Chapter 189 I Will Be Jealous
Amelia responded.
"Everything's ready on my end, too. Remember to give your parents a heads up."
"Don't worry, I've already explained everything to them. They're really happy about it."
"Good."
After the call ended, Amelia noticed Samuel looking at her with confusion.
She was confused too.
"Why are you staring at me like that?"
Samuel asked, curiosity etched in his voice, "Did I hear that right? Was that Maeve's voice?"
"Yes, it was her."
"Weren't you two enemies before? How come you're now having dinner together, and she's calling you? What did you offer her?"
"We're friends now."
Samuel was stunned.
Amelia said, "Relationships between girls aren't always about making promises or offering benefits. Having compatible personalities and genuine sincerity matter more."
Samuel nodded firmly. "That's how it is for us men, too."
"Not necessarily, though you and Yosef are definitely like that."
"Stop mentioning other men in front of me all the time. I'll get jealous."
Amelia didn't respond to that, knowing it was just a joke.
When they arrived at the Richardson family's door, Amelia said, "Can you bring Lyric over to me tomorrow?"
Samuel was slightly surprised.
"You're not scared anymore?"
"I'll try my best to overcome it."
Samuel nodded and agreed.
"I'll go back today and give it some intensive training."
"You don't need to train it specially. It's already very well-trained."
"Okay."
The next day.
Amelia had Max arrange a livestream for Lucas.
The livestream didn't have much special content—just chatting with fans.
After chatting for a while, Lucas brought up his sister, praising how pretty and adorable she was, going on and on.
Meanwhile, Amelia used her hacking skills to push this livestream to both Isaac's and Piper's phones.
She knew they would definitely watch.
This was planting a thorn in their side.
Samuel also brought Lyric over.
Under Samuel's instruction, Lyric would also obey Amelia's commands.
She had to admit, Samuel had good taste. Lyric was quite clever—though still just a puppy, it could understand people very well.
Before Samuel left the Richardson family, Amelia asked him to help her with one more thing.
The day passed quickly, and Isaac kept his promise.
He didn't go to the Sullivan Manor, but to Rosemont Manor, where the Sullivan family used to live.
This was the same place where Amelia first went to treat the Sullivan family members.
The building looked somewhat aged from the outside, but inside it was still magnificent.
Isaac felt uneasy.
He knew that, except for Maeve, none of the Sullivan family members liked him.
But whether it pans out—that all comes down to today.
Maeve had called him two days ago, saying her parents were introducing her to blind dates again. She said, "Isaac, would you come to my family and ask for my hand in marriage? Just say I'm already pregnant with your child, and my parents will definitely agree."
Isaac was overjoyed and immediately agreed.
Before going to the Sullivan family, he went to Spring Renewal Clinic.
That day at Spring Renewal Clinic, Charles said he couldn't treat Isaac's face, but he had developed a human skin mask.
Since this was still in the experimental stage, he didn't charge Isaac any money.
This was exactly the break Isaac was looking for.
So when he showed up at Rosemont Manor today, he looked as handsome as ever.
While he wasn't exactly a Greek god, he was still good-looking and clean-cut.
Little did anyone know that Amelia's own hands crafted this realistic mask.
Amelia had spent nearly half a day making this human skin mask.
Isaac was very satisfied with his mask and had brought many expensive gifts.
Buying these gifts had cost him almost all his savings.
But he didn't feel bad about it, because it was worth it. Compared to marrying Maeve, his savings were nothing.
However, when Isaac arrived with his gifts and was led inside by a servant, he saw Amelia.
She was wearing an evening gown today, looking elegant and beautiful, holding a dog in her arms, talking to Maeve about something. Both of them were smiling.
Isaac froze for several seconds before snapping out of it.
After being stunned by her beauty, he felt alarmed.
She was actually chatting with Maeve!
When did they meet? Why were they so close?
Isaac quickly remembered that once, when Maeve went to buy medicine, he saw someone whose figure looked like Amelia leaving the pharmacy.
Could it be that the person that day really was Amelia?
"You're here." Maeve looked up at Isaac.
Her gaze was indifferent.
Isaac's heart sank. He suspected Amelia had said something.
Otherwise, why would Maeve's attitude toward him be so cold?
Isaac told himself not to panic.
He walked forward two steps and said to Maeve, "Maeve, about what we discussed two days ago..."
A hint of amusement appeared in Maeve's eyes as she said, "I'll go get my parents now."
Thank goodness...
Maeve hadn't changed her mind about what she said on the phone two days ago.
Isaac forced a smile. "Okay."
He breathed a sigh of relief, but at the same time felt something was strange, though he couldn't say exactly what.
But this strangeness all stemmed from Amelia's appearance.
So after Maeve went upstairs, Isaac immediately went to Amelia.
