Chapter 16

Chapter 16
I couldn’t get close to Flora; they took her somewhere, but they assured me she’d be fine.
According to Seth, werewolves really do have bodies that heal super fast.
Seth was a nice guy and had been overly friendly with me. I believed part of it might be because I was carrying the prophecy’s baby, but maybe I was wrong—maybe he was just being himself.
“Is everything okay here?” Peta’s voice pulled me from my thoughts, and I dropped the cloth stained with blood and spices I was using to clean Seth’s wound.
“Everything’s fine.”
“All good, boss.” Seth straightened his posture and gave a nod.
“Good. Seth, you can go home, kid.”
I looked at Peta, who gave the order calmly and spoke to Seth as if he were a teenager. But then I remembered he was probably my age, and everyone around us was older than us.
“Yes, sir. Thanks for taking care of me, Lady of Fire.”
I smiled at the nickname he gave me. I wasn’t a lady of anything; I didn’t even know how to make fire.
“You’re welcome, Seth.” He left quickly, and I turned to Peta. Even though I knew he was on my side, we didn’t have much to talk about. “I’m going to look for Alice.” I stood up from the floor and nearly fell back down, but Peta’s strong arms caught me.
“Have you eaten today?”
“I’m fine. I’m going to—”
“I bet you haven’t. Your lips are pale, and I’m sure it’s not from all the blood you’ve seen here.” He wrapped his arm around my waist, steadying me against his body. “Come on, Alice is recovering. Meanwhile, you eat!”
“No need, Peta. I’ll—”
“Listen, I don’t care what my brother thinks or says out there. You’re not just carrying my nephew; you’re a person who helped our people and deserves all the recognition for it, especially since you were more deceived than he was in this story.” He smiled and pointed to the path ahead. “Will you let me take you to eat?”
I looked at the man holding me. The determination in his eyes was contagious, and something stirred in my stomach when I remembered how much he looked like his brother.
“I hope there’s something good to eat here.” I gave a wide smile. He flashed a faint grin and helped me out of there.
Peta took me to the kitchen, where the women there helped me and put a mountain of food at my disposal.
After that, he led me upstairs, to the same floor I’d been on with Quanah a month ago.
“You’ll stay in this room.” He pointed to the second-to-last door in the hallway. “My room’s right across from yours. If you need anything, anything at all, just call me.”
I nodded in response and entered the room on autopilot, but I couldn’t stop thinking that the room at the end of the hallway was his.
Hell, how would I get him out of my head?
I took a hot shower and tried not to think about the insufferable man, but no matter where my thoughts went, they returned to him. If I thought about my baby, it was inevitable not to think of him. If I thought about the whole mess I’d gotten into, it led back to him. Even just remembering Flora turning into a wolf, I couldn’t avoid imagining what he must look like in wolf form.
I threw myself onto the bed, begging for sleep to come quickly so I wouldn’t think about anything else. I was overwhelmed and didn’t even want to think about how much worse it would get when I started training my powers.
But luckily, sleep enveloped me quickly, and I managed to rest. Even though I’d spent days in bed, this sleep felt peaceful for the first time in days.
I woke up rested and recharged, rolling lazily in the sheets, reluctant to get up. But the sound of my stomach growling forced me out of bed to find something to eat.
I opened the door and was greeted by silence; there wasn’t a soul in the hallway.
I stared at the wooden door of Quanah’s room, and an insane urge to go in there hit me. I approached with small steps, trying to be as discreet as possible.
My fingers touched the handle, but of course, the door was locked. I should’ve known.
“Looking for something?” His unmistakable voice echoed in the hallway, sending shivers through every hair on my body and putting me on alert.
“Curiosity.” I answered without turning around. I didn’t have the courage to face him now that I’d been caught trying to enter his room.
I felt his body close to mine; the heat radiating from him hit me. I didn’t hear his silent steps, but it didn’t take long for his hard chest to press against my back.
If I moved forward, I’d be trapped between his body and the wood.
