Chapter 93 - The Alpha King and the Shadow
After about 30 minutes of laying there a mindlink comes through.
“Uhh.. are you guys ready for the pack run?” Markus says. I begin to laugh and Alarick chuckles, even though I feel his annoyance.
“We will be down in 10 minutes.” Alarick answers. I get up and grab a robe that Alarick got me for the run.
“Are you sure you want to run? I know you haven’t shifted in years.” He says, looking at me worriedly.
“Yes.” Fen answers for me and he smiles. After we clean up a little so that we are decent, he takes my hand and leads me to the grounds. Once we arrive on the podium everyone erupts in cheers as they see that we have fully mated and marked each other. My face gets red, but I still hold my head high.
“Let the pack run begin.” Alarick says, successfully quieting everybody. He shifts and then I let Fen take over. It is not as painful as I thought it would be considering we haven’t shifted in years. After We shift we turn around to see all the wolves that have yet to shift. They are staring at us, some gasp when they see. Fen is a white wolf, and when the moon is shining bright it almost looks like we are glowing blue. Some say that it is a blessing and legend is that we were sent to save people. Others think it is a curse or that white wolves should be put down. This is because of our strength, both physically and mentally. Maybe that is why I went through all of those terrible things, so that I could know that those horrible places existed and I could put an end to them, while saving others. I have always looked at what happened to me as a punishment, or a curse turning me into a monster. But now, when I look into the eyes of Onin, my other half, my mate, I see that I was far from wrong. He looks at me as though I hold the moon in the sky.
Onin is a big pitch black wolf with gold eyes, indicating his royal blood. An old story that my mother used to tell me rolls through my head.
Only when the black as night king meets his white of snow queen will the world see progress and peace. Through them all suffering will end.
“Luz de la luna reina.” (Queen moon light) I hear echoed through the mind link.
“What is your wolf’s name?” Alarick asks me through the link.
“Fengari.” I answer and I see his wolf's eyes sparkle.
“Moon. That is fitting. You truly are one of a kind. You and your wolf are beautiful and I cannot express how happy I am that the goddess chose you for me and me for you. We are equals and you continue to prove that to me in everything you do.” He then begins to howl. I do the same as everybody joins in. We begin the pack run. During the run Fen and I look around. We see our family and friends near us and all other packs and their members running along the side of us. This is home, Alarick is our home. We have found the place that we belong.
4 Years Later
Alarick and I are sleeping on the bed when the door bursts open and people are bouncing on our bed.
“Raaaaa” I hear and look up at the little monster bouncing and tackling me and Alarick.
“RAAAA” Alarick growls as he grabs the three children and starts tickling them. “What have I told you about bouncing on the bed and waking your mother while she is carrying your little sisters?” He asks them.
“Not to do it.” One of the kids shout.
“Exactly. Now go get ready for the day, it's family day.” He says as he sets the children down and they start yelling in excitement out of the door. He looks over to me and smiles, leaning over to kiss me then moves to my bulging belly.
“Goodmorning, my queen.” He says huskily.
“Good morning… My king.” I say back, kissing him again.
In the four years since we have mated we have had 3 children, all within months of each other. Because the pregnancy is only 5 months for wolves they are all close in age. Three rambunctious boys with twin sisters on the way. These girls are going to be so spoiled and protected they won’t know what to do.
It turns out that the night of Maleena’s party Amara finally was able to reject her mate, and her second chance was Markus. They just had their second child and are still bickering like always, but it's more out of love now instead of hate.
Maleena graduated the top of her warrior class and is now the top trainer for tracking, while Lucas is in the new enforcer position. He goes around to each pack ensuring laws are being followed and enforces them when they are not. It requires a lot of travel, but Maleena only has to be her for part of the year for training so she goes with him a lot.
Garret and his mate, Nina, are doing well. They have another child on the way as well. Turns out I get along with Nina very well. She is very headstrong and gives Garret a run for his money.
Garret’s sister Kyndra is hilarious as well. All of us girls, Me, Kyndra, Amara, and Nina, hangout at least 2 times a week to give us all a reprieve from the kids and to have fun. Everyone is doing as well as can be expected with all of these kids running around.
Also in the four years Alarick and I have cleaned up all the packs, ensuring that there is fair treatment across the board. What the packs were lacking before was reprimand and involvement from the royal pack. All of the hunter’s have been eradicated and we have a more peaceful relationship with witches and wizards. Everything I want to do is not complete and we still have a long way to go but we have made a lot of progress.
