Chapter 135 Breaking In
"Exactly!"
Kyle was more direct with his words.
He strode forward a few steps, coming up to those bodyguards to make threats.
"If you guys don't get lost, don't blame me for what happens!"
The bodyguards' expressions didn't change one bit - they didn't take Kyle seriously at all.
How could someone like Kyle, who held paintbrushes, be a match for people like them who carried knives?
Besides, York had personally instructed them to follow Ms. Richardson's orders.
Without Amelia coming, they wouldn't let anyone in - not even a fly.
Their dismissive attitude made Kyle even more furious.
"Dad! Forget about them, let's just force our way in. I don't believe they'd actually dare to lay hands on us!"
"Well..."
Kyle's father hesitated.
After all, these were Samuel's people - they couldn't afford to offend them.
But they still didn't know what was going on with Geraldo inside.
He'd clearly been moved to a regular ward, so why weren't they allowed to see him?
Had something happened?
Kyle's father was a filial man. After hesitating, he finally worked up his courage.
"Let's go!"
They would force their way in if they had to!
The commotion here also drew doctors and nurses over to see what was happening.
More and more people gathered. Seeing this, the four bodyguards began to hesitate as well.
After all, Geraldo in that room was their relative.
They really had no reason to stop them from going in.
One bodyguard said, "How about we let them in? York only told us to watch out for suspicious people approaching Geraldo; he didn't say to keep family members away."
Another bodyguard insisted firmly, "No! York also said to follow Ms. Richardson's arrangements."
The bodyguards were divided, and Yasmin seized the opportunity.
She bent down and ducked under their arms.
Just as she was about to slip into the hospital room, a figure suddenly appeared and grabbed the back of her collar.
Yasmin felt her neck tighten as someone gripped her collar, then she went flying and fell heavily toward the ground.
Luckily, Kyle reacted quickly and caught Yasmin around the waist in time, preventing her from hitting the floor.
She was still shaken, but at the same time, anger surged up inside her.
Who dared to treat her like this!
After Yasmin steadied herself, she looked toward that person.
The next second, she saw Amelia.
Amelia looked somewhat similar to her, but their eyes were very different.
When Amelia wasn't smiling, her gaze was very cold.
"It's you..."
Here again!
But Amelia couldn't be bothered to waste words with Yasmin. She commanded the four bodyguards in a stern voice.
"Don't let anyone in before I come out."
Seeing Amelia, the men immediately had a backbone and responded, "Yes!"
Amelia then pushed open the hospital room door and closed it behind her.
Yasmin instinctively tried to chase after her.
"Wait, hold on..."
But the next second, she was blocked by the bodyguards.
"No need to worry, everyone. Once Ms. Richardson comes out, you can go in. We won't keep you waiting long."
Kyle was still defiant.
Why could Amelia, an outsider, go in to see Geraldo, while they, his own family, couldn't?
Kyle was about to speak when his father gave him a warning look.
"Dad..."
"Shut up!"
Since they said once Amelia came ou,t they could go in, there was no need to rush.
To offend Samuel over waiting a few minutes - that wouldn't be a good deal at all.
And clearly, this Ms. Richardson wasn't their enemy, otherwise she wouldn't have gone into the operating room to save him before.
There was no need to make enemies for themselves.
Kyle was unhappy but didn't dare disobey his dad, so he could only suppress his anger for now.
But Yasmin's anger burned even hotter than Kyle's.
She had already planned everything out.
Before, with Samuel's people guarding, she couldn't get into the ICU, so she could only wait until Geraldo came out.
Now that Geraldo had been moved to a regular ward, it was when he was most physically and mentally vulnerable.
As long as she used Kyle's feelings to provoke him a little, Geraldo would surely have another incident.
For this plan, she had even given up her own body, sleeping with Kyle for a night.
But just when success was within reach, Amelia appeared.
She was like a ghost that wouldn't go away, always haunting her and ruining her plans!
Yasmin's hands clenched into tight fists, not even noticing her nails digging into her flesh.
Inside the hospital room.
Because the door had good soundproofing and Geraldo was still very weak, he hadn't heard the commotion outside.
But seeing Amelia, a trace of pleasant surprise appeared on his face.
"Amelia, you came."
Geraldo struggled to sit up, but Amelia gently pressed his shoulder.
"Lie still, be careful of your wound."
Geraldo nodded.
His wound hadn't healed yet, and he still had a pain pump attached.
After Amelia saw him lie back down obediently, she got straight to the point: "I came today not just to see you, but also to inform you about something."
"What?"
Amelia reminded him, "It's about what I told you last time, about your grandson and Yasmin. These past few days, I had people look into it, and they're already living together now."
Geraldo's brow immediately furrowed.
"That unfilial grandson, actually getting together with the person who tried to kill me!"
"Calm down. I told you before, you can't get emotionally worked up. Did you forget?"
