Chapter 106 Refusal to Visit
Jeremy didn't even ask what Amelia's proposal was. He just nodded and agreed right away.
"Please tell me. As long as I can do it, I'll definitely get it done for you."
"It's simple," Amelia said. "You're short a female actress. I'll fill in for her and do the shoot. I just ask that you let Lucas participate in the shoot in normal men's clothing."
Jeremy thought it would be something big, but it turned out to be such a small matter.
He immediately agreed: "Sure. Though I'm sorry to trouble Ms. Richardson with the shoot."
"It's no trouble," Amelia said.
The makeup artists quickly swarmed over.
Amelia looked stunning with just light makeup.
In a simple white dress, she easily outshone the other female stars.
As for Lucas, he made Orval look like nothing more than a backdrop.
No, not even a backdrop.
Orval's face darkened, angry but not daring to speak up.
This Jeremy could even scold and hit Louie at will, let alone him.
"Get ready to start!"
At the director's command, the actors took their positions.
But Jeremy made an adjustment, placing Amelia and Lucas in the center among all the artists.
Someone bold enough whispered a reminder: "Lucas's status isn't really good enough for the center position. And that Ms. Richardson, she's not even an entertainer."
Jeremy looked over coldly.
The person immediately lowered his head in fear.
If Orval hadn't secretly paid him off, he wouldn't dare say such things.
Now seeing Jeremy's icy stare, he regretted taking Orval's money.
Fortunately, Jeremy didn't get physical this time. He just said with a half-smile: "I'm thinking of the others. Beautiful people standing in the center make less attractive people look better, and attractive people look even better."
Orval heard this and his expression grew even uglier.
People with guilty consciences always think others are talking about them.
He hated Lucas to the core and secretly vowed to get revenge on him someday.
But for now, he could only endure it.
Once the positions were set, the shooting began.
The theme of this public service announcement was about education in remote mountain villages, so that children who had to walk several hours to get to school could have schools nearby with better teaching conditions.
The Crawford Group planned to donate and build twenty elementary schools this time.
After donating money, people needed to know about it, which is why this public service video was made.
So, since these were schools built with the Crawford Group's donations, the entertainers in the video were naturally from Aurora Media under the Crawford Group.
Amelia was an exception.
But Jeremy felt there was nothing wrong with it.
What's wrong with the future Mrs. Crawford participating in the shoot?
Besides, the painting at the charity auction was done by Amelia.
In every way, she had the right to stand in the center position.
As for Lucas, although he got to stand in the center because of Amelia, he was indeed the most handsome among this group of male entertainers.
Having the handsome Lucas stand in the middle was perfectly fine.
An hour later, the shoot was done.
The original plan was to shoot for a whole day, but with Jeremy personally supervising, no one dared slack off, so they finished ahead of schedule.
After it ended, Jeremy handed Amelia the coffee he had prepared in advance.
Amelia took a sip and thanked him.
Jeremy quickly waved his hand: "I should be thanking you for being willing to help, Ms. Richardson. However—"
He changed his tone and lowered his voice to tell Amelia: "Mr. Crawford seems to be waiting for you at the company. Did you arrange to meet him this morning?"
Amelia remembered the message Samuel had sent her in the middle of the night yesterday.
She hadn't agreed, so she didn't plan to keep the appointment.
But Jeremy's appearance meant she owed him a favor, so she had to go.
She just had a headache—why did it feel like she was owing more and more favors?
"Lucas," Amelia looked at Lucas and said, "I have something else to do. You should go home first."
Lucas hesitated and said: "You came out with me. If we don't go back together, I'm afraid Mom will worry."
"Then help me make up an excuse."
Amelia winked at him.
Playful and cute, Lucas couldn't refuse and had to reluctantly agree.
"I can't do anything with you. Fine, I'll make up an excuse for you."
"Thanks, Lucas," Amelia said sweetly.
Their relationship had unknowingly grown closer.
......
Jeremy had to stay behind to supervise the editing, so he couldn't take Amelia there.
So Lucas acted as driver again, taking Amelia to the Crawford Group's branch office in Goldenvale.
Although it was just a branch, the entire campus covered acres of land, and the tallest building had eighteen floors.
Samuel's office was on the eighteenth floor of Building A.
Jeremy had told her the address, so after saying goodbye to Lucas, Amelia headed straight for the elevator entrance of Building A.
However, before she got there, she was stopped by the receptionist.
"Stop. Where's your employee badge?"
Amelia turned around and explained that she wasn't an employee, she was here to see Samuel.
The receptionist looked her up and down and repeated her words with disdain.
"Looking for Mr. Crawford?"
"Yes."
"Do you have an appointment?"
"No, he's the one who asked me to come."
The receptionist laughed.
"How do I know if what you're saying is true or false? Without an appointment, you can't go up."
Since Samuel came to their branch, at least a hundred people came looking for him every day.
Among them were plenty like Amelia—very pretty women trying to use their looks to get things they didn't deserve.
She'd seen too many people like this.
So she was very dismissive and impatient.
"I suggest you leave now. Don't wait for me to call security. Being chased away by them wouldn't look good."
Amelia frowned.
"I'm telling the truth. If you don't believe me, you can call him and ask if it's true or false."
The receptionist sneered and said: "Don't think you can scare me with this trick. I'm not letting you go up."
Amelia was too lazy to waste words with her. Right in front of the receptionist, she dialed Samuel's number.
But it rang several times and no one answered.
The receptionist looked at her with a widening smile.
"What's wrong? No one's answering? Or is this number not even Mr. Crawford's?"
Amelia said expressionlessly: "Whether this number is his or not, you can check."
She held out her phone.
The receptionist didn't have Samuel's private number at all.
She only had the phone number for Samuel's office.
She had no way to verify it, and didn't want to verify it.
She'd seen too many people like Amelia these past few days. One after another, all trying to seduce Samuel.
Unlike her, who worked diligently and got into the company on her own merit.
She was the closest to Samuel, and even she hadn't had a chance to get close to him yet. What right did these women from outside have?
Especially this Amelia in front of her.
She was a bit too pretty—pretty enough to be annoying.
She wouldn't let Amelia see Samuel.
So the receptionist didn't hesitate to order her to leave.
"Get out of here now! I'll count to three. If you don't leave, I'm calling security."
The other person's terrible attitude made anger rise in Amelia's heart. Just as she was about to speak, a familiar voice came from behind her.
"Amelia?"
Amelia turned around and saw a man wearing a face mask.
