Chapter 240: Samuel's First Love?
Amelia's internal debate lasted only two seconds in the real world.
She nodded and said, "Okay, go ahead and shower."
That short sentence took a lot of effort to say.
However, when they came in earlier, Samuel had only turned on one lamp and the light was quite dim, so Samuel didn't see the struggle on her face.
"I'll shower in the bedroom. Feel free to look around, you can check out the outside too."
After saying this, Samuel went into the bedroom bathroom to shower.
It was going to rain heavily at night, so the weather was very unfavorable now. Just from eating dinner, he had worked up quite a sweat.
Amelia stood in the living room, feeling a bit awkward.
But as Samuel went into the bathroom, she gradually relaxed.
She turned on the main light in the living room, and everything in the room came into view.
Probably because the previous owner of Rosevale Manor was a foreigner, it still kept that foreign style.
Although the furniture was new, to match the decor style here, they had also chosen foreign furniture.
After walking around once, Amelia found almost nothing interesting.
Of course, it was also because she was distracted and too nervous.
Just then, a gust of wind blew in, and a photo frame in the entryway fell down.
This frame was placed quite far back, so she hadn't noticed it earlier.
The glass in the frame had already shattered.
Amelia walked over in a few steps and picked up the photo from the floor, wanting to put it away for him first, then call someone to clean up the broken glass.
Holding the photo in her hand, Amelia couldn't help but glance at it, and saw it was a group photo of four people.
Samuel stood in the middle, with a short-haired woman with sharp features on his left. Both were wearing graduation gowns, while York and Jeremy stood beside them in regular clothes.
Samuel didn't smile much, but in the photo, he was smiling happily.
Amelia's gaze fell on the woman's face.
She was very familiar with York and Jeremy, but this woman...she hadn't seen her before.
Was she also one of Samuel's people?
That didn't seem right.
If she was one of Samuel's people, she would have seen her before.
She had also never heard them mention any woman around Samuel.
While she was puzzling over this, there was movement from the bedroom.
Samuel had finished showering and come out, Amelia immediately became nervous.
But then she saw Samuel wearing the suit she had bought, appearing neatly dressed before her.
Amelia immediately realized that she had misunderstood.
Samuel had asked her to come upstairs not because he wanted to have sex with her.
He just wanted her to see the suit she had chosen for him.
Samuel was to blame too!
He had asked her to come to his room, and the first thing he did after entering was go shower, it was hard for her not to misunderstand!
Along with the embarrassment, her nervousness dissipated.
She wasn't completely ready yet.
Or rather, she hadn't gotten Stanley's approval yet, so she didn't have much energy to focus on such things.
Once she relaxed, her smile became more natural too.
She walked forward to look Samuel over.
Samuel spread his arms, letting her examine him.
But his eyes showed a slight discomfort, because the suit Amelia had bought him was pink.
Forget a pink suit, he had never worn even pink socks in his entire life!
This was also why Samuel had asked Amelia to come to his room to show her privately.
He was really embarrassed and Amelia understood completely.
Straight men were like this, they thought only women could wear pink.
She smiled and said, "It looks great, really suits you. You look more youthful in pink."
"I'm not a teenager anymore. If I wear this out, people will laugh."
Amelia coaxed him patiently, "You're not even thirty yet, always wearing all black makes you look old. Change colors once in a while, think of it as changing your mood."
She led him to the mirror.
"Look, it suits you so well!"
There was a full-length mirror right in the entryway which Samuel glanced at with distaste, but looking at it, he actually realized it wasn't bad.
It didn't look feminine, just a bit flashy, but not overly so.
Overall, it was actually quite acceptable.
"Looks like I'm really handsome, I look good in anything."
Amelia laughed , "You're so full of yourself."
"Isn't it true?" Samuel asked .
Amelia nodded repeatedly, "Yes, yes, yes, then wear more different colors from now on. Not necessarily pink; wear some yellow, green, blue, whatever."
When she had originally chosen this pink suit for Samuel, it was indeed because she felt that Samuel's clothes were all just black and white, completely unimaginative.
So she simply chose a bold color.
Unexpectedly, it really suited Samuel.
What she had just said wasn't just being polite, it really did suit him.
Samuel touched his half-dry hair and said, "After we get married, you'll buy all my clothes."
Amelia's face turned a bit red, but this time she didn't deflect out of shyness. She nodded seriously, "Okay."
Samuel could also feel that Amelia was gradually becoming braver in matters of the heart.
Her past 'timidity' came from Finn.
Now that Finn had appeared, he had thought this would be a crisis, but unexpectedly, it actually helped Amelia completely let go of her emotional baggage.
