Chapter 251 Entering the Game
That day, Amelia went to bed very early.
Because tomorrow would be a bit tough.
Going to bed early meant she would sleep well. The next day when she woke up, Amelia was full of energy. She even jogged two laps around the estate before going to shower and change clothes.
Coming downstairs, she saw Samuel wearing a black suit, chatting with Faith.
"I never expected you to be Octavius's granddaughter."
Faith said, "I never expected you to know my grandfather either."
"Octavius's cooking is second to none. Everyone takes pride in having tasted his dishes."
Faith was very happy.
She had a good relationship with Octavius, so naturally she liked hearing others praise him.
At this point, they noticed Amelia coming downstairs.
Amelia asked Samuel why he came so early.
They weren't supposed to leave until around ten o'clock, and it was only seven-thirty in the morning.
Samuel said, "There's a client who's a foodie. Yesterday he took me to a really good breakfast place. I thought I'd take you to try it."
Amelia nodded, "Okay."
She had Faith tell Natalie that she wouldn't be back until the afternoon, then left with Samuel.
It was December now, and the morning temperature was down to 42.8 degrees Fahrenheit.
Amelia felt a bit cold at first, but once she sat down in the breakfast shop and felt the warmth inside, her whole body started warming up.
This was a very small breakfast shop that looked like it had been around for quite a while. The tables showed obvious signs of age.
But though small, it had everything. Breakfast items that other shops didn't have were all available here.
At this hour, the breakfast shop was crowded, but most people bought and left. Few stayed to eat.
Life in Goldenvale moved at quite a fast pace.
The female owner of the breakfast shop recognized Samuel. When she saw Amelia beside him, she smiled and said, "You really kept your word."
Samuel smiled, "Of course I keep my promises."
The owner put down two glasses of milk and went to get other things.
Amelia asked curiously, "What did she mean about you keeping your word?"
Samuel said, "Yesterday I said the breakfast here was good, and I'd bring my wife tomorrow."
Amelia's face flushed slightly.
But she was getting used to it, so although she blushed, her expression didn't change.
Soon the other food arrived.
Amelia tried the sandwich first.
It was indeed delicious. When she bit into it, the sauce almost dripped onto her hand.
"Very good," Amelia said.
Samuel said, "I'm planning to hire this breakfast shop owner to come make you breakfast at home after we get married. She can make lots of different breakfast foods."
"Her business is so good, aren't you worried she won't want to?"
"No. I have money."
She had been presumptuous.
After breakfast, the two went to the Shadow Operations Division.
Samuel didn't go to the basement, but his arrival still gave everyone at the Shadow Operations Division quite a shock.
Byron reassured them, saying Samuel was one of their own.
Even so, many people were still uneasy.
Outsiders didn't come here.
To them, Samuel was that outsider.
Samuel sensed everyone's tension and asked Amelia, "Should we take the stuff and go somewhere else?"
"No need," Amelia said. "Samuel will have to meet our people sooner or later."
She was doing this to make her position clear.
Her position was: she already considered Samuel one of their own.
As for the others, they should get used to it gradually.
Samuel felt completely at ease.
He even thought about whether to give all his other assets to Amelia too.
Besides the trust fund, he had many other assets.
But he was afraid such a big move would cause unnecessary trouble, so he shelved the idea for now.
To him, these were all material things. Amelia was his most precious treasure.
Soon, the human skin mask was ready.
Amelia looked him up and down and couldn't help sighing.
"What's wrong?" Samuel asked her. "Is there a problem?"
Amelia said honestly, "Your presence is too strong. Even with an ordinary face, you still don't look like my bodyguard."
"What should we do? Should I add some freckles to my face?"
Amelia thought about it and said, "Change the suit. This one is too formal."
As she spoke, she had Byron lend Samuel an old suit to wear.
She also had Samuel walk with his back slightly bent, so that hunched over a bit, he could barely pass for an ordinary person.
By the time preparations were complete, it was already nine-thirty in the morning.
Samuel was in charge of driving.
Byron and the others left ahead of them.
But they weren't going to Infinite Cube. They were going to the airport to pick someone up for Amelia before heading to Infinite Cube.
Amelia and Samuel soon arrived at Infinite Cube.
The main structure of this building was like a tilted cube, with each floor misaligned. From a distance, it looked like a Rubik's cube.
Quite a few people had shown up.
Amelia immediately spotted Anna standing in the crowd.
She hurried over, her brow furrowing slightly, and asked, "Why are you here?"
"I received an invitation."
Amelia's instincts told her something was wrong.
Why was Anna invited too?
Could it be that Tristan's target wasn't just her and Leo?
