Chapter 77 Obtaining Concrete Evidence
Soren had previously attended a live performance of "Voice of Heaven" and became Isabella's fan from the very start.
Isabella's livestreamed countdown to death across all platforms, along with her many good deeds and encouragement to all patients suffering from the same illness - beautiful yet strong, yet so pitiful - all of this filled him with admiration.
His insistence on releasing Lika's live recording actually had nothing to do with Isabella personally. It was simply because he got silenced and censored while arguing with haters online, and was wrongly accused and felt wronged.
But when he saw Amelia at this moment.
He was shocked.
Isabella's situation had been making huge waves, and her entanglement with William was the same, so there was definitely one person who couldn't be left out of this - William's wife, Amelia.
That pathetic woman who, for the sake of wealth, turned a blind eye to her husband fooling around with other women all the time, swallowing her pride - that Amelia!
"This is completely different from what they say online!" Soren's voice was unusually loud, his words full of disbelief.
He had been to both live performances. If it was just one song, one stage, it might be coincidence, but with such consistent performance, and he could even tell that Lika was still handling it with ease - this showed that she had extremely high musical talent.
Soren kept being shocked.
"I told you before, Isabella is no good person for getting involved in someone else's marriage," Mia said from the side with her hands on her hips. "You told me to keep things separate, saying you just wanted to fight back against those netizens. Now you understand, right?"
"Let me tell you, lowering the audio quality was done by Isabella's people, and she's been using William's name all along - that's Amelia's current husband, and they're not even divorced yet."
"Otherwise, think about it - Jeffrey is the CEO of the Adams Group, and the Adams Group is one of the investors in 'Voice of Heaven.' Who else would dare to suppress Lika, the singer that the Adams Group is promoting?"
Soren still looked confused: "But why would she do this? Does she know Lika's real identity?"
Amelia shook her head: "Apart from Jeffrey, only the people in this room know."
Mia chimed in: "Even the makeup artist has never seen Lika's face."
"Then why would she..." Soren still didn't understand.
"Isn't it obvious?" Mia said while leading Amelia inside. "Isabella just can't stand seeing others do better than her. You're her fan, so you can't see it clearly."
Soren was still in shock. Amelia didn't say much more. From what Mia just said, it was clear that Soren had really liked Isabella before.
When the image of someone you like gets turned upside down, you need time to process it.
Amelia followed Mia inside.
This building complex was a popular new neighborhood in recent years, with great surrounding facilities. Most people who bought here were middle to upper class, like employees from big internet companies - the kind who held core technical skills or connections and got stock options.
The interior decoration was minimalist style. It looked like the owner was a cool, aloof science guy, which didn't really match Soren.
Thinking this, Amelia glanced at Soren.
Soren had just been in shock, but now he came to his senses. Seeing Amelia's look, he immediately said: "This is my brother's place. My brother is the one recovering the data."
As he spoke, Mia had already brought Amelia to a door.
Mia knocked twice lightly.
"Come in." A male voice came through, and only then did they open the door and enter.
The room continued the minimalist style from outside, just with a lot more electronic equipment.
Mia gave Amelia a look, then pulled her aside, letting Soren go in first before they followed.
Bad temper, maybe?
Or really hates being disturbed.
"Is the data recovered? I brought someone," Soren said without much concern, walking right over.
After he asked, Amelia felt Mia pull her, and the two of them walked over together.
"Almost done." The man with black-framed glasses said.
Amelia watched the progress bar complete. The black-framed glasses guy turned around and said: "It's ready. Take a look at what you need to find and what else needs to be done."
He didn't look at anyone else, just moved aside to let others check.
"Me?" Mia pointed at herself. After all, this was Cordelia's phone - better not let others go through the content randomly.
"Sure." Soren said, then stepped aside to talk with the black-framed glasses guy.
Amelia stood guard beside Mia, watching her search for the recorded content.
The room was very quiet, with only the sound of Mia clicking the mouse in her ears.
"Yeah, that's her. She's Amelia, William's wife, and also Lika..." Soren whispered to the black-framed glasses guy.
The voice was very low, but Amelia still heard it.
She felt a glance sweep over her, then withdraw.
Just then.
"Found it!" Mia said happily, her voice breaking the silence.
"Really? Let me see if we can use it!" Soren quickly came over, and the two of them clicked to play the video.
"Looks like Cordelia had quite a few phones, haha." As they watched, Mia said, because it was obvious that Cordelia used one phone for livestreaming and another phone to record.
No wonder Cordelia was so smooth at stealing phones - probably similar things happened a lot in the industry.
"Not bad. Although it's not the best equipment, at least it's much better than the stuff online," Soren nodded.
"Amelia, what do you think?" Mia asked.
Amelia had been watching all along, and now smiled and nodded.
"With this video, let's see what those haters online can say about me!" Soren said bitterly.
"Will this really work?" Just then, a voice came - it was the black-framed glasses guy. "Maybe it won't achieve what you said."
"The live performance was really good!" Soren said loudly.
Mia didn't speak, just looked at Amelia.
Amelia was thinking.
She reached out and scrolled back and forth, then said: "We can use it."
The black-framed glasses guy frowned, looking at her in disagreement.
Amelia knew what he meant. Recorded on a phone, it would never be as good as being there live. And since he knew and understood Soren, he must have already hyped up the live performance to the skies.
Releasing this video would be somewhat better, but if it wasn't as good as Soren said, it would still easily create a gap.
"We just need to release it at the right time to achieve the effect," Amelia said.
Then her phone vibrated.
She took out her phone and looked - it was Jeffrey.
"Jeffrey." Amelia answered the call.
"Amelia, I have good news for you." Jeffrey's voice on the other end was excited. "I finally caught Zaid's weakness and got his people cornered. I can kick him out anytime! What day do you want to kick him out? Today? Tomorrow? Or right now?"
Hearing Jeffrey's loud laughter on the phone, a smile appeared on Amelia's face.
Now, this opportunity had come.
