Chapter 26 Threatened?
Chapter 26 Threatened?
Hmm?
Eve looked down at Sophie, who was lying on her shoulder like a little girl, grinning foolishly. She suddenly felt a bit of a headache coming on.
It seemed she had gained herself a troublesome burden.
But...
She pinched Sophie's little face again.
This burden seemed quite likable.
"Fine!"
After a moment of silence, her red lips parted slightly as she agreed softly.
"You can follow me, but shouldn't you go back to your own seat now?"
"No, I don't want to. Eve smells nice and feels soft. Hugging you is even more comfortable than hugging my big bear. I want to keep hugging you."
Big bear?
Her?
Eve looked down at Sophie, who was clinging to her and refusing to leave, thinking about the big bear she mentioned.
It must be that stuffed animal bigger than Sophie herself that she had to hug every night when sleeping, right?
Her expression darkened for a moment. Looks like she needed to lose some weight. She reached out and picked up Sophie, who was hanging on her like a koala, and put her back in her own seat.
Before she could return to her own seat, the phone on the table started vibrating frantically.
Mason's name was flashing on the screen.
Why would that kid be calling her so late?
"Speak!"
As soon as the call connected, Eve heard the chaotic noise from the other end, mixed with several curses.
Every curse word in the book was flying around.
Her brows furrowed involuntarily. Was Mason hanging out with people like this every day?
"You're Eve, right?" A strange voice came from the other end, clearly not Mason.
"Who are you?"
She narrowed her eyes. It seemed someone was getting restless again.
"Who I am doesn't matter. You have ten minutes to get to the school's esports room. Otherwise, I can't guarantee Mason will be able to touch a game tomorrow."
A threat. A blatant threat.
After hanging up, Eve couldn't help but smile.
Today really was quite the day.
First, someone unafraid of death dared to challenge her and make a bet with her.
Now an even bolder one came along, actually threatening her?
Let her think - what happened to the last person who threatened her?
They should have been devoured by sharks in the open sea by now, leaving no trace, right?
"Eve, did something happen to Mason?" At this moment, Sophie couldn't be bothered with acting cute anymore. She stood up straight, looking nervously at Eve.
"It's nothing. You go back first. I'll handle a small matter."
On this point, Eve really wasn't exaggerating.
Dealing with a bunch of wet-behind-the-ears high school students was a small matter for anyone.
Sophie wanted to argue, but facing the disapproval in Eve's eyes, she could only reluctantly close her mouth and nod obediently to show she could go back.
Eve patted Sophie's head with satisfaction, then turned and left the bar.
She headed straight for the school's esports room.
From far away, she could see the esports room brightly lit.
Noisy sounds kept coming from inside.
"Mason, a noob like you wants to be captain of our Esports Bootcamp?"
"Marcus Stone, you're the fucking noob. If you hadn't cheated, you think I would've lost?"
Mason, pinned down in his chair and unable to move, felt frustrated.
Originally, he had become captain of the Esports Bootcamp by winning a bet.
Knowing that people below him were dissatisfied, he had been training like crazy recently.
He practiced the techniques Eve taught him over and over again.
At the same time, he led the team members through several matches of varying importance, all with good results.
But today, for some reason, Marcus suddenly started making trouble.
He even betrayed him at a critical moment during his match with someone else, causing him to lose.
Afterward, Marcus kept shouting that he wasn't fit to be captain, contacted several die-hard fans of the former captain, and deleted his account.
Now, he had even tied him up and threatened his sister.
"Cheated?"
Marcus laughed sinisterly a few times and reached out to pat Mason's face. "Today I'll teach you a good lesson about what 'all's fair in war' means. Don't be upset, kid. I heard your techniques were all learned from that fat pig of a sister of yours. Today I'll show you how I teach your sister a lesson."
"Shut your mouth! You're the fucking fat pig! You're the one dumb as a pig!" Mason got angry.
Insulting him was fine. Humiliating him was his own fault for being less skilled and capable.
But insulting his sister? That was absolutely not okay.
Eve was his weak spot. Anyone who dared touch it, he'd fight to the death.
Bang!
As the door to the esports room was kicked open, Eve glared darkly at Mason pinned in the chair.
"Shut up!"
Mason froze, a flash of hurt crossing his young face.
Sister was angry.
It must be because he was too much of a noob and she was disappointed.
Eve's next words brought Mason back to his senses, his eyes brightening as he looked at Eve: "If I hear you cursing one more time, I'll throw you in the pool to wash you clean."
It wasn't disgust or disappointment. She was disciplining him because he was cursing?
"Yes, sister, don't worry. I promise I won't do it again."
He said it with conviction, though the effect might have been better if you ignored his current disheveled state.
Eve nodded, then looked up coldly at Marcus, who was sitting brazenly in the center position.
"I'm here. So what do you plan to do?"
She leaned lazily against the wall by the door, her posture relaxed, as if she hadn't been threatened to come here but was on vacation instead.
Her lazy attitude left Marcus momentarily stunned.
This fat woman either really had skills or was just pretending.
His gaze fell on Eve's plump hands, and he smiled mockingly.
He was really overthinking it.
With hands like those, how could she possibly know how to use a keyboard?
"I heard this noob's techniques were taught by you?"
Eve nodded.
"Good." Marcus grinned wickedly. This Eve really had guts to actually admit it?
"Let me be straight with you. I despise his skill level, so let's have a match. If you win, you can take him away, and from now on I'll be Mason's most loyal dog."
Hmm!
Eve nodded, her sharp gaze sweeping over Marcus's burly build with satisfaction.
If someone like this really became Mason's dog, he could provide protection when necessary.
"Do you know how to fight?"
What?
Marcus was confused. They were talking about esports games - how did it suddenly turn to fighting?
However, facing Eve's eyes that seemed to see through people's hearts, he found himself answering as if possessed.
"Yes, I learned some kickboxing. A noob like Mason? I could take on five of him, no problem."
Wait, why did I answer her question?
Marcus, whose reaction was a beat slow, glared at Eve in dissatisfaction. "Stop wasting my time. Are you going to compete or not?"
