Chapter Eighty-Four: Rosaline Warren

The only sound which echoed through the empty halls of the palace were the clicking sounds of my heels on the marble flooring. My heart pounded in my chest as the budding fear which I have tried to keep down begins to make its way through my feelings, the words of Griffin telling me I would be just fine was the voice which kept me level, perhaps I needed that visit from him more than I would have thought.

The other feeling in the air was anticipation, there was a lot riding on this event and with the papers I had been shown leading up, a lot of planning paired with it. Griffin had been correct; I had a lot resting on my shoulders not to mess this up. The maids which had helped me get ready walked beside me, smiles on their faces with their hands behind their backs, they had done their jobs of getting me ready and now could relax, but my part to play in this had only just begun.

Before long, we arrive outside of the huge golden doors which led into the even larger ballroom I had seen the night of the dinner party. From what I had seen, many important individuals were all waiting inside of that room to see me walk down the isle and be crowned. What also took me by surprise, as like many places in this palace, there were two guards outside of the room but had blindfolds covering their eyes. I thought their job was to look out for danger and prevent it from happening, I don’t know about them, but for me that seemed impossible if their eyes were covered!

But I soon remember what had been discussed many times already, the only male who is allowed to see me first is Max. Well technically, second, Griffin had snuck his way in to give me some much-needed words of encouragement, but that fact can stay between us.

As I stood there with my hands placed in front of me and my beautiful dress staring at the doors, I begin to take deep and slow breaths to calm my nerves. I kept telling myself that in a few moments, this entire spectacle would be over and the stress and deep-rooted worry which was swirling around my head would be gone.

Soft sounding music began to play from the ballroom telling me it was time for this event to take place, once the double doors were opened and Max stood there watching me, any ounce of worry that had once clouded my vision, was gone in a matter of seconds.

He stood there in the doorway, wearing one of his very posh suits which had been straightened out to perfection. An extremely heavy looking crown from the photo I had seen with his parents rested on his head, whilst his beautiful smile sat on his lips as he looked at me.

“You look absolutely gorgeous baby.” He tells me looking me up and down with that same smile on his lips, whilst I blush a little but did have to look him up and down too.

“You don’t look half bad yourself.” I say with a little chuckle to lighten the mood, I knew if I didn’t laugh in this moment, I was probably going to cry from fear.

He simply smiles, taking a stop forward to close the gap between he whilst placing a soft kiss on my lips, the sparks which I always feel whenever we touch send a warm calming sensation to run through my body.

“Now take a deep breath, I will be right by your side the entire time.” He says placing his hands to rest on my shoulders, probably sensing how scared I was feeling through our mate bond.

I do as he says and take a deep breath in and out with my eyes locked to his, once I was finished, he sends me another smile whilst walking to stand beside me, his arm up ready for me to take so I could be led down the isle which was giving me much anxiety in this moment. Now that Max had moved away from the door, I was clearly able to see the ballroom and the long isle, a fancy deep red carpet sat on the floor leading down to the little area where I was to be crowned as Queen. Either side of the isle sat rows and rows of people, all sitting in anticipation for me and Max to begin our journey past them.

The once soft music begins to change for the second time to more orchestra type music, this indicating to me the time of hiding had come to an end. Where with another deep breath, Max began to lead me towards the ballroom and through the grand doors giving everyone watching the first sight of me in my beautiful gown. As soon as we stepped through the doors, the atmosphere shifted in such a way I could have fell to the floor.

But knowing I now had a job to do, I put my head up high and feet one in front of the other allowing Max to guide me towards the end. As I took a look to the many people sat in attendance, nothing but huge smiles sat on their faces as they watched us pass by. Turning my head back to the front, I spot Fred, also in a very posh looking suit looking over at me with such a kind smile. But on the other side stood Guy, as I looked at him in the eyes, I couldn’t shake the feeling of dread and despair that radiated from him, a sense I had never experienced in my life before.

But any such feelings were soon dashed from my mind when we arrived at the edge of the isle, Max placing a kiss on my head before climbing the three small steps to join the other two guys and face towards me and the audience behind me. I soon lock eyes with the most beautiful crown beside Fred, one in around a minute, would be placed on my head.

“Good afternoon, you are all present to witness this historic moment of my beautiful mate, being crowned Queen. It is beyond an honour for me to be able to gift you all this wonderful person stood right in front of me. I am the luckiest man alive that I am able to call this woman mine and for you to call her your Queen.” Max speaks in his very powerful voice looking over at the crowd who hung onto his every word, before looking down at me with such happiness on his face.

“Miss Rosaline Warren, do you herby swear to honour and protect each and every person which you reign over?” Max asks the first series of oaths that I will need to swear to.

“I do.” I say ensuring my voice was as loud and powerful as I could make it, a voice crack would not be a good look in this type of setting or situation.

“Miss Rosaline Warren, do you herby swear to forever remain at the side of the King, his majesty Maxwell Harvick, and aid him in any task or challenge that he may face?” He asks which once again, was a more than easy oath to swear, I didn’t need this title to do that.

“I do.” I repeat with a little smile looking over at Max, who sends me a sly wink before turning around to take the heavy looking crown into his hands turning back around to face me as I knelt slightly.

He holds the crown over my hand to remain in the air for a few seconds, the many jewels and diamonds glittered in the sun which shone through the huge windows at the top of the ballroom.

“I now crown you Her Majesty, Queen Rosaline Warren.” He says in another powerful voice before the beautiful crown is soon rested on top of my head, the sudden weight as a little bit of a shock but after a couple of seconds, I was able to balance and look up to Max as the entire place erupted in rather loud cheers and applause.

The smile of happiness and appreciation didn’t leave his lips as he moves his hand down to take mine, placing my hand in his, he helps guide me up the three little steps. On my journey, I lock eyes with Fred who also wore a smile on his lips and clapping his hands, but his reaction didn’t compare to the one I saw when I turned around to face the crowd beside Max. Each person had smiles on their faces and where cheering and clapping to their hearts content. In the distance outside, a series of loud howls could be heard ringing out across the land.

My cheeks began to hurt due to me smiling so much as I turned to look at Max, who was already looking over at me before leaning closer and placing a soft kiss on my lips. This action only causing the crowd to cheer even louder, both of us laughing looking in each others' eyes as my hands remained on his face.

I’m now officially, Queen of all werewolves.
