Chapter 101 Homeless
Yasmin cleared her throat and called Kyle.
Kyle on the other end probably didn't expect Yasmin to call back directly, and his heart suddenly started racing.
The strange feeling in his chest made him fully realize that he had fallen for Yasmin at first sight.
As soon as the call connected, Kyle was about to ask about Yasmin's injury when he heard sobbing from her end.
He immediately became anxious: "Yasmin, what's wrong?"
Yasmin said with heavy crying in her voice: "Kyle, I... I'm homeless now."
"Where are you? I'll come find you right now."
Yasmin gave him the address and explained that her previous landlord had inexplicably refused to rent to her, forcing her to stay at a hotel.
But the money she had left wasn't enough to cover a second night's room fee.
A landlord wouldn't refuse to rent for no reason - someone must be causing trouble behind the scenes.
Kyle immediately thought of Amelia.
He already didn't like Amelia, but because she had saved Geraldo, he had sincerely apologized afterward.
But now, his displeasure with Amelia surged up again.
He said: "Wait for me, I'll be right there."
"Okay."
The call ended, and Yasmin showed a victorious expression.
She looked down on Kyle.
The McGinnis family had a big reputation, but limited assets.
She had been raised in luxury by the Richardson family, and later Steven had been extremely generous to her. Her standards had long since become sky-high.
But she could use Kyle to win back Steven's heart.
She understood Steven very well. Seeing her turn around and be with another man, his pride would definitely make him unable to stand it, and he would come looking for her again.
While Yasmin was feeling smug about her plan, Amelia had also woken up.
Because she got up even earlier than Uma, she went to the kitchen herself to make breakfast for the family.
When everyone gradually woke up, they saw a table full of hearty breakfast dishes.
Grant rubbed his eyes, and after confirming he wasn't seeing things, praised Uma: "Uma, your cooking has gotten even better. Did you go somewhere to learn?"
Uma smiled: "Grant, you're mistaken. I didn't make today's breakfast - Ms. Richardson did. When I came downstairs, she had almost finished. I just helped out a little bit."
Everyone immediately looked at Amelia.
Their eyes showed appreciation, and even more, heartache.
Yasmin had never cooked for them before.
The only time she cooked was to make dessert for Steven.
The difference between the two could be seen from just one breakfast.
Natalie's eyes reddened as she held Amelia's hand: "Amelia, you've worked so hard."
This wasn't just about her hard work this morning, but about all her hard work before.
If she hadn't often had to take care of herself, how would she have developed such good cooking skills?
Natalie was touched, but more than that, her heart ached.
Amelia shook her head: "It's not hard. I had nothing else to do anyway. Try it and see if it suits everyone's taste."
"Yes, let's all try Amelia's cooking."
Natalie was the first to pick up her utensils.
After one bite, she couldn't stop praising it.
"Delicious."
The others picked up their utensils one after another, and the large table of breakfast was quickly eaten clean.
Grant patted his stomach and praised: "Amelia, with your cooking skills, you could totally enter Goldenvale's annual Flame Key Culinary Showdown."
Lucas also nodded: "Amelia, your cooking is really good. If you entered the Flame Key Culinary Showdown, you might actually win the championship."
Amelia asked curiously: "What's the Flame Key Culinary Showdown?"
Grant, who knew everything, immediately explained to Amelia.
"The Flame Key Culinary Showdown is the biggest competition in Goldenvale's culinary world. It's only held once a year."
"Every time there's a competition, almost everyone in Goldenvale pays attention."
"Some people even call this competition the Goldenvale socialite competition, because in recent years, the participants have basically been daughters from various wealthy families in Goldenvale."
Amelia immediately lost interest.
She could already tell that this competition was just something organized by daughters of wealthy families to add to their own prestige.
Rather than competing with these socialite daughters, she preferred competing with international professional chefs.
However, she could recommend Faith to participate. Faith came from a family of chefs and was very interested in cooking.
As for her, cooking was just a skill to improve her quality of life.
Seeing that Amelia wasn't interested, the family didn't bring it up again.
Their Amelia didn't need these accolades to add prestige to herself.
Because she herself was a shining diamond.
After breakfast, Lucas said: "Mom, my agent called last night asking me to shoot a public service announcement. I need to go out for a bit. I probably won't be back until evening."
"Okay." Natalie nodded, then reminded him: "Remember not to let yourself be wronged."
She knew Lucas had a personality that only shared good news, not bad.
When he was wronged outside, he never told the family.
Lucas responded: "Okay. I'll come back as soon as I'm done. I'll try to make it back for dinner with everyone."
Amelia spoke up at this moment: "Lucas, can I go with you?"
Lucas hesitated a bit.
It wasn't that he didn't want to take Amelia, but he was afraid of letting Amelia see his difficulties.
He didn't want Amelia to worry about him as her brother.
Amelia said more earnestly: "I won't cause you any trouble. I've just never seen this kind of shoot before and want to broaden my horizons."
Lucas looked at the anticipation in Amelia's eyes and finally softened.
"Okay, I'll take you."
"Thank you, Lucas!"
Liam glanced at Grant at this moment.
Grant understood immediately. He knew Liam wanted him to go along too, to help protect Amelia's safety, so he quickly said: "Lucas, take me too!"
Lucas said with difficulty: "Bringing too many people might be a bit inconvenient."
At the company, he wasn't the one calling the shots.
One person was fine, but bringing two, his agent would probably have something to say.
Amelia smoothly said: "Grant, you stay home and keep Mom company."
She had actively suggested going with Lucas to solve Lucas's difficulties.
With Grant there, it would be somewhat inconvenient for her.
He glanced at Liam and saw him nod slightly too.
With Lucas watching over her, Amelia shouldn't run into any trouble.
Grant nodded: "Alright then, I'll wait at home for you to come back."
Soon the two of them got in the car.
This was the first time Amelia had seen Lucas in normal men's clothing.
After getting in the car, she couldn't help but look at him a few more times.
All the Richardson family brothers were very handsome, but Lucas was especially outstanding.
Although he just had a simple, clean short haircut, he was still so handsome that people thought he had walked out of a comic book.
His features were exquisitely breathtaking - above his straight nose bridge was a pair of deep eyes that seemed to speak.
His facial contours had sharp, defined lines. From any angle, there were no flaws. He looked like someone born to stand in the spotlight.
Such superior looks shouldn't belong to just a marginal figure in the entertainment industry.
He should be hugely popular.
And she would help him achieve that.
