Chapter 99 Samuel Is Hers
Jeremy didn't dare delay. He quickly left the room, remembering to close the door behind Samuel.
York hurried to catch up and asked in a low voice, "There's a backup?"
"Yeah." Jeremy sighed and said, "Thank goodness that new guy in the tech department has a habit of making backups, otherwise we'd all be in deep trouble!"
York sighed, "Who would've thought someone would have the guts to break through our firewall? And actually succeed!"
Jeremy said with a stern face, "From now on, we need to be more careful with everything we do. We can't let anyone find loopholes again. This mistake happened because we were too confident. We need to change that."
York wrinkled his nose.
"Why do you suddenly sound just like Mr. Crawford?"
Jeremy glared at him.
"Cut the crap! Let's get to work! To avoid any more problems, we need to restore the video as soon as possible."
York didn't care much.
"What difference does it make whether we restore it or not? Mr. Crawford has already decided that the person that day was Ms. Richardson."
"What if he's wrong?"
York cared even less.
"So what if he's wrong? Even if the person in the video isn't Ms. Richardson, Mr. Crawford has already fallen for Ms. Richardson, hasn't he?"
Jeremy shook his head.
"That's two different things. Mr. Crawford has always been someone who repays kindness many times over. If it wasn't that person, Mr. Crawford might have been kicked out of the Crawford family long ago. That woman is Mr. Crawford's benefactor. If it's not Ms. Richardson, he'll have to repay the favor in some other way."
"True."
The two walked away while talking.
Before long, a scantily dressed figure appeared in the second-floor hallway.
She had been crouching for a long time, finally waiting for Samuel's two subordinates to leave.
She didn't know what had happened, but these two had stayed in Samuel's room for so long that her legs had gone numb!
But thinking about what might happen next, Alice quickly recovered her strength.
Samuel, tonight, you'll be mine.
Alice pulled herself together and knocked on Samuel's door, swaying her hips.
Samuel had just been about to shower and had already taken off his shirt, revealing his muscular physique.
Hearing the knock, Samuel instinctively thought it was Jeremy coming to report something, so he didn't put his shirt back on and simply said, "Come in."
Alice immediately pushed the door open.
Before her eyes was Samuel's strong, well-proportioned body.
His shoulders were broad, his eight-pack abs clearly defined with not an ounce of excess fat, his Adonis Belt disappearing into his pants, showing signs of regular exercise.
This physique made Alice's mouth water.
She had originally planned to seduce Samuel, but after just one look, she found herself attracted instead.
She could even relate to how men felt when seeing a hot woman—like her whole body was on fire.
Never mind anything else, just this body alone was enough to make her weak in the knees.
Not to mention that impossibly handsome face.
Samuel thought it was Jeremy and didn't look toward the door.
It wasn't until the person at the door hadn't made a sound for several seconds that he looked up.
He saw Alice in a slip dress, her eyes bright and fixed on him.
His brows immediately furrowed, and his expression darkened.
"Why is it you? Get out!"
Alice didn't mind Samuel's attitude at all. She walked forward in a few steps, about to wrap her arms around Samuel's waist.
But before her hands could touch Samuel, her stomach suddenly hurt, and she was kicked flying, crashing heavily into the door.
Alice groaned in pain, her eyes full of terror.
She was only wearing a slip dress with nothing underneath, top or bottom.
She had thought Samuel would at least have some reaction, but not only was he completely unmoved, he had struck her so hard.
It was as if tenderness toward women didn't exist in Samuel's world at all.
"Mr. Crawford, I—"
"I'll say it one more time. Get out! Otherwise, today will be your last day!"
Samuel's eyes were full of violence, shooting out a murderous coldness.
Alice shuddered violently in fear. Ignoring the pain in her stomach and back, she scrambled up to run outside.
However, just as she reached the door, Samuel's voice suddenly came from inside.
"Stop."
Alice's steps halted abruptly, and hope rekindled in her terrified eyes.
She knew it!
All men are the same.
No man can refuse a woman who throws herself at him.
Especially when that woman takes good care of herself and maintains her figure.
Alice excitedly turned back around. Despite the severe abdominal pain, she still managed to force what she thought was a seductive smile.
"Mr. Crawford."
Her voice was sweet enough to drown someone.
However, before Alice's happiness could last more than three seconds, she heard Samuel's cold voice say, "Did you run into Amelia that day?"
Alice froze.
He wasn't interested after all?
Then she heard Samuel's voice turn even colder: "Answer!"
That terror wrapped around Alice again.
She swallowed hard and asked, "Who's Amelia?"
"A woman."
Here, except for a female cook, everyone else was male.
As long as Alice had seen Amelia, she would definitely know who he was talking about.
Sure enough, he clearly noticed a change in Alice's expression.
It was a guilty expression.
"I—I did see a woman. Why?"
Samuel narrowed his eyes and asked with a cold laugh, "Did you tell her you were my girlfriend?"
Alice panicked inside, but her survival instinct made her quickly shake her head.
"No, I never said anything to her."
Samuel laughed, but the sound sent a bone-chilling coldness through the air.
He approached Alice step by step, his whole body radiating violence.
"I wondered why she was so sure I had a girlfriend. Turns out it was you causing trouble."
Alice instinctively shook her head.
"I didn't."
As soon as the words left her mouth, her neck was gripped tightly.
Her breathing instantly lost its freedom, and she felt the despair of suffocation.
She heard Samuel say, "Do you know that she's the girl I fell for at first sight? She'll be the mistress of this place in the future. But you made her think I'm a bad man who's unfaithful in relationships. Tell me, how should I repay you?"
He deliberately emphasized the word "repay," making Alice feel inexplicably terrified.
"I'm sorry."
She squeezed out these words from her throat with difficulty, not daring to continue denying it.
"If sorry worked, what would I, Samuel, be for?"
His eyes turned cold, and the force in his hand suddenly increased.
Alice felt herself increasingly unable to breathe. The fear of death made her struggle desperately, but she couldn't break free at all.
Samuel truly intended to kill her.
Alice's heart filled with regret.
If she had known Amelia was so important to Samuel, she wouldn't have dared say those things even with ten thousand times the courage.
She had really thought Amelia was the same kind of person as her.
Someone trying to climb into Samuel's bed.
She never imagined Amelia was the person Samuel cherished most.
It wasn't Amelia trying to chase Samuel—it was Samuel trying to chase her.
But now,
it was too late for regret.
