Epilogue

Luna Audra’s POV:

Dominic has been gone for quite some time trying to find Charity, I don’t understand what exactly is going on. I had a long talk with my son almost slapping him upside the head for some of the things that he said to Charity. I swear, I thought I raised him better than that.

I hear a loud crash from somewhere and go running outside to see what the commotion is all about.

Dominic is in a hell storm. Flipping tables, throwing chairs, destroying all the hard work that this whole pack has put into making the ceremony a beautiful one.

“Dominic Lucas Furi, what has gotten into you?” I yell at him.

He stops when he hears his full name. He is breathing heavily, and I can tell that his wolf is very close to the surface by the darkness in his eyes.

“There’s not going to be a ceremony mother. It’s been cancelled. Everything has been cancelled. It’s over,” he says in a menacing tone.

An uncertain fear has started in the pit of my stomach.

“Dominic, where’s Charity?”

He starts throwing things again but manages to get out, “Gone. She’s gone.”

I clutch a hand over my heart. This poor couple, they have never really had a chance to fully mate and really bond. The mating ceremony was supposed to give them that opportunity. But this whole threat from Ofelia really has my blood boiling. It is taking everything I have not to go and rip her head off. But I am not that wolf anymore. I am a Luna. I need to do things with dignity and grace.

I walk over to my son grabbing him to get him to get ahold of himself. Looking around I could see our pack members were worried they had not seen Dominic act like this since his father died and he had to take over as Alpha.

“Dominic, you need to put yourself together. You are an Alpha act like one,” I tell him as I start to push him towards the packhouse.

I take in a breath and notice a different scent coming from my son. I narrow my eyes at him.

“You need to go into your office right now and you better explain everything to me,” I tell him in a hushed whisper that only he could hear.

He gives me an awkward look but nods his head and continues to head into the packhouse.

“My apologies everyone. It seems that the ceremony will be postponed for now. We appreciate all the hard work that you put into this. As soon as I know more about the situation, I will let you know. Everyone if you could please help clean all this up. Thank you.”

Everyone starts to clean up all the decorations and start collecting the chairs and tables. I give a sympathetic smile once more and then turn to walk into the packhouse.

On the outside, I may look cool, calm, and collected. But on the inside, I am raging. Just what in the world is my son up to.

I walk up to his office and shut the door.

Dominic is pacing the floor.

“Dominic, you tell me right now what is going on? Where is Charity and why has your scent changed?”

“Mom, I will tell you everything. But the important thing is we need to make sure that it looks like Charity has run away and we are not together.”

“What? Why would she run away? This makes no sense whatsoever,” I tell him as I pinch the bridge of my nose.

He puts his hands around my arms as he directs me to the couch that is in his office. We sit down and I stare at him ready to hear everything.

He pauses for a while trying to figure out how to explain all this.

“Maybe you should start with when you found Charity.”

He takes a deep breath.

“I found Charity in the cabin that I built over by the smaller river bridge. She had stayed there for the night, I guess. I told her I was sorry for the things I said. Mom, she found out that she is pregnant. Mom, she is carrying my pup.”

“Dominic, that’s wonderful. But this still makes no sense. Continue,” I tell him with a bit of annoyance in my tone.

“If Charity stayed here while we had the war with Ofelia’s pack, I would be more worried about her and whether or not I am able to keep Ofelia from finding her and fighting her. So, I came up with a plan for Charity to leave.”

I stand up immediately, yelling, “WHAT??”

“Mom, please sit back down.”

“Dominic Lucas Furi, I cannot believe that you told your pregnant mate to leave.”

“Mom, I did it so that I can keep her safe. I have no idea who is siding with Ofelia, and I needed it to look like she left due to the threat of the pack.”

“So that’s why you completely destroyed everything outside, so you looked like the outraged Alpha with a broken heart.”

“Yes, so that everyone believes that Charity is actually gone.”

I sit there for a moment pondering this ridiculous scheme that my son has come up with.

“So, I guess the reason that your scent is different now is because you and Charity finally completed the bond?”

“Yes, that way we could be connected.”

“Why didn’t you just ask me to help you with all this? I would have figured something out. Where did you send her?”

“I don’t know,” he says with a shrug.

My eyes grow large, and even my wolf is growing impatient.

“What do you mean you don’t know?”

“We did this so that there is no way for them to think that this is a plot.”

“So, what is your plan for taking care of Ofelia?” I ask him while crossing my arms over my chest.

He leans over, placing his elbows on his knees and his face in his hands. He takes a deep breath and lowers his hands before he looks at me cautiously. “Mom, I need your help with this fight against Ofelia.”

I let out a sigh and my shoulders drop a bit letting the tension that I was holding out.

“You know I am here for you, son. I will do whatever you need me to do,” I tell him as I put my hand on his shoulder.

“You’ll have to do some things you have not done in a really long time.”

I take a deep breath. As I tilt my head from side to side, my wolf getting excited inside me at just thought.

“Son, you know I will do anything for your happiness and getting Charity back. Just tell me what you need.”

“Mom, are you still in contact with The Lotus?”