Geraldo took several deep breaths to calm himself down.
Amelia waited until he was calm before continuing, "Right now Yasmin and your grandson are outside the door. I had my people stop her."
Geraldo couldn't believe it.
"She almost killed me, and she still dares to show up in front of me?"
Amelia scoffed, "Not only does she dare appear in front of you, but she also dares to try to kill you again. If I'm not mistaken, the reason she dared to come is to provoke you into having another attack. Once you're dead, she'll never have to worry about the truth coming out."
Geraldo's eyes widened.
He was both furious and couldn't believe there could be such a vicious person in the world.
But Amelia had seen too many people with such despicable methods.
So she remained calm every time she encountered Yasmin.
"That's why, before I came in, I had my people stop her. Otherwis,e you'd probably be back in the operating room by now, worked up by her again."
Geraldo was angry, but more than that, he was grateful.
"Amelia, you've saved my life twice."
From the doctor, he had already learned that Amelia had performed his surgery.
Amelia said, "Don't speak too soon. Whether you can recover well this time depends on you."
Geraldo was an older person after all, more steady in temperament than young people.
Since he now understood what Yasmin was trying to do, he wouldn't let her succeed.
"Amelia, you came specially to tell me this, so does that mean you've already thought of a way to deal with her?"
Amelia nodded and brought up Kyle.
"Your grandson is really too stupid. Sometimes, stupidity is more annoying than being bad. Fortunately, he has one good quality - he's fairly filial to you."
During this time, whenever Kyle had time, he would come to see Geraldo.
Even if he couldn't get into the ICU, he would wait outside the door.
Geraldo gave a bitter smile.
He didn't know whether to praise or scold Kyle.
He heard Amelia continue, "You can use your grandson's filial piety to plant seeds of doubt in his heart..."
She told Geraldo her plan.
Actually, if it weren't to prevent Geraldo from being angered to death by Kyle, she wouldn't need to go to this much trouble - she could directly use the existing evidence to send Yasmin away.
But Yasmin's one life wasn't worth sacrificing Geraldo's life for.
So she would first let Kyle see Yasmin's true nature.
After Amelia finished explaining the plan, Geraldo nodded solemnly.
"I'll do as you say."
Amelia nodded. A silver needle appeared between her fingers, which she inserted into a spot on Geraldo's body.
"When you can't control your emotions, push the needle in a little."
"Okay."
Thinking everything was foolproof, Amelia turned and left.
If she didn't leave, Yasmin wouldn't dare make trouble, and the subsequent plan couldn't be carried out.
After leaving the room, Amelia paid no attention to the McGinnis family.
She didn't even give them an extra glance before walking away.
Though Kyle's parents were grateful that Amelia had helped, her proud attitude made them feel a bit uncomfortable.
But considering she knew Samuel, they didn't show anything; they only asked the bodyguards at the door, "Can we go in now?"
"Please go ahead."
The bodyguards no longer blocked them, and the McGinnis family went in smoothly.
Yasmin looked suspiciously at Amelia's retreating figure, feeling inexplicably uneasy.
Amelia had clearly chatted with Geraldo inside for so long, yet after coming out, she didn't say anything to her, which was strange.
But Kyle's voice interrupted her thoughts.
"Yasmin?"
Yasmin snapped back and followed Kyle into the room.
In the single room, Geraldo lay on the hospital bed with IVs in both hands.
The McGinnis couple's eyes welled up with tears as they approached and said many things.
Geraldo seemed very tired, responding only occasionally.
Just then the doctor came to call Kyle's parents to the doctor's office, so soon only Geraldo, Kyle, and Yasmin remained in the room.
Yasmin felt a bit guilty.
But thinking of her plan, she still put on a smile.
"Mr. McGinnis."
Geraldo's expression didn't change, but his words came out cold.
"Seems you've forgotten what I told you before, so I'll repeat it - a copycat like you doesn't deserve to be my student."
Yasmin pretended to be hurt.
Her beautiful eyes filled with tears.
Kyle immediately felt sorry for her.
He put his arm around Yasmin's shoulder and said to Geraldo, "Grandpa, I know there are many misunderstandings between you and Yasmin, but Yasmin has explained everything to me. This really is just a misunderstanding."
Geraldo looked at his grandson, whom he had raised himself, and spoke unhurriedly.
"Is her being a copycat who repeatedly plagiarized her brother's work and passed it off as her own a misunderstanding? Or is it a misunderstanding that she deliberately threw away my medicine when she saw me having an attack?"
Kyle froze.
Deliberately threw it away?
But Yasmin had clearly said it was an accident...
As complex emotions stirred in his heart, Yasmin grabbed his hand.
"Kyle, forget it. I knew Mr. Geraldo McGinnis had misunderstood me. I shouldn't have come here today. I'm leaving..."
