Chapter 38 Do You Want Me to Help You Change Clothes?
Meanwhile.
Mia had already arrived at her friend's company—the one who had livestreamed for her before.
Since her friend hadn't answered the phone, she went straight upstairs to find her.
The other person looked a bit surprised when she saw her.
"Mia, what brings you here?" A girl named Cordelia came out.
"Cordelia, I need to talk to you about something." Mia first glanced at the other people inside, then pulled Cordelia outside.
"What's up? So mysterious." Cordelia asked curiously.
"I sent you a message last night. Why didn't you reply?" Mia asked about this first.
"Don't even get me started on that." Cordelia said helplessly, "All of us staff members working on-site for 'Voice of Heaven' had our phones confiscated yesterday."
"What happened?" Mia immediately had a bad feeling.
The 'Yesterday Once More' stage had been sanctioned.
And it happened at this exact time.
And it involved staff members working on-site for 'Voice of Heaven.'
"Actually, I'm not really sure either." Cordelia said, "They still haven't returned our phones. I had to borrow someone's phone outside to call my mom and let her know I'm okay."
"I'm sorry, but the company said it's really serious. At noon when I passed by the conference room, I heard people inside discussing some confidentiality agreement."
Cordelia looked at Mia's pale face and worriedly held her hand.
Cordelia said, "What's wrong? Tell me, maybe I can help you."
...
In the hospital room.
Amelia wrinkled her nose and said, "Since it smells so good, hurry up and bring it to my little table."
As Amelia spoke, she reached out to set up the small table, patted it, and looked at Dash.
Dash raised his eyebrows. Fine, great!
Acting pitiful in front of his sister all day, but when it was just the two of them, she became sharp-tongued.
Still, he liked her this way.
If it weren't for the fact that she liked William, he would have made his move long ago.
Thinking this, Dash sat down on a chair nearby, placed the lunch box on her table, and slowly took out the containers one by one.
"All set, little Amelia, time to eat." He made a "please" gesture.
He was treating her like a kindergarten kid.
Amelia didn't mind and picked up her utensils to start eating.
Today's dishes were pretty good, comparable to the porridge Mia had brought her that day.
She casually asked, "Where did you buy this? I'll remember the place."
Dash just smiled, "You like it?"
"Yes." Amelia nodded.
"Then next time you want some, tell me and I'll go buy it for you." Dash said with a smile.
Amelia suddenly choked.
She coughed pretty hard and bumped into a plate on the table, spilling some soup on her clothes.
Dash patted her back and handed her a tissue.
"Just a couple words and you choke like this." Dash was a bit speechless.
Amelia finally recovered, took the tissue to wipe herself, and said, "Dash, please don't. It's only because Mia went out today, otherwise I wouldn't dare eat what you bring."
Dash lightly tapped Amelia's forehead with his index finger, "You saying that kind of hurts my feelings."
Amelia didn't know what to say, just gave him a helpless look.
Seeing that quite a bit of soup had spilled, Amelia wanted to go to the bathroom to change clothes.
Dash reached out to help her.
Amelia pushed him away twice but couldn't shake him off, so she just let him be.
He couldn't possibly follow her into the bathroom anyway.
The single room was divided into two parts—one part had the hospital bed, and the other part was a balcony separated by a frosted glass door, which maintained privacy while letting in sunlight.
The bathroom was on the balcony.
Amelia walked into the bathroom, and Dash waited for her on the balcony.
In the bathroom, Amelia looked at the clothes in her hands, thought for a moment, and finally spoke up.
"Dash, Mia and I have been friends since we were kids, we're very close. You're her brother, and I see you as my brother too."
Only with the bathroom door between them did Amelia dare to say it.
"So, those joking things Mia said about compensation and all that, don't take them seriously."
On the other side of the door, Dash stood outside, the smile on his face gradually disappearing.
The midday sunlight fell at his feet, and his eyes held a deep, silent darkness.
He was silent for about a second.
Then he said casually, "Got it. Mia's always been like that, hasn't she? Always coming up with random ideas."
Inside the bathroom, Amelia heard that Dash's voice sounded normal, and she breathed a sigh of relief.
She was really afraid Dash would take it seriously.
Because all along, she had only seen him as Mia's brother, nothing more.
Recently, Mia had been finding all sorts of opportunities to set them up. Although she had mentioned it to Mia many times, Mia still did as she pleased.
It was good to clear things up today.
To avoid awkwardness later.
Thinking this, Amelia quickly changed her clothes.
"Haha, from your voice, did Mia scare you?" On the other side of the door, Dash's voice came through, "Can you walk on your own? Can you change clothes by yourself? Want me to call someone for you?"
Hearing Dash's teasing tone, Amelia completely relaxed.
Still that annoying tone—it meant everything was fine.
So she said irritably, "I can change, don't need your concern!"
Amelia quickly changed her clothes. Holding the dirty clothes in one hand, she opened the bathroom door and glared at Dash, who was standing outside smiling at her.
Still that carefree look. He reached out his hand, "Please hold on tight."
Amelia rolled her eyes and placed her hand on his to steady herself. The two walked toward the frosted glass door.
Through the frosted glass door, she seemed to vaguely see someone standing at the hospital room door.
But she couldn't see clearly.
The two opened the balcony door and came out.
A draft blew through, and Amelia shivered.
She looked at the open hospital room door. Perhaps because of the wind, it was still gently swaying.
"Dash, was the room door open just now?" Amelia asked.
"Don't remember." Dash didn't pay much attention either.
He walked right over and closed the hospital room door.
Amelia nodded and didn't think much of it. Maybe she saw wrong, or perhaps someone just passed by outside. This was a hospital—people coming and going was normal.
Outside the room, William walked to the corner with a tense face.
Leaning against the wall at the corner, his lips were pressed tightly together.
The playful voices of the two people on the balcony still echoed in his ears. Through the frosted glass door, he could vaguely see two people close together.
Was this another one of her schemes?
Deliberately setting it up for him to see her with someone else, trying to make him jealous?
Something had been off from the moment he went to the inpatient department front desk to inquire about Amelia's room.
They said it would take some time to look up Amelia's room—had they already gotten word by then?
Deliberately waiting for him to come upstairs, then putting on a show for him.
William closed his eyes, his fists clenched so tight his knuckles turned white.
