Chapter 118 The Fiancé Is Him? Ridiculous

Chapter 118 The Fiancé Is Him? Ridiculous

This seafood restaurant was quite expensive, but there weren't many customers inside.

"Amelia, you need to go to the kitchen area to order here. Want to come with me?"

This restaurant was famous for its fresh ingredients. For seafood items, customers had to pick them out themselves.

Amelia waved her hand: "You go ahead."

"Okay." Grant already knew Amelia's tastes well, so he wasn't worried about ordering something she wouldn't like. He followed the server to the ordering area.

But as soon as Grant left, another server came over, holding a bottle of expensive white wine.

"Are you Ms. Richardson?"

Amelia nodded, her eyes falling on the wine bottle in the server's hand, looking confused.

"You've got the wrong person. We didn't order any wine."

"This wine is from a guest in a private room upstairs. Should I open it for you now?"

Amelia looked up at the second floor.

She could only see a glass window with figures behind it, but couldn't make them out clearly.

"Who's upstairs? What's their name?"

"I'm not sure about that. They're also a customer who just came to eat, like you."

Amelia responded, then said: "Then please take it back upstairs for me. I don't drink wine from people I don't know."

The server looked troubled.

Amelia directly pulled out a hundred dollars.

"Thanks for making the trip. This is your tip."

A server's daily wage was only about a hundred dollars, so he immediately beamed with joy.

"No trouble at all, it's my pleasure."

After taking the money, he brought the wine back upstairs.

...

In the private room on the second floor.

Efrain was enjoying his friends' flattery.

"Efrain, you're so lucky. Your fiancée is actually this beautiful."

The man who had just walked back from the window said with an envious look.

Efrain raised an eyebrow, quite pleased with himself.

That day Felicity had asked him to go to The Richardson Manor for Amelia's welcome party, hinting that she wanted to set him up with Amelia.

Unexpectedly, Samuel had jumped in halfway, saying he was Amelia's fiancé.

He'd been shocked at the time.

Later when he got home and told Billy and Felicity about it, they said he'd been too forward, and Samuel had only said that to help Amelia out of an awkward situation.

That put his mind at ease.

But because he hadn't succeeded that day, he'd been thinking about Amelia even more.

He hadn't expected to run into Amelia at this restaurant when he went to the restroom earlier.

But he put on a helpless expression.

"I didn't choose her. My uncle and aunt arranged it for me. I'm so sick of them. What century is this, and they're still interfering with my marriage? At least she's not ugly."

Everyone around knew the uncle Efrain mentioned was Billy.

They hung around with someone as useless as Efrain precisely because of his connection to Billy.

Otherwise, with Efrain's parents' status, he wouldn't be worthy of being their friend.

Several people exchanged glances and flattered him even more enthusiastically.

"What do you mean 'not ugly'? I just saw her - she's like a goddess."

"Efrain, you just don't know how good you've got it!"

Efrain shrugged.

"What do you mean I don't know how good I've got it? I'm not even interested in her. Her family went bankrupt. If it weren't for Uncle Billy insisting I marry her, and her being desperate to marry me after meeting me once, I wouldn't bother with her."

As Efrain kept talking, he started believing his own lies.

Arrogant men always like to spin their own stories.

Just as he finished speaking, the server pushed open the door to the private room.

He was still holding that bottle of white wine Efrain had sent downstairs.

"Gentlemen." The server walked forward with the wine and said: "The lady downstairs asked me to return this."

The room fell silent. Everyone looked at Efrain.

Efrain awkwardly touched his nose.

Fortunately, the server continued: "The lady said she doesn't drink wine from people she doesn't know."

Someone immediately eased the awkward atmosphere: "No wonder she sent it back. Efrain, you didn't tell her who you were. How would she dare drink the wine?"

Efrain's face broke into a smile again.

He said to the server: "Tell her it's from her fiancé. Tell her she can drink it without worry."

He also gave the server a tip.

But much more than what Amelia had given.

The server didn't dare accept it now.

Amelia had thought of this, which is why she'd only given a hundred dollars.

The server nervously declined the tip and went back downstairs with the wine bottle.

He repeated the message word for word to Amelia.

"Fiancé?" Amelia rolled her eyes.

She wondered who it was - turned out to be Samuel.

She'd already told him not to keep calling himself her fiancé. Their engagement was already canceled. Did Samuel have holes in his ears, so everything went in one ear and out the other?

But wait, was his illness better already?

He could already come out drinking?

Samuel was pretty wild. He wouldn't mix antibiotics with alcohol, would he?

Thinking of this, Amelia felt a bit restless.

Though she didn't know why she felt restless.

"Which private room are they in? I'll go up and check."

The server quickly told her the room number.

Amelia took the wine and headed upstairs.

But worried that Grant would come back and panic when he didn't see her, she sent him a message telling him she'd gone to private room 201 upstairs to find Samuel and would be right back.

Grant replied with an "OK."

Amelia felt reassured and went upstairs.

Reaching the door, she knocked. The laughter and conversation inside quieted down, and a familiar voice came through.

"Come in."

Amelia couldn't quite place whose voice it was, but it definitely wasn't Samuel's.

Samuel's voice was magnetic and pleasant to hear.

When he spoke coldly, it could scare people to death.

She found it strange that it wasn't Samuel speaking.

But she didn't think much of it and turned the doorknob to enter.

The people in the private room had been checking out Amelia through the window. From that distance, through the glass, they couldn't see very clearly.

Now seeing her in person, their eyes lit up again and again.

She was even more attractive than viewing her through the glass.

But her taste wasn't great.

How did she fall for someone like Efrain?

Though maybe she wasn't interested in Efrain himself, but in the Young family's power and influence.

The Richardson family needed the Young family's help.

Thinking of it that way, it wasn't so strange.

Just a shame that such a beautiful woman ended up with a waste like Efrain.

But none of them showed any of this on their faces, greeting Amelia with smiles.

"Ms. Richardson."

"What Ms. Richardson? In a little while we'll have to call her Mrs. Young!"

Efrain stared at Amelia without speaking, but his greedy eyes said it all.

And Amelia finally saw Efrain.

No wonder she hadn't noticed him - Efrain was too ordinary. Without looking carefully, you wouldn't notice him at all.

Seeing it was Efrain, Amelia felt nauseous.

She hadn't even noticed that when Samuel said she was his fiancée, though she didn't like it, she hadn't been unhappy either.

But Efrain - she felt physically disgusted.

She was probably someone who cared about appearances deep down.

People naturally feel good about attractive people.

Efrain didn't notice Amelia's emotional change. Encouraged by his friends' jeering, he shamelessly walked forward.
