Chapter 103 Makeup
Louie held back again and again.
Under normal circumstances, he would have blown up already.
But today was special - the promotional video they were shooting was a public service announcement, but it had a sponsor.
Now that the sponsor had arrived, they needed to start filming right away.
Otherwise, if they kicked Lucas out, it would be really hard to find a replacement on such short notice.
He suppressed his anger and forced out through gritted teeth: "I'm sorry!"
Lucas glanced at Amelia, using his eyes to ask if she wanted to forgive Louie.
Amelia nodded slightly.
She had only come to understand the situation, not to cause trouble for Lucas.
Seeing her nod, Lucas followed Louie's instructions and went to the makeup room.
Amelia followed right behind.
Louie wanted to stop them.
The studio here was temporary, so there was only one makeup room, and Orval was inside too - no random people were allowed in.
But when his staff gave him a warning look, Louie had to hold back.
Everything could wait until after filming.
After filming, he would make Lucas regret this.
And of course, that Amelia - he wouldn't let her off either.
...
Amelia followed Lucas into the makeup room.
Inside, Orval was directing the stylists and makeup artists.
Just one face, yet surrounded by six or seven staff members.
"I want this strand of hair down, covering this side."
"The eyeshadow is too heavy, wipe some off."
"Make the contour darker, my face is a bit puffy today."
As Orval spoke, he took a sip of coffee and immediately spat it out.
"Why is this room temperature? I wanted an iced Americano. How stupid can you be, buying me room temperature?"
As he spoke, Orval kicked his assistant.
Though the assistant's face turned pale with pain, she still endured it and explained: "That shop ran out of ice. I was afraid you'd be anxious waiting, so I bought room temperature first."
"You can't do your job right and you dare make excuses? If that shop had no ice, couldn't you go to another one? If you're not going to use your brain, you might as well donate it!"
The assistant's eyes turned red, but she didn't dare let the tears fall.
Near the studio, there was only that one coffee shop.
If she had gone somewhere else, coming back late would also mean a beating.
Amelia and Lucas had just entered when they saw this scene, both frowning at the same time.
This wasn't Lucas's first time seeing Orval bully his assistant, but every time he saw it, he still got angry.
Orval didn't come from a performing arts background - he was originally just a street punk.
He was discovered by a talent scout because of his good looks, which led to where he is today.
But a person's character doesn't improve just because their wallet gets fatter. Orval's habit of bullying people never changed.
Seeing the assistant kicked so hard she was about to pass out, Lucas couldn't stand it anymore. He walked over and helped the assistant up.
"Orval, I bought an iced Americano on my way here. If you don't mind, you can have mine. Let's not hurt our relationship over this."
Orval disliked Lucas.
Though this guy had always been a D-list celebrity, his face was too perfect, giving Orval a strong sense of crisis.
Orval had no acting skills or special talents - he became famous purely based on his face.
If the audience noticed Lucas, his status would be in danger.
So even though Lucas was speaking kindly, Orval's face immediately darkened.
"Relationship? I'm disciplining my assistant - is it your place to play peacemaker?"
The assistant also tugged at Lucas's sleeve, shaking her head, signaling him to let it go.
Lucas was afraid Orval would resent the assistant even more because of this, so he didn't say anything more. After handing over his iced coffee, he returned to his makeup station.
Seeing Lucas's submissive behavior, Orval laughed.
He felt a bit better.
But when he turned and saw Amelia's face, his eyes immediately lit up.
"You are?"
Amelia knew he was talking to her, but she ignored him and followed Lucas away.
Talking to someone like this was a waste of breath.
Orval's face immediately showed displeasure.
This was the first woman who dared to ignore him since he became famous.
Seeing that Amelia was following Lucas, Orval's expression grew even darker.
Over there, Lucas sat at the makeup station for a long time, but not a single staff member came over.
Lucas seemed used to it, so he waited patiently.
Amelia didn't have that much patience and asked directly for Lucas: "Excuse me, which makeup artist is responsible for my brother's makeup today?"
At these words, one of the makeup artists next to Orval glanced over, then looked hesitantly at Orval.
Orval laughed coldly and said, "Go ahead, I don't need you here anyway."
But the makeup artist clearly heard the threatening tone in his words.
She only hesitated for a second before continuing to do Orval's makeup.
Even though Orval's side didn't lack people at all.
She wasn't deliberately neglecting Lucas - she just couldn't afford to offend Orval.
Between a D-list celebrity and a currently popular artist, how to choose? Too easy to choose.
Amelia's eyes narrowed slightly. Just as she was about to speak, Lucas tugged at her sleeve.
"Forget it, I can start after he finishes his makeup."
Amelia took a deep breath, then suddenly smiled.
"Lucas, if you don't mind, I'll do your makeup? My skills are pretty good."
Though she rarely did her own makeup, that didn't mean she couldn't do makeup.
People who can paint, as long as they put their mind to it, won't be bad at makeup either.
Faith loved makeup, and she had practiced her skills by often doing Faith's makeup.
"Sure." Lucas nodded.
It wasn't that he believed Amelia's skills were that good, but he didn't want to dampen her enthusiasm.
If it turned out badly, worst case they could wash it off and redo it.
Making Amelia happy was what mattered.
So Amelia picked up a brush and started applying foundation on Lucas.
Lucas's skin was very good and didn't need any concealer. The base makeup only needed a thin layer to make his complexion look better.
Amelia did the makeup based on Lucas's facial strengths.
People who can paint understand better how to emphasize strengths and minimize weaknesses when doing makeup.
Amelia finished quickly.
"Lucas, look in the mirror."
Lucas didn't have high expectations as he put down the script and looked over.
But when he looked up at the mirror, he was immediately amazed.
The person in the mirror was still him, but somehow different from before.
He couldn't say exactly what was different, but everything seemed more refined than before.
Simply put, his face now had that quality that popular stars have.
As if he suddenly had the ability to draw people's focus wherever he went, no matter where he was.
Lucas was stunned for two seconds before coming back to his senses, looking at Amelia in disbelief.
"Amelia, you're amazing."
"It's because you have a good foundation. I just did it casually and you already look handsome."
The sound of Lucas and Amelia talking reached Orval's ears. He looked over lazily, and the next second his face darkened.
He wasn't as good-looking as Lucas to begin with, and seeing Lucas's current appearance, he felt hateful.
He could almost imagine that if he and Lucas appeared in the same frame, his looks would definitely be defeated by Lucas. Lucas would definitely make him look like an ordinary person by comparison.
