Chapter 98 : Don’t Mind The Trouble

Chapter 98 : Don’t Mind The Trouble
From behind the folding screen, Allison watched curiously through the carved patterns in the wood.

Nova pointed outside, panic written all over her face. She tried to mouth words to Allison, but the more anxious she became, the more her tongue tangled. In the end, not a single useful word came out.

By then, the people outside had already come in.

Nova quickly turned her back and raised a hand to shield her face, as if she were terrified of being recognized.

And Allison, peering through the screen, finally saw who it was. It was Ronan.

No wonder Nova was so shocked.

To avoid trouble, Allison had always treated patients without showing her face. That was the reason for the folding screen.

At that moment, Ronan had no idea that the person behind it was someone he knew.

Leaning on his cane, Ronan frowned. “This shop is too small. We should go to a proper hospital.”

Standing beside him were an elegant, well-dressed middle-aged woman and a beautiful young girl with her pale face, filled with pain.

The girl was dressed in expensive clothes. She clutched her wrist, her face drained of color from the pain.

It was more than she could bear. She sat down on a stool and clenched her teeth. “No, it hurts too much. I can’t wait any longer.”

Ronan had no choice. His expression darkened as he spoke to Nova’s back. “Can you treat a sprain?”

Nova glanced nervously toward Allison, unsure whether she should turn them away.

Allison gave her a slight nod.

Nova answered immediately. “Yes, we can treat that.”

Ronan gave her a strange look. He had never seen a shop assistant act so nervously.

Just then, his phone rang. He glanced at the screen and said to the girl, “I’ll take this call outside. Go ahead and get treated.”

With that, Ronan stepped out of the shop.

The elegant woman muttered under her breath, “Honestly... What kind of call could be that urgent? He doesn’t care about you at all.”

But the girl was too focused on the pain to answer.

Nova quickly guided her behind the folding screen.

Allison’s calm voice came from the other side. “Put your hand on the table.”

As soon as she spoke, a pair of hands extended through the fan-shaped opening.

They were slender and delicate hands. The wrists were so thin they looked fragile, as if they might break with the slightest pressure. Strangely, the hands were covered in smooth white lace gloves, concealing every inch of skin, all the way up the forearms.

The elegant woman frowned. The place felt strange as minutes passed by. Both the doctor and the assistant were acting oddly.

Before she could say anything, Allison’s fingers were already on the girl’s arm. With a smooth turn, the joint slipped back into place.

The girl blinked. The pain was gone.

She moved her wrist and let out a breath of relief. “Mom, I’m fine now.”

Allison’s gentle voice sounded from behind the screen. “This isn’t the first time your joint has dislocated, is it?”

The girl replied, “I dislocated it once when I was a child. After that, it’s happened quite often.”

Allison said, “If you don’t mind the trouble, I can prepare some medicinal patches for you. They’ll help prevent it from dislocating again.”

The girl glanced outside at Ronan, who was still on his call. Seeing no rush to leave, she replied casually, “Sure, go ahead.”

Behind the folding screen, Allison slowly stood up to prepare the medicine. Outside, the noblewoman leaned closer to the girl and whispered, “Doesn’t it seem like Ronan isn’t that interested in you? Could it be… that he’s seeing someone else?”

The girl swallowed hard, and her eyes widened in shock.

Nearby, Nova tiptoed behind the screen, barely containing her excitement as she shot Allison a look that screamed gossip.

Allison remained unaffected. She glanced briefly at the girl through the carved opening in the screen.

The girl’s expression was bleak. She was clearly upset.

It didn't take Allison long to guess who the girl was. She was most likely the marriage candidate Jackson had arranged for Ronan.

It was likely that Ronan had come to this blind date without telling Sherrie.

Allison wasn't surprised at all. This outcome had been inevitable from the beginning.

The Lopez family had never intended to marry Sherrie. It was only because the Rogers family clung on so desperately that Sherrie was led to believe she might one day become a Lopez bride.

In reality, to the Lopez family, Sherrie was nothing more than a convenient extra. Someone who could be discarded the moment she was no longer useful. In the end, there wasn’t much difference between her and Allison.

After all, a man who can betray one heart is bound to betray another.

Allison finished preparing the medicine. She explained how to use it from behind the screen, then had Nova take the girl to pay.

Just as they were about to leave, Ronan came back.

He wasn't in a wheelchair today. He leaned on a pair of crutches, still recovering from his injury. Every step he took was clearly painful.

Nova helped the girl apply the medicinal patch. A sharp, minty scent spread through the air, making the girl wrinkle her nose in disdain.

“Ugh. It’s so ugly. I’m tearing this thing off the moment we leave,” she mumbled to herself.

Seeing that she had stopped complaining about the pain, Ronan glanced over and said coldly, “It’s late. I’ll drive you back.”

Allison turned away, listening as their footsteps faded into the distance.

Nova peeked outside and waited until their car disappeared from sight. Then she practically bounced back to Allison’s side, barely able to hide her excitement. “Ms. Rogers, did you hear that? Ronan is cheating again. Sherrie’s going to lose her temper when she finds out. Serves her right. Karma really does come around.”

Allison let out a soft laugh. Karma? Over a man like Ronan? What a joke.

However, Nova wasn’t finished causing trouble. “Ms. Rogers, should I go tell Sherrie? Let them tear into each other like fighting dogs.”

Allison replied lazily, “Getting involved in their mess would only dirty my hands. Don’t worry. No secret stays buried forever. Sherrie will find out sooner or later.”
