Chapter 199: If You Can't Get It, Destroy It

Chapter 199: If You Can't Get It, Destroy It

Amelia narrowed her eyes slightly.

"What if I don't compete with you?"

Steven let out a cold laugh and snapped his fingers.

As soon as he snapped, over a dozen bodyguards appeared, surrounding Amelia.

And they were holding daggers.

"I'll give you two choices. Either do as I say, or... you know what. This place is in the middle of nowhere - no one can come save you."

But Amelia's eyes still showed no trace of fear, and even wore a faint smile.

Seeing that Amelia showed no sign of being scared, Steven felt increasingly annoyed.

This didn't frighten her?

Was Amelia even a woman?

Amelia just found Steven ridiculous.

He kept many women around him, and perhaps those women were all the type to bully the weak and fear the strong, so he assumed all women were easily scared .

But the world was big - there were plenty of brave and smart girls out there.

Steven's vision was too narrow, and he underestimated women too much.

"You had your people bring me all the way from the city to this remote place just to have sex? Steven, is your brain controlled by your dick?"

Steven's face darkened.

Today he had already lost face twice because of Amelia, in front of his subordinates and friends.

"Amelia, don't be ungrateful!"

Amelia rubbed her neck, which was sore from driving for so long, and asked impatiently, "What do you want to compete in?"

"Racing," Steven said. "I heard from Maeve that you're really good at racing."

Steven had overheard this once when he went to visit the hospital.

Maeve had wanted his help choosing what sports car to buy as a gift for Amelia.

Since Amelia had saved Maeve's life, the Sullivan family should give her a gift.

So he knew that Amelia was very good at racing, which was why Maeve wanted to give her a sports car.

And coincidentally, he owned a mountain used for racing.

Amelia frowned.

Not because she suspected Maeve of betraying her, but because she was certain that Steven wanted more than just to race with her.

He wanted her dead.

Racing on mountain roads was very dangerous - if something dangerous happened during the race, that would be perfectly normal.

If he couldn't have her, he would destroy her.

This fit Steven's way of thinking perfectly.

And because he was wary of her closeness to Samuel, plus the fact that other members of the Sullivan family all respected her greatly, he didn't dare come at her directly.

So he had to use this method.

—She died in a racing accident, perfectly normal.

Even if Steven was the one who brought her here, it was still an accident. People could criticize him, but they couldn't really do anything to him.

What a great plan.

Amelia almost wanted to applaud him.

If she hadn't thought calmly and been eager to get away from him, she would have really fallen for it.

But Amelia didn't refuse.

"Fine, who's racing against me?"

Seeing her agree, Steven was delighted and said, "One of my people."

He raised his hand slightly, and the girl with the earring from earlier stepped forward.

She had stopped crying, her face showing no emotion.

Amelia found her very familiar and took another look at the girl.

She heard Steven say, "I'm a grown man - if I raced you, that would be bullying. So you can race against Ava Baker."

Ava Baker.

Amelia knew why Ava looked familiar.

She glanced at Ava again, then quickly looked back at Steven.

"Since you know I'm good at racing, you should know that ordinary people are no match for me."

"Ava is no ordinary person. If you race her, you might not win."

"Whether she's good or not, I need to see for myself."

As Amelia spoke, she lifted her chin toward a sports car in the distance.

"Have her take me for one lap, and I'll know if she's qualified to race me."

Ava was displeased.

"Everyone knows my driving skills. I'm a professional racer."

Amelia cut her off directly. "I need to see it with my own eyes to believe it."

Ava clenched her fists and said to Steven, "Then I'll take her for a lap."

Steven agreed.

Amelia soon got in the same car as Ava.

The car sped off, heading down the mountain.

Ava's driving skills were indeed very skilled.

She drifted around corners without even lifting her eyes.

But Amelia spoke up at this moment.

"What's your relationship with Alice?"

Ava's hands on the steering wheel froze, and the car almost crossed the guardrail at the cliff's edge.

Fortunately, she adjusted in time.

"When I'm driving, can you not talk! If I get distracted, you'll die with me!"

Amelia smiled lightly.

"What's there to fear about dying? What's scary is dying without knowing why."

"What do you mean?" Ava couldn't focus on showing off her driving skills anymore and slowly eased off the gas.

But Amelia didn't answer. Instead, she brought up Alice again.

"Alice is your sister, right? You two look very alike."

...

Soon, the car returned to the mountaintop.

The driver had switched to Amelia.

She opened the car door and got out.

Ava followed from the passenger seat.

She came before Steven with her head down.

"I'm sorry, Steven. My driving skills aren't as good as hers."

Steven frowned, then heard Ava continue, "I drove down, and she drove back up. I could tell - I'm no match for her."

