Chapter 117 Quit Smoking for Her
Grant followed behind Amelia and asked curiously, "Do you have another friend who's also hospitalized?"
Amelia paused slightly.
"You know him too. You'll see when we get there."
Grant responded with a confused sound, but quickened his pace, his curiosity growing stronger.
Amelia's "friend" was in another inpatient building.
When they arrived at the ward, there wasn't a soul inside.
Amelia had to go ask at the front desk.
"Excuse me, where's the patient in bed number 1?"
"He's not in the ward?"
"No."
Amelia frowned slightly, then suddenly remembered that on the way to the nurses' station, they had passed the emergency stairwell, and there seemed to be someone inside.
She turned and led Grant toward the emergency stairwell.
The door to the stairwell was pushed open, light flooding in, and they could clearly see Felix sitting on the stairs smoking.
Grant froze, and before he could say anything, Amelia had already rushed up in one swift motion, snatched the cigarette from his hand, threw it on the ground and stomped it out.
Felix looked at her in shock, displeasure in his eyes.
But when he saw it was Amelia, the displeasure disappeared, replaced only by delight.
"Amelia?"
Amelia didn't care what expression was on his face. With a stern face, she said, "Do you know this is a hospital? Do you know the respiratory department is upstairs?"
Felix's expression stiffened, and he stood up from the steps.
"I'm sorry."
"You're not sorry to me. If you want to smoke, go downstairs and outside. Don't harm other people."
Felix lowered his head. "Okay."
Grant walked over at this moment.
"Felix, what are you doing here? Aren't you supposed to be out of town?"
Felix glanced at Amelia, not knowing how to explain.
Amelia already trusted Grant completely, so she explained the whole situation. Grant's face went pale as he listened, looking at her with concern. "You weren't injured too without telling us, were you?"
Amelia shook her head. "I wasn't injured."
Grant let out a long breath.
"As long as you're not hurt, you scared me to death! Going into the Combat Arts Association alone—just thinking about it terrifies me. Please don't do such risky things again."
"I know."
Grant smiled again.
"But Amelia, you're really amazing! People outside think the government wiped out the Combat Arts Association, but it was actually you! Is there anything you can't do?"
"There's plenty I can't do."
Felix watched the two of them talking with such familiarity and closeness, feeling very uncomfortable.
He could have been this close to Amelia too.
Grant sensed Felix's dejection and walked over to pat his shoulder.
"Felix, if you can still smoke, it means you're fine. Stay away from the Combat Arts Association from now on, so your family won't worry about you."
Felix moved his lips but said nothing.
Because he felt ashamed.
His family had told him long ago to leave the Combat Arts Association, but he refused, and this was the result.
If it weren't for Amelia, he would be dead by now.
Not only couldn't he help his family, he almost got Amelia hurt. He was truly ashamed.
"Let's go back to the ward to talk."
Amelia didn't spare Felix another glance and turned to leave.
Grant sighed and said to Felix, "Felix, don't blame Amelia. Take it slow, things will get better."
"I don't blame her. It's my own fault."
"So does this mean you can see clearly now who really cares about you—Amelia or Yasmin?"
Felix fell silent again.
His opinion of Amelia had changed, but as for Yasmin, he still couldn't bring himself to dislike her. After all, she was the little sister he'd doted on since childhood, and besides, everything he'd heard about Yasmin came from other people.
Without seeing it with his own eyes, he wouldn't easily believe it.
That's just the kind of person he was.
Grant shook his head, not wanting to say more.
It only takes a moment to see someone clearly.
Felix just hadn't encountered that "moment" yet.
Before that moment came, nothing anyone said would help.
Who told Felix to be such a stubborn person?
The three of them returned to the ward, and Amelia had Grant close the door.
She looked at Felix's face.
There were no visible injuries anymore.
"I'm planning to have you discharged tomorrow," she said directly. "There's something I need you to do."
Hearing this, Felix felt both happy and somewhat melancholy.
She didn't want him to go home because she missed him, but because she needed him to do something.
"I'll follow your arrangements," he said.
Amelia didn't hide anything from Grant and said frankly, "The Combat Arts Association has been cleared out, but the former leader Caleb Cox's whereabouts are unknown. I need you to find a way to locate him."
Samuel had reminded her several times to be careful of this Caleb. She wasn't the type to sit and wait, so she needed to take the initiative.
But Shadow Operations Division had just arrived in Goldenvale and hadn't established a solid foundation yet, and Iron Fist Mafia still hadn't been cleaned up.
Felix knew the Combat Arts Association well, so he was the best choice.
Of course, there was another reason Amelia thought of him.
These past few days, Natalie kept mentioning him.
Mothers always worry about their children, especially Natalie, who was a very kind woman.
But such a woman didn't mention her husband who had been taken away for investigation at all, so Amelia was certain there was something fishy going on.
Natalie must know that Quinton would be fine, which was why she was so at ease.
Amelia had been planning to use Shadow Operations Division's resources to investigate Quinton's situation, but Natalie's unusual behavior stopped her.
She was afraid this was a chess game between Natalie and Quinton.
Using Shadow Operations Division's power might ruin their plan.
"Can you do it?" Amelia asked Felix.
Felix immediately nodded. "Yes! I know a few places where they might be. I'll find him for you as soon as possible."
"Alright, then you'll be discharged tomorrow. Remember to let Mom know, don't just suddenly come home and scare her."
Every word showed concern for Natalie, with no care for Felix as a person.
Felix felt dejected again, but still forced a smile.
"Okay, I know what to do."
With the matter settled, Amelia didn't stay a minute longer and turned to leave.
Grant wanted to call out to Amelia.
He instinctively hoped that siblings would be harmonious, happy, and trust and rely on each other.
But remembering Felix's reaction in the emergency stairwell when he asked if Felix could see Yasmin clearly, he swallowed his words.
Forget it. Once Felix saw through Yasmin, there would be plenty of opportunities later.
"Felix, we're leaving."
Grant still said goodbye to Felix.
Felix smiled stiffly. "Okay, see you tomorrow."
"See you tomorrow."
Grant waved and quickly caught up with Amelia.
Felix watched their backs, finding it hard to breathe.
When Felix felt irritable, he wanted to smoke.
But remembering Amelia's expression when she threw away his cigarette, he stuffed the cigarette back and threw away the whole pack.
Starting today, he decided to quit smoking.
At noon, the two planned to eat out for a change of pace.
Grant suggested seafood, and Amelia, not picky about food, immediately agreed.
They went to a very famous seafood restaurant.
But unexpectedly, they ran into someone annoying.