He was a bit grateful to Finn now.
After all, if Finn hadn't left Amelia back then, there wouldn't be room for him by her side.
Samuel hugged her and kissed her.
He used to have no experience with kissing, but now he was getting more skilled each time.
Soon both of them were breathing heavily.
As usual, Samuel held onto his self-control , pulling back from the cliff's edge before completely losing his rationality.
Amelia was also grateful for his understanding and gently hugged him back.
They held each other for quite a while before Samuel let her go.
"It's going to rain hard. I'll take you back early."
"Okay."
Amelia nodded. Just as she was about to go downstairs, passing by the broken glass in the entryway, Amelia remembered she was still holding that photo.
She handed the photo to Samuel, explaining, "The wind blew in and the frame fell and broke."
Samuel took it and glanced at it, his eyes showing subtle changes which Amelia noticed.
She asked, "Who is this girl?"
Samuel was silent for two seconds, then said, "Evelyn."
"What?"
She was very unfamiliar with this name.
Samuel continued, "Let's go downstairs first. I'll explain slowly on the way back."
As he spoke, he threw the photo into the trash can in the entryway.
Amelia was a bit surprised by his action, but still suppressed her curiosity.
Samuel had promised her he wouldn't lie to her or hide anything from her.
So she just needed to wait for him to speak.
Amelia looked away and went downstairs with Samuel.
Downstairs, York and Jeremy were still fooling around.
At others' urging, the two had done two rounds of sparring practice.
Each had won one round.
They were preparing for a final tiebreaker when Amelia and Samuel came down.
They were about to ask Samuel to be the referee when they saw Samuel's expression was a bit serious, and Amelia's eyes were also somewhat unfocused.
They immediately lost interest in playing around and came forward to greet them.
"Mr. Crawford, Ms. Richardson, you're down? Do you need us to prepare more food?"
"No need, I'm taking Amelia back. You guys can carry on."
"Yes."
The two quickly drove off.
York was completely confused, he nudged Jeremy's arm with his elbow.
"What's going on? Did they fight?"
"No way." Jeremy said, "Didn't you see what Mr. Crawford was wearing? That's pink."
Samuel hated effeminate men the most, so he definitely wouldn't wear pink clothes on his own initiative.
It could only be that Amelia asked him to wear it.
This meant they went upstairs to change clothes, not to fight.
York realized this too and asked, "Then why are they...?"
Jeremy had guessed part of the reason.
"It should be related to Stanley."
"What about Stanley?"
Jeremy glared at him, "Stop always asking me, use your own brain sometimes."
"Damn! Why are you snapping at me?"
"I'm not snapping."
He was just worried.
Worried about what Samuel would do if Stanley absolutely refused to accept Samuel and Amelia being together.
If he really broke up with Amelia, Samuel would definitely be in pain.
If they continued being together, it would inevitably lead to conflict with Stanley.
At this critical moment, it wasn't appropriate to have conflict with the Thornfield side.
Jeremy felt very troubled and had no mood to go out drinking. He turned and went upstairs.
York's brain couldn't work through such complex thoughts. Seeing that Jeremy didn't want to talk to him either, he simply called Byron to come out for drinks.
But Byron said he was with Faith.
York gritted his teeth.
"Busy! Everyone's busy! Go ahead then!"
With no one to drink with him, he'd go find something to do himself.
Perfect timing, he could take this opportunity to get familiar with Leo, and maybe get some useful information.
York was a man of action. He immediately grabbed his jacket and went out.
On the other side, Samuel told Amelia about Evelyn in the car.
"She's from Thornfield, a daughter of the Russell family. By their generation, the Russell family only has one son and one daughter, but Evelyn is very outstanding. Her abilities even surpass her brother's. So now the Russell family is grooming her as the heir. Her brother is quite ordinary and has no ambitions."
He first introduced Evelyn's current position in the Russell family, then he talked about the past.
"Back then, I was just a bastard child, everyone outside looked down on me."
"It was like that outside, and the same at school. Even though my grades were always first, people still looked at me with contempt."
Amelia's heart ached a bit.
She suggested, "Why don't I drive?"
Samuel didn't refuse.
After they switched positions, Samuel spoke again, "Evelyn transferred in during 11th grade. There weren't many girls in my class. After Evelyn transferred, many boys liked to get close to her because she had good grades and was very pretty."
At this point, he added, "Of course, not as pretty as you."
Amelia felt a bit embarrassed and also a bit helpless.
"Don't worry, I'm not the jealous type like you. There are so many beautiful women in the world, plenty prettier than me."
"No." Samuel said very seriously, "I don't care what others think. In my heart, you're the most beautiful in the whole world."
