Chapter 284 Not Marrying Samuel Anymore

Chapter 284 Not Marrying Samuel Anymore

Stanley still wasn't fond of Amelia.

But after these two incidents, even if he remained distant, he knew she was someone worthy of Samuel.

To put it more bluntly, having a woman like her as the mistress of the Crawford Group would be the Crawford Group's honor.

Besides, Amelia had once saved his life.

Despite the fact that he didn't like Amelia, he agreed to her marrying Samuel.

And he promised would give her all the respect she deserved.

Samuel understood this, and for once the tense lines on his face softened a bit.

"Of course she won't hold me back. What you should worry about is whether I'll hold her back."

Stanley frowned.

"What do you mean? How could you hold her back? She has some medical skills and is clever, but aren't you overestimating her a bit too much?"

Although Stanley had always favored Zachary more, he wasn't stupid.

He was very well that Samuel was far superior to Zachary.

Back then, it was exactly because he valued Samuel's abilities that after learning Samuel was his and his wife's biological son, he decisively handed over power to him.

If Samuel had been just an ordinary person, even after learning the truth, he might not have let Samuel take over and pushed Zachary out.

In wealthy families, emotions always came last, and Stanley was a man who put interests above all else.

But Samuel just laughed coldly and said, "Amelia's identity is more than just that of a Miracle Physician."

He didn't say more, just called Jeremy in.

"Bring Rex here. My dad can't be here without someone by his side. As for Nash, let my dad deal with him himself."

After dropping these two sentences, he left immediately.

Jeremy glanced at Stanley.

Normally, when Samuel spoke like this, Stanley would have blown up already.

But today, for some reason, he didn’t get angry at all.

Could it be that Zachary had made him so angry he'd lost his mind?

"Call Rex over," Stanley said. "I have many things to tell him."

"Yes."

Jeremy suppressed all his surprise and quickly called Rex over.

Ever since the plan began, Rex had been staying in the hospital room the whole time.

His situation was far better than Nash’s—at least he wasn't tied up and could move freely around the room.

Samuel also tried his best to maintain Rex's original living conditions, providing him with three meals on time, all prepared by the best chefs using the freshest ingredients.

King crab, lobster, and other seafood were constantly sent to him.

So when he came over, he showed no signs of fatigue. Instead, he looked healthy and glowing—noticeably a bit rounder than Stanley had been before his surgery.

With Samuel treating him so well, Rex naturally had no complaints about being confined.

Under those circumstances, keeping him locked up felt almost normal.

So he didn't complain to Stanley, but instead praised Samuel's decisive actions.

Stanley looked at Rex.

"You really admire him."

Rex didn't hide his true feelings and spoke honestly. "I already know what happened today. In my opinion, Samuel is indeed much better than Zachary."

His straightforwardness actually made Stanley feel relieved.

He was afraid that his only trusted subordinate had also become Samuel's person.

"Where is Nash now?" he asked about Nash's situation.

Rex told him everything he knew, holding nothing back.

Stanley's eyes darkened.

"Before, the people I trusted most were you and Nash."

Rex immediately said, "I will always follow your orders."

"I know, you're a good one."

He said this, then let out a long sigh. "I'm planning to withdraw from the board of directors. In the second half of the year, I'll let Samuel take over completely."

After confirming Stanley wasn't just talking casually, Rex said, "Several branch companies have had different problems. Those people all had close dealings with Nash."

"Deal with those people for Samuel," he said, closing his eyes. "I've worked hard my whole life. It's time to enjoy life. After everything is settled, come with me - let's learn from these young people and travel the world."

"I'll always be with you."

Stanley smiled slightly, then quickly fell asleep.

He was too tired.

Today he had suffered too much shock and stress. He remained in a deep sleep until the next morning.

The doctor put him on an IV and said there was nothing seriously wrong, just that his body was still very weak.

Only then did Rex feel relieved.

He went to find Samuel.

"I need to leave for a while in a few days to handle some matters at the branch companies. I'll have to trouble you to look after Mr. Crawford more."

Samuel gave a light acknowledgment without saying much.

Rex then went to deal with Nash's matter.

Dealing with Nash wasn't difficult. Nash was very greedy and couldn't stand investigation at all.

After submitting a series of evidence, the police took Nash away directly.

He shouted that he wanted to see Stanley, but Rex just watched coldly from the side.

Stanley would absolutely never use anyone who had betrayed him again.

He was like this even with his own son, let alone a butler.

On the other side, Amelia also found Faith to ask about her situation with Byron.

Faith seemed a bit down.

Amelia thought something had gone wrong, but when she asked, she learned that Faith's parents were planning to divorce.

"After the holiday ends, they're going to file for divorce."

Amelia opened her mouth, not knowing how to comfort her.

So she simply said, "Why don't a bunch of us go stay at a snow mountain resort for a while? I've never been to one."

"Great!" Faith immediately perked up. "Then I need to go buy some equipment first. How many people are going total? I'll handle buying the equipment. We can go skiing and build snowmen!"

Seeing her spirits lift, Amelia relaxed.

"I'll ask around first and let you know once I confirm the number."

"Awesome!"

After parting with Faith, Amelia left the dessert shop and took a car home.

Of course, not back to The Richardson Manor, but to Samuel's house, though it was the Richardson family living there.

When Amelia got home, Natalie was just about to look for her.

"I was just about to call you."

"What's up, Mom?"

Amelia walked forward. Several suitcases were placed in the living room.

Natalie said, "It's about Goldenvale. Many people have called wanting to visit, so your dad and Mason need to go back. Many of them are business partners."

The Richardson Group had gotten back on its feet, so these social obligations couldn't be avoided.

Plus, those branch families of the Richardsons also wanted to visit, so they couldn't continue staying in Thornfield.

Although Amelia was reluctant, she understood.

She asked, "When?"

"This afternoon's flight."

"So soon?"

"We originally wanted to stay a few more days, but Magnus also called to ask, so we decided to go back early."

At this, Natalie lowered her voice and added, "Besides, if we keep staying at Samuel's place, it won't sound good if word gets out. It's not good for you."

"I don't care what others say about me."

"You don't care, but I do. I can't let my daughter be criticized, all because of us."
