Chapter 253: Luck
The tall man who had just kicked Tristan in now delivered a blow to of Leo's neck hard.
Leo's eyes snapped wide, then he lost consciousness and collapsed to the floor, landing right next to Tristan.
The man was none other than Samuel wearing a human skin mask.
Leo would never know that showing his greedy desire for Amelia in front of Samuel was his biggest mistake.
Samuel walked past Leo's foot expressionlessly and came to Amelia's side.
"I found Adrian. I had Byron take him out."
Amelia let out a long sigh of relief.
"We can move on to the next step."
"Okay."
The two dragged Megan out of the bathroom, arranged the three people in messy positions, then quickly left the room.
Moments later, alarms suddenly went off in the building, and firelight flickered on the first floor.
The commotion quickly caught the attention of the guests on the fourth floor.
Everyone rushed downstairs.
"Don't panic, line up and go down. The fire isn't big, it won't spread that fast."
Someone reminded them, and two janitors helped maintain order. People stopped pushing and shoving, and soon filed downstairs in an orderly manner.
Tristan's trusted men were shocked.
"What's going on?"
"How did a fire start?"
"Where's Tristan?"
"Haven't seen him."
"He went to the second floor. Never mind Tristan for now - the main door is locked, they can't escape."
"Then what do we do?"
"Go to the control room. We'll operate from there, open the control room windows, and when Tristan comes, we'll leave through those windows, then detonate the bombs."
The four men split into two groups.
One went to find Tristan, while the other three headed to the control room.
Tristan didn't have many trusted men - only four remained.
However, as soon as they entered the control room, a group of people suddenly appeared and restrained the three men.
Louis and Lyndon, with their people, quickly subdued all three and forcibly dragged them downstairs.
As for the remaining one, he was knocked out by Amelia and Samuel, who had been lying in wait in room 206.
They threw him into a storage room, then quickly headed downstairs.
On the way, they met up with Liam.
Liam said, "I've shut down the control room's controller. All the door and window locks are open now."
Liam's role was to control the control room's computer and use hacking skills to unlock everything.
Although Amelia could also hack into Infinite Cube's building system, she still needed to handle things on Tristan's end and couldn't be in two places at once, so she specifically called Liam to fly over from Thornfield to help her.
Soon, Louis and Lyndon met them at the first-floor stairwell, and everyone ran out together with perfect coordination.
Outside the building, two janitors called for everyone to run further away.
"Move back further, wait for the fire trucks. In case the fire gets bigger, we don't want you getting hurt."
"Quick! Run!"
Everyone feared for their lives and quickly ran to a safer distance.
After Byron took Adrian back, he returned to the building for a final check.
After confirming no innocent people were left behind, he also ran out and came to Amelia's side.
"There's no one else in the building. No innocents will be harmed."
Amelia nodded and pulled out the bomb detonator from her pocket.
This detonator had been taken from Tristan.
As she pressed the button, a huge explosion rang out.
All the building's windows shattered, and enormous flames erupted from the building.
Everyone was frightened by the blast, their hearts jumping, faces turning pale.
"It... it actually exploded. I thought it was just a fire. Such a big explosion - were there explosives inside?"
"Good thing I got out, or I'd be dead."
"How could it just explode like that? This needs to be investigated!"
"Could it be related to Leo? He's the one who invited us!"
"Find Leo!"
But after searching everywhere, no one could find Leo.
Just then, fire trucks and police cars arrived at the same time.
The lead officer was Brady.
With help from Samuel and Frank, he had already been promoted three levels.
Amelia had been good to him, so when she called and asked him to come personally, he didn't hesitate.
Everyone crowded around the police cars.
"Officer! What's going on? How could it just explode like that?"
"You need to give us an explanation! We could have all died in there!"
Brady reassured them one by one and had the firefighters put out the fire.
At this moment, Amelia brought the three men caught in the control room, having Lyndon and Louis drag them before Brady.
"Officer," she said, "when I was running downstairs, I noticed these three men acting suspicious. They must be involved. Please investigate them thoroughly."
Brady glanced at the three men's ashen faces and nodded. "I will get to the bottom of this matter."
He raised his hand, and the three men were taken to the police car.
He then conducted routine questioning of everyone present and quickly determined that the explosion was related to Leo.
Because without exception, all these people had been invited by Leo.
Only Leo himself was nowhere to be found.
Soon the fire was extinguished, and after confirming there would be no secondary explosion, firefighters entered Infinite Cube.
Before long, they reported to Brady, "We found four bodies inside, all burnt beyond recognition. We can't identify them - you'll need to verify their identities."
Brady nodded.