“Curiosity killed the cat.” He leaned down, his breath hitting my hair. “Were you looking for me, little witch?”
His words made my blood boil with all the contempt and mockery he put into “little witch.” He was trying to belittle me, but I wouldn’t let it slide.
I turned, fist clenched, ready to punch his face, but he was faster, grabbing my arm in the air and pinning it above my head against the door.
“Let me go, you asshole!” I tried to slap him with my left hand, but it was even more pathetic than before. “What do you think? That I’d actually come looking for you?”
Quanah held me effortlessly, with both my hands pinned to the door, I was at his mercy.
“I don’t think; I see. And all I saw was you trying to open my room’s door.”
“I already said it was curiosity. Believe me, the last thing I wanted was to have to look at your face.”
“Oh, no, darling.” He said sarcastically, stepping closer, forcing me to meet his unsettling eyes. “I don’t think you want to look at my face, but sit on it, that you do.”
“You presumptuous piece of shit.” I tried to kick him, but he easily dodged my attack, and the next second, his leg was wedged between mine. “Once was enough.”
I was sweating with his closeness. Why the hell couldn’t he just go after someone else and leave me alone?
“Once? We both know it was a lot more than that.” His knee pressed against my pussy, and I held my breath. “Or do you want me to refresh your memory?”
I wouldn’t hold out long, not when that massive man looked at me like I was his favorite meal and he was starving.
He rubbed his knee, finding my sensitive spot, and I gasped, cursing myself when he raised that damned eyebrow, showing he’d won.
Instead of letting me go, having proven his point, he kept moving his knee back and forth. I sighed, unable to control myself.
Quanah gathered my wrists and held them with one hand, sliding the other down my body, tracing the curve of my breast and moving to the hem of my shirt.
“So hot.” His hand slid up my abdomen, reaching my breast. His large, calloused palm cupped its entirety and squeezed. I pushed my torso toward him, wanting more. “I don’t even need to touch you to know how wet you are. I can smell your arousal dripping between your legs.”
I moaned and closed my eyes as he circled my nipple and rubbed his knee against me. I could come like this. He could pull down my pants and fuck me against the door in that hallway, and I wouldn’t care.
It felt like it was just the two of us in the world, and all I needed to survive was his touch.
I bit my lip to control my sounds, but he pressed his body against mine. My leg now wrapped around his hip as he rubbed me with his knee.
Quanah buried his face in the curve of my neck and kissed me there, rubbing his thick beard against my skin before licking and sucking.
I couldn’t hold back and rocked my hips against his knee, increasing the friction and my pleasure.
“That’s it, moan for me. I never tire of hearing your moans.” He inhaled deeply against my neck, driving me even crazier. “And that scent—I think I’m addicted to that sweet pussy.”
It was too much to handle. We moved in sync, me riding his knee as he squeezed, twisted, and pinched my nipple.
His voice whispering those words in my ear didn’t help either. I was too close to the edge.
“Parker…” I moaned his name like a prayer. He bit my earlobe and massaged my sensitive nipple, making me see stars and try to close my legs.
His movements quickened, and I exploded.
“That’s it, come for me!” He growled as I shuddered, standing against the door, held up only by his body. “Fucking hot, damn woman, what have you done to me?”
I heard his voice, but I was too far gone to care what he was saying.
I wanted more, wanted him inside me, stretching me with his big cock.
“Quanah!” A voice from the end of the hallway put us on alert. “They’re calling you downstairs.”
“I’ll be right there!” He shouted and stared at me with those twin pools of gold. “Don’t come near my room again, witch. And if you want easy sex, find someone else. This ends here!”
With the same speed he’d grabbed me, he let me go. I had to hold onto the doorframe to keep from collapsing.
The jerk marched off down the hallway, leaving me there aroused and full of rage.
Who did he think he was? And why had I been so stupid? It was time to start controlling my emotions. That idiot didn’t deserve anything from me! Especially not this surrender I gave him every time he got close.
This had to stop!
