Chapter 116 He Is Too Ugly
He couldn't let Maeve see him!
His face was too ugly now.
So ugly that he didn't even dare look at himself in the mirror. One glance and he wanted to throw up.
Let alone Maeve?
Maeve had been attracted to him from the start because of his face.
Because he looked like her first love who died in a car accident.
Now forget looking like her first love—he didn't even look human.
Isaac forced himself to calm down.
He said into his phone: "I'm not home right now."
"What?" Maeve downstairs stopped in her tracks.
"I'm still at the hospital."
"Okay then, I'll come find you at the hospital. Which hospital are you at?"
Isaac lied and said he was at Dawnview General Hospital.
"Then I'll come find you at Dawnview General Hospital."
"Okay."
The call ended. Isaac saw Maeve get back in her car and let out a long breath of relief.
When Maeve got to the hospital, he could say he suddenly had to go to the company.
Dawnview General Hospital was an hour and a half drive from the Sullivan Group, and his home was another hour's drive from Dawnview General Hospital.
Going back and forth like that, someone impatient like Maeve would quickly give up looking for him.
He could get through today.
Isaac thought his plan was perfect.
But just then, the doorbell rang, and Maeve's voice came through: "Is anyone home?"
Piper was about to go open the door when Isaac stopped her.
"Don't open the door. I can't let her see my face."
Piper suddenly came to her senses, nodded, and didn't dare make a sound.
However, the sound of the password lock being opened came from the door.
Isaac suddenly remembered—he had once told Maeve the password to his door.
Without thinking twice, he turned and hid in the kitchen, closing the kitchen door behind him.
The next second, Maeve came in.
Seeing Piper, Maeve's brow furrowed with displeasure.
Before Piper could speak, Maeve spoke first: "You must be the new maid, right? Are you deaf? I rang the doorbell and you didn't hear it?"
Her condescending tone made Piper swallow back all her self-introduction.
Her future daughter-in-law looked down on her.
She had always known this, and Isaac knew it too, which is why Isaac hadn't dared tell Maeve about bringing her here.
Originally she wanted to introduce herself, but when Maeve opened her mouth and assumed she was a maid, somehow she couldn't get the words of introduction out.
"I'm sorry, I didn't hear it." She apologized, accepting by default that she was a maid.
Maeve ignored her.
The daughter of the Sullivan family didn't need to respond to a maid's apology.
Piper's face turned even paler.
There was anger inside her with nowhere to vent.
Over there, Maeve turned and snapped her fingers.
It was Maeve's two bodyguards.
Both were carrying cardboard boxes filled with documents of all sizes.
"Put them there." Maeve pointed to a spot, then said to Piper: "I got Isaac time off work. He'll be working from home these next few days. Help him organize these and move them to the study. I'm going to the hospital to pick him up."
With that, she didn't wait for Piper's response and turned to leave.
The door slammed shut heavily.
Piper felt like the door had slammed into her face. Her hands clenched into tight fists.
Soon after, Isaac quietly emerged from the kitchen, peeking toward the entrance.
"Is she gone?"
Piper turned around, her eyes covered with a layer of bloodshot veins that looked even more sinister upon closer inspection.
Isaac was startled and asked: "Mom, what's wrong?"
Piper opened her mouth. She had many things she wanted to say, but when they reached her lips, they became just one sentence: "You need to find a way to marry her soon."
Once married, Maeve would be part of the Reynolds family.
Have a child, tie her down, and Maeve could never escape.
When that time came, she could get her revenge however she wanted.
But Isaac didn't know why Piper suddenly said this.
All the doors in the house were thick with good soundproofing, so he didn't know what had happened outside.
He couldn't help but touch his face.
Even through the mask, he could feel the bumps and irregularities on his face.
He said irritably: "Don't I want to get married soon?"
If it weren't for his damned rural background, he would have married Maeve long ago.
But deep down he was still filial, so he didn't say the second half of that sentence out loud and turned back to his room.
He needed to look up which dermatology clinics in Goldenvale had good technology.
And over an hour later, just as he predicted, when Maeve heard he had gone to the company again, she impatiently said she'd come see him another day.
Maeve had feelings for him, but she cared more about herself.
After getting his face fixed, he really needed to think of a way to get Maeve to marry him sooner.
In the blink of an eye, it was the next day.
Amelia had Grant find an excuse to take her out.
The two first went to Dawnview General Hospital to visit Geraldo.
What surprised Amelia was that Geraldo's grandson Kyle actually appeared at the ICU entrance together with Yasmin.
It made sense for Kyle to be waiting here, but why would Yasmin be with him?
And their behavior seemed quite intimate.
Very strange.
Yasmin's boyfriend should be Steven.
She had high standards but low abilities and looked down on Kyle.
Amelia quickly guessed the reason: Steven didn't want her anymore.
This was bound to happen, just faster than she expected.
"Ms. Richardson." Kyle came up to greet her proactively.
Amelia ignored him and only asked the doctor: "Has Geraldo woken up?"
The doctor was Rodolfo, who was supposed to be the lead surgeon that day, and he greatly respected Amelia.
"He woke up once last night, but only for a few seconds before falling back asleep."
Amelia nodded and asked a few questions about Geraldo's physical data.
Not too good, not too bad.
Given Geraldo's age, having these numbers was already quite good.
"Then I'll trouble you to keep a closer eye on him for me."
"Of course."
Amelia nodded and left directly with Grant.
From beginning to end, she didn't look at Kyle once, as if he didn't exist.
Kyle's expression was ugly, and Yasmin's expression was equally ugly.
Just for different reasons.
One felt embarrassed and angry at being ignored, while the other felt a conditioned physical disgust when seeing Amelia.
"Let's go too. The doctor said he might not wake up today either. Let me take you to lunch." Kyle quickly adjusted his attitude and said to Yasmin with a smile.
Yasmin was now living in a house under Kyle's name.
Only a thousand square feet—compared to Steven's previous three-thousand-square-foot luxury apartment, it was two-thirds smaller.
She was very disdainful in her heart, but what she showed was full of gratitude.
Kyle was completely fooled by her.
She nodded with a smile and said okay.
As she left, her eyes looked deeply through the glass window at Geraldo in the ICU.
This damned Geraldo, when would he finally die?
As long as he didn't die, he was a ticking time bomb.
She had to think of a way.
After leaving the ICU, Amelia didn't leave the hospital directly but took Grant to a patient room.