Amelia and the others couldn't stay long. They soon got in cars and left with the other guests in taxis - all the cars in the underground garage had burned and were unusable.
At a parking lot near an intersection, everyone got out and found their cars that had been parked there in advance.
Jeremy had been waiting there ahead of time.
Seeing everyone return safely, he breathed a long sigh of relief.
Everything went smoothly!
The group split into two routes - Byron and his team returned to Shadow Operations Division, while Amelia and Samuel headed to The Hagen Villa.
On the way, Jeremy drove while Amelia removed the human skin mask from Samuel, revealing his original face.
"How do you feel? Any discomfort? Some people are allergic to these."
Samuel shook his head and held her hand, interlacing their fingers.
"What's wrong?" Amelia asked, noticing he was particularly quiet.
Samuel said something sweet.
"I'm thinking, how lucky am I to have such a perfect girlfriend?"
He had long known she was different from other girls, even different from many men around him.
But this was the first time he had witnessed firsthand how Amelia operated.
She stayed calm in danger and was decisive in action.
Yet she was so kind, unwilling to hurt any innocent person.
Those who died inside all deserved it.
Especially Leo - he was practically a beast.
As for the innocent, she confirmed their safety again and again before detonating the explosives.
How lucky he was to have such a perfect girlfriend!
Amelia's cheeks flushed slightly.
She signaled with her eyes, "Jeremy's still in the car."
Wasn't he afraid of lowering his dignity in Jeremy's eyes by saying such things?
Then she heard Jeremy suddenly speak, "Strange, I've suddenly gone deaf. Don't mind me - at the appropriate time, my hearing will return."
Amelia was speechless.
Her face turned even redder.
Soon they arrived at The Hagen Villa.
Anna had guessed they would come and rushed forward with Adrian.
"How did it go?"
Amelia didn't rush to speak. She first confirmed Adrian wasn't hurt, then pulled Anna to sit down and talk.
She explained everything that had happened.
Then she said, "I didn't know you were on the invitation list, otherwise I would have told you a day earlier not to go."
She had thought this was a trap aimed at her and Leo, and that Tristan wouldn't arrange too many people.
She hadn't expected that Tristan had completely lost his mind and wanted to include all these people in his scheme.
If Tristan had actually succeeded, one could imagine what chaos would have erupted in Phoenicia.
Anna listened with her heart in her throat.
"Amelia, you're too bold!"
Amelia thought Anna was saying she shouldn't have killed Leo, but the next second she heard Anna say, "These things are so dangerous - you could have sent people to do it. Why risk yourself? If something had happened to you, what would those of us who care about you do?"
Amelia's heart warmed.
So Anna was only worried about her safety.
She said, "I only acted after making complete preparations. And I knew their general plan in advance. If I wasn't sure I could escape safely, I wouldn't have taken the risk."
Samuel also said from the side, "I was with her the whole time. If there had been danger, I would have taken her away immediately, so you don't need to worry."
Amelia spread her arms.
"See? I'm fine, aren't I?"
Only after confirming she was truly unharmed did Anna nod.
"You can't take such risks again. You haven't been a mother, so you don't understand how we mothers feel."
Anna went on and on, but Amelia didn't find her annoying - only heartwarming.
Since returning to the Richardson family, she had received so much love, making up for what she had missed as a child.
She thought that returning to the Richardson family was probably the best decision she had ever made.
Soon Frank also returned.
He looked panicked, but when he saw that Anna and Adrian were both safe and Amelia wasn't hurt, he finally relaxed.
"I didn't know such a big incident would happen there, otherwise I wouldn't have let them go to the ribbon-cutting in my place."
Amelia said they also didn't know Anna would go, otherwise they would have stopped them from the start.
Frank, like Anna, didn't blame her.
Of course, this was based on the fact that Anna and Adrian had both returned home safely.
Compared to his political career, Frank cared more about whether Anna and Adrian were safe.
Amelia also didn't hide anything from Adrian. She told him that Leo had died inside.
Anna stood up at the right moment.
"I'll get you some coffee."
As she spoke, she also took Adrian, who was clinging to Amelia's side, with her, giving them peace and quiet to discuss serious matters.
Amelia told Frank the situation in more detail.
After hearing it, Frank's eyes blazed with anger.
"Francis is dead and still causing trouble. This time we must catch them all."
Amelia nodded. "Don't worry. The trusted men Francis left behind - this time those who died are dead, those who were caught are caught. No one was missed."
Frank responded, "You saved many people. Unfortunately, they don't know it."
Samuel said, "Perhaps we should let them know. We shouldn't do good deeds for nothing. Frank, what do you think?"
He gave Frank a meaningful look.