"Why are you here? What are you trying to do?"
Amelia laughed lightly.
"Is this your house? You can come, but I can't?"
"What exactly are you trying to do?"
"Nothing at all."
"What did you say to Maeve?"
"I didn't say anything."
"I don't believe you!"
"Believe it or not, that's up to you."
Isaac wanted to strangle her!
He took a deep breath, forcing himself to calm down.
He said, "I know you hold a grudge against my mom. She was the one who wanted to sell you—I had no idea. But if you leave now and don't cause trouble, I'll help resolve this matter."
Isaac threw all the blame onto Piper.
Amelia sneered inwardly but showed an interested expression on her face.
"How are you going to resolve the grudge between your mom and me?"
"What do you want?"
"It's simple. Report your mom and say she's a human trafficker."
Isaac frowned. "That's impossible. I'd be implicated too."
"Didn't you say you had nothing to do with it? If you're not involved, why would you be afraid of being implicated? Unless your mom would drag you down?"
Isaac knew that Piper wouldn't implicate him.
In Piper's heart, her son was more important than her own life.
Amelia said unhurriedly, "If you don't do this, I won't let it go. When I'm angry, I can do anything. Forget ruining a marriage—I could even kill you."
Isaac clenched his fists, his mind racing with thoughts.
Actually, Piper was a burden to him too.
He didn't use to think so, but after spending time with her recently, he was getting more and more impatient with her.
Plus, the last time Maeve came to his house and immediately assumed his mom was the maid, it made him hate Piper even more.
He felt Piper had dragged down his whole life.
He took a deep breath and agreed.
"Fine. After Maeve and I get married, I'll have her turn herself in."
"No." Amelia said, "How do I know you won't go back on your word? Once you marry Maeve, you'll have the Sullivan family backing you. If you change your mind, then I won't be able to do anything about it. You have to make her turn herself in right now."
Hearing this, Isaac thought: Once he got married, getting revenge on Amelia or bailing his mom out would be easy.
With that thought, he didn't hesitate anymore.
"Fine, I agree. But you have to promise not to interfere with my marriage to Maeve."
"Sure, I hate Piper the most. If she turns herself in, I'll let you go."
This sounded reasonable.
Isaac immediately called Piper right in front of Amelia.
He didn't even notice that Maeve had said she was going upstairs to get her parents, yet no one had appeared in the living room until now.
The servants were gone too.
Because Isaac was in such a hurry, Charles had told him his human skin mask would only last three hours.
After three hours, it would start cracking.
He had to act quickly.
When people are desperate for quick success, their minds get muddled, and when muddled, they overlook many details.
The call connected quickly.
Amelia gestured for Isaac to put it on speaker.
Piper asked in confusion, "Isaac, why are you calling me now? Is everything settled?"
Isaac tightened his grip and said, "Mom, go turn yourself in."
Piper was stunned. "What do you mean?"
"Go turn yourself in. There's a problem on my end. If you don't turn yourself in now and admit to human trafficking, my wedding with Maeve won't happen."
Piper wasn't stupid either. She immediately asked, "Is that bitch Amelia threatening you?!"
Isaac only repeated, "Mom, go turn yourself in."
Piper's mind raced.
Isaac meant that as long as she turned herself in, his marriage could happen.
Once the marriage happened, he would definitely bail her out.
And even if he didn't bail her out, as long as Isaac's marriage succeeded, that was more important than anything.
Piper was an old-fashioned woman. When her husband was alive, she prioritized him.
After her husband died, she prioritized her son.
She didn't hesitate long before agreeing directly.
Isaac's voice was slightly choked up.
"Thank you, Mom."
Amelia looked at Isaac's face, not knowing whether his emotion was fake or genuine.
But it didn't matter anymore.
For his future, he had made his own mother turn herself in. Such a person was already an unfilial son, not even human anymore.
Isaac said, "Hurry up. She's waiting."
This "she" referred to Amelia.
Amelia smiled slightly. "I'm not in a hurry. I just don't know if you can wait."
Isaac's face turned livid.
Piper, on the other end of the phone, heard this too.
She didn't delay any further and immediately called the police, then left to turn herself in.
But just as she walked out of the residential complex, two police officers were already waiting.
Piper was shocked.
The police came so fast!
She vaguely sensed something was wrong.
But the deed was done. She could only pray that everything went smoothly on Isaac's end.
After receiving Brady's message, Amelia felt some admiration for Piper.
Piper was quite shrewd. She must have guessed that perhaps Amelia was tricking Isaac and might go back on her word.
But for Isaac's sake, even if there was only a one-in-ten-thousand chance, she would try.
Maternal love truly was great.
Yet Amelia's eyes were ice-cold, without a trace of sympathy.
