Chapter 146 Perform a Play with Me
Amelia instinctively frowned.
A moderate amount of perfume can be refreshing, but an overly strong scent just makes people want to throw up.
"Amelia." The woman got straight to the point: "Come outside with me. I need to talk to you."
Her commanding tone showed she didn't take Amelia seriously at all.
Everyone in the room knew that although Natalie and Amelia had pleased Anna, they were so broke that they could only give a homemade cake.
She didn't need to take Amelia seriously.
She had clearly seen that Samuel only talked to Natalie and ignored Amelia.
Amelia's frown deepened, a sharp glint appearing in her eyes.
"Who are you?"
"Who I am doesn't matter. I have something to tell you. Come with me."
She grabbed Amelia's sleeve, trying to drag her outside.
But the next second, Amelia twisted her hand and caught the woman's wrist.
The woman couldn't move.
Any movement made her feel like her bones were being torn apart.
"It hurts! Damn it! Let go of me!"
"If you know it hurts, get lost. Unless you want me to break your hand."
"You wouldn't dare! Your family is already bankrupt. If you break my hand, you'll pay for it!"
Amelia smiled, but her smile sent chills down people's spines.
The next moment, she yanked hard, pulling the woman's face close to her forehead.
She said in a low voice, "Since you know my family went bankrupt, you should also know that I have nothing left to lose. I've already lost everything anyway, so what does it matter if I drag someone down with me?"
The woman's face instantly turned pale, and her body trembled violently.
She swallowed and immediately backed down: "You—you let me go, I don't need you to come with me anymore."
"Let you go? Sure. Tell me, why did you want me to come outside?"
"I like Mr. Crawford. I saw him talking to you earlier, and I—I got jealous, so I couldn't help coming to find you."
"That's it?"
"That's it! Let me go! I know I was wrong! If this really becomes a thing, you won't have it easy either. Let's just pretend nothing happened."
Amelia, mindful that this was the Hagen family's place, released her hand with an expressionless face.
"Get lost! Don't appear in front of me again!"
The woman nodded repeatedly. The moment she turned around, a smug smile appeared on her face.
Although she'd suffered a bit, she had achieved her goal.
She rubbed her aching hand and quickly left Amelia's side, quietly returning to Maeve.
Maeve glanced at her and asked, "Lisa, didn't you say you were going to the bathroom to touch up your makeup? You're back so soon?"
This woman was called Lisa, the same one who had initially misled Samuel into thinking he was there for Maeve.
She knew she'd already left a bad impression on Maeve, so she found a way to make up for it.
"I didn't go to touch up my makeup. I went to do something else."
"What?"
"I won't tell you yet. It's a surprise."
Maeve frowned: "You'd better not cause me trouble."
The Sullivan family wouldn't get into conflicts with anyone in politics.
Lisa laughed twice and said, "Don't worry, I definitely won't cause you trouble."
Hearing this assurance, Maeve couldn't be bothered to talk to her anymore.
Every time she looked at Lisa, she was reminded of how this idiot had momentarily misled her into thinking Samuel liked her.
Amelia's gaze stayed fixed on Lisa's back, her expression thoughtful.
She thought, 'This woman is suspicious. She backed down so quickly, and after I let her go, she didn't make a big fuss about me bullying her. Instead, she just obediently left. It's like she came over specifically to get beaten up.'
Amelia's eyes narrowed slightly as she carefully recalled every detail from when the woman approached until she left.
Suddenly, she touched her pants.
Something had been slipped into her pocket.
She immediately understood what the other person was up to.
Amelia quickly returned to a natural expression and walked to Anna's side, beckoning to Adrian.
"Adrian!"
"Mom, Amelia is calling me."
Seeing it was Amelia, Anna felt comfortable enough to let Adrian leave her side.
Adrian ran over to Amelia.
"Amelia, I'm so bored. I don't understand anything they're talking about. Good thing you called me over, otherwise I would have fallen asleep."
Amelia smiled and crouched down to be at eye level with Adrian.
"Since Adrian is bored, how about helping me put on a little show?"
"Okay!"
Two minutes later, Adrian ran up to Maeve's group.
"Ladies, have you seen my cat?"
Maeve and the others' expressions changed slightly.
However, considering Adrian was Frank's only son, they all suppressed their displeasure and smiled in response: "Haven't seen it."
"It might have run to the garden. Can one of you come help me look for it?"
Maeve's group immediately agreed.
But Adrian said, "My cat is very timid. If there are too many people, it won't come out. Ma'am, you come with me."