Steven glared fiercely at Ava.

The plan had gone wrong because of Ava.

"Useless!"

He raised his hand and gave her another hard slap.

It wasn't like hitting a person, more like hitting an animal.

Amelia said, "If she races me, she'll definitely lose. You should find someone else. I don't want people saying I bully others. How about you race me yourself?"

Steven was full of anger.

This wasn't part of his plan.

But thinking it over, it didn't matter who raced Amelia - it wouldn't affect the plan's execution.

In fact, if he raced personally, he could witness Amelia's fate with his own eyes.

Thinking this, his expression softened.

"I didn't expect Ms. Richardson's driving skills to be as good as her medical skills. In that case, I'll race you myself!"

"Fine. But I need to use the restroom."

Steven looked at Ava. "Take her!"

"Yes."

Ava, covering her stinging face, led Amelia to the mountaintop restroom.

The mountaintop was equipped not only with restrooms but also a small repair shop and a rest area.

Steven went to the rest area and was discussing the upcoming arrangements with his subordinates when suddenly a group of people drove up.

His face changed instantly.

"Who are these people? Who let them up!"

A subordinate stepped forward.

"Steven, I'm the one who let them up."

"When was this? How dare you let random people up here." Steven was about to curse when the door of the lead car opened.

A girl with wavy curls stepped out.

"Steven!" Maeve's face was slightly pale, but her lips curved in a full smile.

It was Maeve.

Seeing it wasn't Samuel but Maeve, Steven breathed a sigh of relief, though his brow furrowed again.

He walked up to her in a few steps, his tone very unfriendly. "Why are you here? You just got out of the hospital - what are you doing running around in the middle of the night? Go back now!"

He pointed to someone, telling them to take Maeve home.

"What do you mean middle of the night? It's only after nine - my nightlife is just beginning. Aren't you the same?"

Maeve said, hugging Steven's arm and acting unusually coy.

"Steven, just let me stay here. I won't race, I'll just watch. I was so bored in the hospital - don't send me back. If I stay cooped up any longer, I'll really go crazy."

She added, "Or are you planning to do something bad and don't want me to see, so you want me gone?"

Her words left Steven unable to insist on sending her back.

He said, "Amelia and I are going to race in a bit. After you watch the race, go home."

Maeve's eyes lit up. "Amelia's here too?"

"You didn't know she was here?"

"How would I know? I thought she went home."

Steven felt slightly reassured.

Since Maeve wasn't brought here by Amelia, she probably wouldn't ruin things.

"Then just behave yourself!"

Maeve thanked Steven repeatedly.

"Thank you, Steven. You're the best! Is there anything to eat here? I'm hungry."

"Such a pain! There's a fruit platter over there - get it yourself!"

Steven's face was full of disgust.

He truly found Maeve annoying.

Short-sighted, spoiled, and someone whose head was filled with romance.

If Isaac hadn't suddenly gone crazy, she probably would have really married him.

If that day had come, he wouldn't have acknowledged Maeve.

People who couldn't help him - even if it was Maeve - he would disown them all.

He just hoped Maeve wouldn't interfere with his business. Otherwise, he would deal with her too!

A flash of coldness crossed Steven's eyes.

Maeve caught it.

She hid the coldness in her own eyes well and turned to call out to the "friends" she'd brought.

"There's a fruit platter here! Come eat!"

Some responded, while others wanted to look around.

For a moment, the rest area became quite chaotic.

Steven felt very uncomfortable.

"Tell your friends not to wander around!"

But several people had already started exploring.

Steven felt even more irritated.

He asked his subordinates, "Where's Amelia? Still not back from the bathroom?"

As soon as he finished speaking, Ava returned with Amelia.

She had changed into racing gear from here.

Steven understood why Amelia had taken so long in the bathroom.

As she approached, he could see Amelia more clearly.

In racing gear, her figure was even more shapely.

Steven felt some regret about today's arrangement.

Perhaps he should have had her first, then destroyed her.

But it was too late for regrets now.

He would just destroy her.

He didn't have much real feeling for Amelia - just a man's possessiveness.

He actually had some genuine feelings for Yasmin, though.

But for him, he himself was the most important.

Seeing Amelia, Maeve immediately approached.

"Amelia, I thought you went home. Why did you suddenly come here to race?"

Amelia's eyes darkened.

On the drive back, she had called Maeve again.

They had agreed to use the first sentence they said upon meeting as a code.

If Maeve acted "surprised" that she came here to race, then the code would match, and Amelia could continue with her plan.

If the code didn't match, then Maeve disagreed with her plan.

She would spare Steven's life.

Amelia glanced at Steven with feigned coldness.

"You should ask Steven why I ended up here."
