Chapter 287 : Allison Was Trapped

Chapter 287 : Allison Was Trapped
The SAT was an event that always attracted significant attention from parents and the press. Allison figured that if someone had reported her, the news had probably already reached both groups.

Whether she had cheated or not, the moment she walked out, she would be surrounded and questioned.

She put on a face mask, lowered her head, and blended into the crowd, trying to slip away unnoticed.

Jareth had just stepped out of the car. He was holding a bouquet. With his height, he could easily see over the heads of the students pouring out through the school gate.

He had expected Allison to come out bouncing with excitement and with a cheerful smile on her face. What he hadn't expected was to see her sneaking around like a thief.

Jareth briefly stopped. Then he tossed the bouquet into the arms of a grinning Oliver, turned back to the car, opened the door, and pulled out a black umbrella.

Oliver barely had time to react before he saw Jareth stride straight into the crowd.

Then, as if he had known exactly where to look, Jareth saw someone in the sea of students, walked straight toward her, and stopped to open the umbrella.

The sunlight above Allison suddenly disappeared. Her heart skipped a beat, and for a moment, she thought someone had grabbed her.

But when she looked up and saw Jareth's face, the panic in her eyes vanished.

Jareth noticed the brief flash of fear in her eyes. His expression noticeably darkened. He knew something had definitely happened.

He held the umbrella over her and said, "Come with me."

Allison couldn't see the road ahead. She slipped her arm through his, trusting him completely as he guided her toward the car.

Jareth remained outside to fold the umbrella. Several camera flashes went off as photographers hurried to take pictures.

Many media outlets and online influencers had gathered outside, hoping to ride the wave of SAT coverage. A man like Jareth, handsome, well-dressed, and carrying a bouquet, was just as attention-grabbing as the first top-scoring student to walk out. Naturally, cameras were pointed in his direction.

Some people even started guessing who he was there to pick up. Could it be a wealthy heiress who had just finished the SAT?

But Jareth stood firmly in front of the car door, blocking everyone's view of the interior. No one could get a clear shot of the passenger inside the car.

He briefly glanced at Oliver. Oliver reacted immediately, covered a camera lens with his hand, and pulled the person aside, warning them to delete the photos.

Jareth got into the car and handed Allison a bottle of water.

After she took a few sips, Jareth asked, "What happened?"

Allison then told him about the investigation that happened during the exam.

Jareth's expression darkened as he silently blamed himself.

Something like that had happened, yet he hadn't known a thing about it.

Allison quickly said, "I was really worried you'd get involved. If you had shown up, it would've been impossible for me to clear my name."

People would have assumed she had someone powerful backing her.

Jareth's eyes darkened like ink. He might not have any authority over the school, but there were still people he could deal with.

When it came to Allison's exams, he cared even more than she did.

He had been worried she might eat something that would upset her stomach, so every meal prepared for her had been checked over and over again.

By the afternoon session, even more media reporters had gathered outside.

Jareth's car remained parked in the same spot, barely moving.

Meanwhile, Allison's photo had already been posted online.

The angry parents weren't satisfied with the lack of an official statement regarding the alleged cheating. Suspecting a cover-up, they tried to use public pressure to force a response.

When Jareth saw the video falsely accusing Allison, his expression turned grim.

Oliver asked, "Do you want me to have the PR team take down the trending topic?"

Jareth remembered what Allison had said. She didn't want him getting involved.

"Leave it."

Let it burn.

At the same time, the inspection team also saw the video. They were furious.

"These netizens are treating this like some kind of spectacle. Do they think we're a bunch of clowns?"

"If this continues, it won't just affect Allison's future. It's also a direct insult to the integrity of the SAT."

"Get the legal team on this. Start collecting evidence and make a few of them issue public apologies. We have complete surveillance footage from her entire exam session. There has to be a way to stop these rumors from spreading."

But any clarification would have to wait until after the SAT.

At most, it would only take a day.

That afternoon, Allison finished her math exam. She didn't have the courage to submit her paper before time was up.

Leaving before everyone else would only make her stand out even more.

She would be far too easy to target. So she waited for the final bell before blending into the crowd and leaving with everyone else.

The math exam had been brutally difficult. Students streamed out of the testing rooms looking completely drained.

Some were crying their eyes out. Others wore expressions of utter defeat. The scene looked like the aftermath of a battlefield.

Allison could feel eyes on her. Instinctively, she quickened her pace.

But just then, a hand suddenly covered her mouth from behind and yanked her backward.

It was definitely a man. He was strong. As Allison was dragged away, the only thing she managed to grab was the collar of his shirt.

There were too many students and too much chaos around them. Even if someone noticed her being dragged away, they would probably assume it was just a group of students fooling around.

On top of that, Allison noticed people deliberately helping to cover for him.

Before she could react, she had already been dragged into the men's restroom.

The area was nearly deserted. Since it had been cleared out for the exams, there weren't many students around.

With a loud bang, the bathroom door slammed shut and locked from the inside.

Allison was trapped.

She had been dragged into the boys' restroom by three students, two boys and one girl. Like her, they were all taking the SAT.