As he spoke, he took Lisa's hand.
Lisa instinctively wanted to refuse.
She still had something to do.
But thinking that if she helped Adrian find his cat and made him happy, the Hagen family would be grateful to her, she agreed.
"Let's go then."
The two walked hand in hand and soon reached the back garden.
In the middle of the back garden was a beautiful glass greenhouse filled with gorgeous roses.
Anna had rented this place specifically because she fell in love with the glass greenhouse.
Lisa was also amazed when she first saw it.
Just as she was lost in thought, Adrian suddenly said excitedly: "I found it."
Lisa quickly snapped back: "Where?"
"Over there!" Adrian pointed in a direction.
Lisa looked over but saw nothing.
Just a garden full of flowers.
"Where?"
"Quiet! You scared it! My cat is very afraid of strangers."
Lisa forced a stiff smile.
"Sorry."
But inside, she was extremely annoyed with Adrian.
If he weren't Frank's son, she wouldn't bother helping him find his cat.
If it were an ordinary person's kid, she would have pushed them away long ago.
Kids are so annoying.
"Fine, I won't be mad at you." Adrian pointed to the glass greenhouse: "You go in and wait for me. Don't make any noise. Once I catch my cat, I'll call you out."
Lisa was already tired of helping a kid find his cat, so she immediately agreed and walked into the greenhouse.
Although the greenhouse had transparent glass walls, roses had climbed all over them, blocking her view.
Therefore, she didn't see that after she went in, Adrian turned around and ran back to the villa.
Amelia saw Adrian running back from a distance and changed her expression, looking anxious as she came to Anna's side.
"Anna, I lost something."
Anna valued Amelia highly and immediately asked, "What is it?"
Amelia said, "It's a necklace. I had it in my pocket. Although it's not particularly valuable, this necklace helped me find my way home and reunite with my family. It means a lot to me."
Anna already knew about Amelia's background and the importance of the necklace. She immediately sent servants to search everywhere and ask around.
The commotion made everyone in the living room aware that Amelia had lost something.
"Amelia!"
Adrian spoke up at this moment, his voice very loud.
"Didn't you just have an argument with someone? Could she have taken it on purpose to make you worried?"
Amelia instinctively shook her head: "It shouldn't be that lady, right?"
But as she spoke, her gaze searched through the crowd, then showed a puzzled expression.
"Where is that lady?"
Anna asked: "Which lady?"
"I don't know her name." Amelia looked at Adrian: "Adrian, do you know where she went?"
"I think I saw her going to the back garden with a man."
Everyone exchanged glances.
Everyone was in the living room, so why would a man and woman go alone to the back garden?
Amelia remained calm.
"Then I'll wait for her to come back and ask her."
But Anna was very worried about Amelia.
"That's such an important item. Don't wait. I'll go with you to find her."
"Alright."
So two adults and one child headed to the back garden.
Seeing Anna go out, the others hurried to follow.
Of course, most were driven by curiosity and gossip.
So three people became a whole group, marching toward the back garden.
The back garden wasn't large—you could see everything at a glance. It wasn't a place where people could hide.
The only place to hide was that glass greenhouse.
Amelia walked in front and pushed open the door of the glass greenhouse.
Lisa, inside, was startled by the suddenly opened door and instinctively cried out.
After seeing who it was, Lisa instinctively frowned: "Why is it you? Why did you come too?"
As soon as she finished speaking, she saw it wasn't just Amelia—almost all the guests had come.
A group of people stood in the garden, as if catching a thief.
She was shocked, and a bad feeling rose in her heart.
But she quickly composed herself and asked: "Why did you all come?"
As soon as she finished speaking, Adrian squeezed into the glass greenhouse from beside Amelia's feet.
He looked around and asked Lisa in confusion: "Ma'am, where's the man who came with you?"
Lisa frowned: "What man? Didn't I come with you?"
"That's not right. There was a man... it's only been a moment, Adrian wouldn't remember wrong."
"Your brain..."
Lisa instinctively wanted to curse.
But seeing Anna standing right at the door outside, she had to swallow her words and say patiently: "Adrian, you forgot—didn't you lose your cat? I came to help you find it. What man are you talking about?"
"Cat?"
Adrian showed a completely confused expression: "I don't have a cat. Mom won't let me keep pets."
"How is that possible!" Lisa panicked.
Although she couldn't figure out what was going on, the kid's strange reaction made her very uneasy.
She anxiously explained to Anna, "I really came with Adrian to find his cat."
