taunts she threw at me while Kieran and I were together.

While I would never understand how her mind works, it was obvious she wasn’t truly in love with Kieran but the thought of me ‘taking him away from her’ must have driven her up a wall.

I shouldn’t even have them on my mind. I pulled my car to a halt in front of the store. Apart from the fact that this was my first case after receiving a promotion, I needed to get justice for the young girl who had knelt on the floor covered in red goop.

I had to win the case.
