Chapter 246: Expel Evelyn
Amelia noticed Evelyn's nails.
But she couldn't bring herself to get angry at her, because the girl was so friendly.
And since she had offered her a hand, Amelia willingly took it and even gave it a shake.
But it was a brief shake, however, and she quickly retrieved her hand.
She couldn't help buy feel that Evelyn had purposely squeezed hand too hard, and even gone so far as to scratch her with those her claws for nails.
But pulling back as quick as she did helped her avoid it.
Evelyn had actually stooped so low as to play such cheap games?
It surprised her to be honest, and she figured Evelyn was possibly not as smart and rational as she once believed her to be.
Although she was slightly irritated, she spoke with a calm expression, "Hello, he's actually spoken about you quite a bit. He said you were his classmate from school."
Evelyn purposely spoke about Samuel in an intimate way in the presence of Amelia, so Amelia struck back with "classmate."
That certainly got Evelyn's cheek to twitch.
"Ms. Richardson, it's quite a sharp tongue you've got there."
"I'm used to dealing with fake people, so i'm always quick to call them out on their hypocrisy."
The smile on Evelyn's face immediately froze.
She found it too laborious to try and pretend, and non-chalantly responded, "You and Samuel have already broken up, so I presume it's high time you stayed in your house and stopped trying to be all up in his face. Today is an important day for him. So why don't you run along early and try not to ruin his mood?"
Amelia was momentarily stunned.
She suddenly remembered that simply been acting in the presence of Francis, and still appeared to be 'broken up'.
Since Francis kicked the bucket, they had not really gotten the chance to clear things up.
No wonder Evelyn wasn't even trying to pretend anymore.
To Evelyn, she was just poor Amelia, who Samuel had simply used and discarded.
And now, Amelia thought it best to stop pretending as well, especially after considering the way Evelyn had tried to cause so much drama in Stanley's presence.
"Evelyn, I thought you were smart, but I didn't expect you to be so stupid. The mere fact that i'm her just proves that Samuel does infact want me here. If there's anyone who will affect his mood today, it's going to be you, not me.. You're the one who needs to leave, not me."
"How dare you?!"
Grant quickly stepped in front of Amelia, right before Evelyn could crash out.
"Evelyn, i'm going to have to ask security to throw you out, if you don't leave right away!"
Evelyn glared at Grant.
"What does anything we talk about here have to do with you? Are you a staff member here? You throw her out right now if you still value your job!"
Grant let out a cold laugh and was just about to say something when they heard a sudden strong masculine voice come up from behind them.
"How did you manage to get in here? You barely know who he is?"
The three of them turned to see the owner of the voice at the same time.
It was none other than Samuel.
Samuel had been back stage revising his script for his performance on stage, but he instantly put the script down when he learned of Amelia's arrival.
He would still be able to speak if he didn't memorize the script. After all, he still had the PowerPoint.
Who would have thought that this would be the first scene he saw when he stepped out. His expression instantly darkened at the sight.
Evelyn felt a sheer mix of nerves and joy when she saw Samuel.
She took a few steps forward and immediately said to Samuel, "These two have done nothing but disrespect me. You need to kick them out right away."
Amelia was quite surprised to see Evelyn display such grand stupidity.
She had perceived Evelyn to be smart, and believed that was why she and Samuel had been friends back in school.
Now it seemed she'd been wrong. Evelyn wasn't smart. She just seemed perfect all those years ago.
She had shown up when Samuel deeply needed a friend.
And at that time, Samuel had also been young and simple, so winning him over had possibly not taken too much effort.
She heard Samuel say, "People who lack manners should really be thrown out."
Evelyn's eyes lit up.
Rumors had spread back at Thornfield that Samuel had real feelings for Amelia, that their ruse of a relationship had somehow ended up becoming real.
She scoffed at the possibility.
She had tried for years to make Samuel fall for her, but he only ever saw her as his friend. How could Amelia ever be able to make him fall for her?
Especially with the fact that she just returned from the countryside.
She refused to pay such rumors any mind.
This time didn't come for Amelia, but to find that Miracle Physician in Goldenvale.
Someone said the Miracle Physician was in Thornfield and had treated Roman.
That's was the reason she'd made haste to Goldenvale.
It just so happened that her visit coincided with Samuel's product launch, so she decided to show up even without an invite.
She was convinced that despite the fact Samuel saw her as just a friend, he still harbored special feelings for her.
Samuel could definitely marry just about any woman, but a marriage to Evelyn had it's advantage. He wouldn't dare reject marrying someone like her.
They knew each other well.
This was the reason Evelyn never took Amelia seriously, right from the beginning. And she believed the words Samuel just said were directed at Amelia.
But she was surprised when in the next second, Samuel coldly said, "Grant, what are you waiting for? Drag her out and make sure she doesn't get back in!"
Grant's eyes lit up, he immediately got into action and called out to a male staff. Together, they grabbed Evelyn's arms and dragged her out.
Evelyn was shocked.
"What are you doing? Samuel! Why are they doing this? Ask them to let go of me!"
