Chapter 55 He is Showing Goodwill
Amelia couldn't be bothered to keep arguing about whether he had a girlfriend or not, so she directly showed him the door.
"It's getting late. Mr. Crawford is such a busy man, you should hurry back."
"No rush," Samuel said. "I haven't finished this glass of water yet."
Amelia suppressed the urge to beat Samuel up, clenching her fists as she said, "Then drink it quickly."
And leave as soon as you're done.
Every extra second spent with him made her worry she'd end up on the criminal news.
When they first met, she didn't think he was this shameless. How did he get more shameless each time?
Samuel and Zachary's personalities were complete opposites.
Zachary talked pretty normally, but the things he did were all shady.
Samuel, on the other hand, didn't seem to do anything shady, but his mouth was incredibly annoying.
She watched as Samuel put his jacket back on and sat down in the chair slowly and deliberately.
He just took a light sip before setting down the teacup.
"Oh right, I forgot to ask you something. A year ago, did you go to the hot springs at Regal Gardens Hotel in Thornfield?"
As he spoke, his eyes locked onto Amelia, not missing any micro-expression on her face.
Amelia frowned slightly.
"A year ago? Why are you asking?"
"Ms. Richardson just needs to answer me, otherwise, I'm afraid this glass of water will take me a very long time to drink."
This damn Samuel.
Amelia said through gritted teeth, "I often go to Regal Gardens Hotel for hot springs because it's good for the body. Especially for those of us who practice Combat Arts. Why?"
Her expression was natural, showing no signs of anxiety or panic.
Although she admitted to going to the hot springs at Regal Gardens Hotel, it didn't seem to be the answer he wanted.
Maybe too much time had passed and she'd forgotten what happened a year ago?
That shouldn't be right.
That kind of thing, a girl should remember for life.
Because even he often dreamed about that day.
Even though his mind was unclear at the time and he didn't see the other person's face clearly.
Could it be that the person he was looking for wasn't actually Amelia?
Inexplicably, his feelings were complicated.
That girl had become an obsession in his heart.
But now after meeting Amelia, he couldn't help being attracted to her.
He really hoped in his heart that person was her.
And his intuition also told him that person was Amelia!
Samuel unwillingly continued asking, "When you were at the hot springs, did anything strange ever happen?"
"Strange things? What do you mean?"
"Anything at all, we're just chatting."
Amelia's patience was completely exhausted.
She grabbed the teacup in front of Samuel and turned it upside down on the saucer.
"Nothing strange happened, but Mr. Crawford is really strange. Are you planning to stay at my house and not leave?"
Samuel was about to speak when his phone rang.
It was Jeremy calling.
Usually Jeremy wouldn't call him unless something was up.
He pressed the answer button and spoke first before the other side could, "I'm coming out now."
Then he hung up.
"Sorry for disturbing you today. I hope Amelia won't forget our agreement. When the day comes, I'll send a car to pick you up."
With that, he got up and walked out.
Amelia watched Samuel's back disappear at the rest room door and let out a long breath.
Samuel finally left!
She also opened the rest room door and headed upstairs to check on Natalie.
Natalie had worked hard all day today. She needed to give her treatment right away to help her relax.
At the entrance to the hall, Mason had just seen off the last wave of guests and was about to go upstairs for a hot shower when he saw Samuel walking toward him.
Mason's eyelid twitched as he went to meet him.
"Mr. Crawford, you haven't left yet?"
Samuel's face showed a faint smile. "I was just chatting with Amelia for a bit."
As he spoke, his slender fingers casually touched his collar.
Because of this gesture, Mason instinctively looked over.
He noticed that Samuel's black shirt underneath was missing a button.
Someone of his status wouldn't wear a shirt with a missing button to a banquet.
So it could only be...
Mason looked up the stairs and happened to see Amelia hurrying upstairs.
So Amelia and Samuel...
Who would have thought Amelia was so... so enthusiastic.
But their family all had a good impression of Samuel. If they could really be together, he'd naturally be happy.
"Mason?"
Samuel's voice pulled Mason's attention back.
He quickly came to his senses, putting a smile back on his face.
"Yes, Mr. Crawford?"
Samuel tugged at his lips and said, "I wanted to say, we seem to be the same age, and we're all family here. From now on, don't call me Mr. Crawford. I'll call you Mason, and you call me Samuel."
That didn't seem quite right?
After all, even at the Richardson family's peak, they weren't as powerful as the Crawford family.
Especially now that the Richardson family had fallen on hard times.
So many people wanted the qualification to call Samuel "Mr. Crawford" but didn't have it.
Samuel didn't give him a chance to refuse, directly patting his shoulder. "You worked hard today. I still have things to do, so I'll leave first. I'll come visit again another day."
With that, he strode out on his long legs.
Mason's brain was working rapidly.
Although he wasn't close with Samuel and had only met him a few times, he understood Samuel's personality fairly well.
He wasn't someone who was easy to talk to, and definitely not the type who liked to get chummy with people.
So was he showing goodwill just now?
Showing goodwill to him because of Amelia?
Mason quickly remembered that halfway through the banquet, Samuel had come in with Amelia.
Grant had said at the time that Samuel got lost, so he came back with them.
But now he didn't mention getting lost at all and just left on his own, which proved he wasn't someone who got lost easily.
Things that didn't make sense at the time suddenly became clear.
Their family might be having a wedding soon.
But thinking of Quinton still in prison, Mason's excitement deflated.
He wondered if Quinton would be able to attend Amelia's wedding.
Two days passed in a flash.
These past two days, Yasmin had deliberately arranged frequent gatherings with friends, either inviting people for beauty treatments or afternoon tea.
Her purpose was to hear the Richardson family's embarrassment from their mouths.
The embarrassment of setting up such a grand banquet but having hardly anyone accept the invitation.
But after two whole days, no one mentioned this embarrassment at all.
On this day, she finally couldn't hold back.
While having afternoon tea, she sighed as if unintentionally.
The two socialites across from her looked over curiously.
"Yasmin, what's wrong?"
Yasmin shook her head and gave a bitter smile, saying, "I'm just in a bad mood."
"Why are you in a bad mood?"
Yasmin sighed again and said, "It's all because of the Richardson family. Back then, they kicked me out of the Richardson family for Amelia's sake."
"But even so, I've never hated them, because they raised me. I'll always remember their kindness in raising me."