Amelia quickly "instructed" Samuel to check which guests had come today.
Samuel soon found the list and told her quietly, "Many people from The Porter family faction and neutral faction are here."
Amelia's heart jumped.
Tristan was truly loyal. Even though Francis was already dead, he was still continuing to work for him.
Amelia came to Anna's side again and said quietly, "Find an excuse and leave here immediately."
Anna was startled and asked, "What happened?"
"Nothing yet, but there will be soon."
"I need to find Adrian now."
Amelia's eyes widened, "Adrian is here too?"
"Yes, I don't know where he ran off to play."
"Find him quickly. Once you find him, leave immediately."
Anna was so scared she got goosebumps.
She rarely saw Amelia with such a serious expression.
After saying "okay," Anna immediately went to look for Adrian.
Amelia also went to search the other side.
After searching around, she couldn't find anyone.
Samuel brought news.
"Someone saw him go upstairs. I'll go up and look for him. You wait downstairs."
Samuel, going by "Sam," with an ordinary face and deliberately hunched back, looking a bit hunchbacked, appeared very plain and not likely to attract attention.
Amelia nodded, "Okay, make sure to find him as soon as possible."
"Leave it to me."
Samuel quietly went upstairs.
Not long after Samuel left, Leo came looking for Amelia.
He seemed to be making small talk with Amelia, but was actually nervously asking her, "When do we start the operation?"
"No rush, I need to find someone first."
Leo frowned.
"At a time like this? Who are you looking for? Once the bomb goes off, we'll all die!"
Amelia said, "Don't worry, he's still inside himself."
From the corner of her eye, Amelia saw that Tristan was still in the hall.
"But what if he's gone crazy and wants to die with us?"
"He won't."
"How can you be so sure?"
"Because he still has other things to do. He won't die yet."
"What things?"
"Don't ask. You wouldn't understand even if I told you."
"You!" Leo felt a surge of anger.
Amelia's words were really unpleasant!
Maybe it was because he was afraid of dying and had lost his romantic feelings for Amelia, so he no longer found her beautiful and charming.
He just wanted to quickly deal with Tristan so he could continue his carefree life.
He didn't think killing a few people was a problem. He just thought Amelia was moving too slowly.
Still looking for someone?
What was there to look for?
Everyone in this room full of people wasn't as important as his own life.
If he hadn't listened to what Amelia said and realized that without getting rid of Tristan he would still be in danger, he wouldn't have come today at all.
"Cooperate a bit, Leo. We're in the same boat now. If I were you, I'd do what I told you yesterday - go find Tristan and do what you're supposed to do."
Leo's eyes lit up. That made sense.
He left immediately.
Amelia glanced at Leo's retreating figure, a sharp glint flashing in her eyes.
On Tristan's side, he was quietly waiting for all the guests to arrive.
Using Leo's name, he had invited quite a few people.
But he hadn't invited a single person from The Hays family faction.
He wanted to eliminate all these people in one fell swoop for Francis.
As for The Hays family's future, he had a plan for that too.
Francis had a young nephew in the family that he really liked. He would promote that child to power.
Tristan's plan was good.
At this moment, Leo walked over, rambling about this and that, insisting on talking to Tristan.
Tristan was annoyed, the disgust in his eyes almost impossible to hide.
Leo hadn't paid much attention to Tristan's expressions before, because he simply didn't take Tristan seriously.
Now, after Amelia's reminder, he realized that Tristan looked at him as if looking at a dead man.
If before this he had believed Amelia's words seventy percent and doubted thirty percent, now he completely believed Amelia.
"When does our plan start?"
"When everyone's here."
"I'm getting a bit impatient. Amelia is really good-looking."
Leo wasn't actually very good at acting, but because Tristan didn't take Leo seriously at all, didn't even consider him human, he couldn't be bothered to carefully examine the look in Leo's eyes.
"Leo, if you can't be patient with details, you'll ruin the whole plan. When the guests arrive and go up to tour each floor, that's when you should act." Tristan said patiently.
He was about to leave when Leo grabbed him again.
"Give me a specific time."
"I don't know when all the guests will arrive either. They should all be here within an hour."
"An hour? That's too long. Help me hurry them up."
Tristan was extremely annoyed.
But he couldn't show his impatience too obviously, so he had to patiently comfort him.
While Leo kept Tristan occupied, Amelia took the opportunity to go to the restroom.
There was a janitor at the restroom entrance. Seeing her, he nodded slightly, put down an "Under Maintenance" sign, and went to the front to keep watch for her.
Amelia then walked in, came to the innermost stall, and knocked three times on the stall door.