Samuel looked at Evelyn, clearly impatient.
"Don't you understand? You said it yourself, after all. People who lack manners need to be thrown out."
Only then did Evelyn realize that he had been referring to her all along!
She looked at him with disbelief.
"You were referring to me? I'm the one you're kicking out? You're kicking me out, because of her?!"
"She's my fiancée and the woman that I love. You spoke to her rudely and now she's unhappy. So yes, I'm kicking you out. Also, I never sent you an invitation, so you were never meant to be here in the first place."
Evelyn felt her mind go blank, her head felt as though she'd been struck by lightening.
"Samuel, have you lost your mind? It's me! Evelyn! Are you high or something?"
Samuel became even more impatient.
"Grant, You're too slow."
Grant immediately used more force. There were two men pulling at one woman. and although the woman in question refused to cooperate, she was no match for their strength and they eventually dragged her away.
Everyone inside looked at Evelyn with shock.
This was definitely the most humiliating situation of Evelyn's life.
Herexpression was so dark, and when she finally stopped struggling, she haughtily said, "Let me go! I can walk by myself!"
Grant didn't didn't really feel comfortable touching her, so at her request, he immediately let her go.
But it was unexpected and the momentum made Evelyn fall forward, and she landed headfirst on the ground.
Laughter erupted around them.
Evelyn was so angry, she began to tremble. It took her several seconds to get up from the groundand by the time she was leaving, she looked as terrible as she felt.
When she had departed, she immediately asked her people to figure out what was happening.
Meanwhile, back inside, Samuel turned to Amelia and asked, "She didn't hurt you, did she?"
Amelia shook her head.
"No."
She didn't mention that Evelyn had almost scratched her with her nails, but it was clearly insignificant, and she didn't consider it worth mentioning.
Samuel's attitude toward her showed her that she didn't really need to play any dirty mind games for the sake of control.
"I didn't expect her to come." Samuel said honestly, "If I had known she would here, I would have taken it upon myself to guard the door so that she didn't get in."
Amelia laughed.
A lot of people had their eyes on them.
So, Samuel took the opportunity to pull her backstage. There They still had over an hour before the launch. So with more time to spare, Samuel took her to the lounge so they could talk.
After the door closed, Amelia brought up Evelyn.
"I thought she was smart woman, and that she would be hard to deal with. But today proved me wrong."
"Her IQ is in the normal range, but she really isn't very intelligent. She just enjoys all her mind games and petty schemes. For instance, she made sure to get my dad on her side, before trying to win me over."
"I'm still trying to figure out how she got my dad to plan a marriage between she and I."
"Your dad didn't like her before?"
"The Russell family has been going seriously downhill since her father's generation, and their future is pretty much predictable. There's no one capable in her generation either, otherwise they would be supporting her brother and not her. Women are naturally at some disadvantage in competition. The Russell family has no future, that's the only explanation for why she stands out the way she does. Why would my dad like her?"
"Then she must have promised your father some condition that moved him."
"My dad's health is like a time bomb now - it could go off at any moment. I really can't think of what condition she could offer to move my dad."
"Don't worry, take it slow. It's actually good that she came today. Soon enough, she'll get anxious, and she might just let slip very important information."
"Okay."
The two talked about the second-generation new energy vehicle.
Samuel said honestly, "Actually I'm not confident either, but I'm willing to let Grant try."
"I'll thank you on Grant's behalf, but I think his approach is right."
"If you say so, then it will definitely sell well."
Amelia smiled, her smile somewhat dazzling.
Samuel couldn't help but kiss her.
Just then, there was a knock on the door.
Jeremy's voice came in.
"Mr. Crawford, Mr. Hagen and Mr. O'Connor are here."
Samuel had to temporarily let go of Amelia.
"I'll be right out."
"Yes."
The two helped each other straighten their clothes.
Amelia said, "If you mind, I can leave now. Watching your launch on my phone will be the same."
"No need. I know you only have me in your heart, so I won't mind."
"Then let's agree - no more random jealousy."
"I won't!"
That's what he said, but when he introduced Amelia to Frank and Finn, and Samuel shook hands with them, he still held on to Amelia with his other hand. He never for once let go off her hand.
He kept their fingers interlaced the whole time.
The intention was to show his ownership.
Amelia was his, and no one could take her away.
Not even Finn, the ex-boyfriend.
Finn didn't seem to care much, just glanced at their clasped hands and looked away.
Soon, the launch officially began.
Amelia didn't want to be on camera, so she chose to sit in the last row.
But Finn followed her and sat next to her, much to her surprise.
Before she could speak, Finn explained first.
"I have some news to tell you."
Amelia nodded and said, "Go ahead, I'm listening."
"I just saw Evelyn at the entrance."
Amelia was slightly surprised.
Surprised that Finn and Evelyn actually knew each other.
But the more carefully she thought about it, the more it made sense. Finn had always been in Thornfield, and Evelyn was a native of Thornfield.
It was normal for them to have crossed paths.
She had forgotten that Finn wasn't that unknown junior police officer anymore.
It wouldn't be strange for him to know anyone.
