Chapter 92: Amelia Says: Don't Make Me Hate You!

Chapter 92: Amelia Says: Don't Make Me Hate You!

William kept talking like this, and it had already scared Briar!

Briar was already crying, but William didn't stop the car.

"Stop the car!" Amelia snapped.

But William still didn't stop.

"William!"

Eventually, Amelia held Briar in her arms, gently patting her back to comfort her.

"William, Briar has a congenital heart condition." Amelia panicked, her eyes turning red. "Are you trying to kill her!"

She had already lost two children, and she absolutely couldn't let anything happen to Briar.

Hearing this, William glanced at the rearview mirror and saw that Briar was indeed crying.

His lips pressed together slightly as William pulled over to the side, gradually slowing down the car and stopping by the roadside.

Looking at Amelia's red eyes in the rearview mirror, William gripped the steering wheel tightly.

Without another word, Amelia got out of the car carrying Briar.

She regretted it. She shouldn't have let William threaten her into getting in his car with Briar.

Otherwise, Briar wouldn't have been scared to tears.

"Amelia!" William called her name from behind.

But Amelia completely ignored him, hailing a taxi and heading straight to Evergreen Hospital.

William didn't give up either, following far behind.

Amelia looked at the Maybach in the rearview mirror, feeling annoyed.

Angry at William, and angry at herself.

Amelia looked at Briar in her arms with concern, gently patting her back.

"Briar, how do you feel now? Are you uncomfortable anywhere?" Amelia asked worriedly.

Briar wiped away the tears from the corners of her eyes.

"Amelia, I'm fine." Briar shook her head.

"If you feel uncomfortable, you must tell me." Amelia said softly.

Briar nodded. She curled up in Amelia's arms, staying quiet with her head down.

Briar was just reminded of the past.

Although children's memories don't last long, she still remembered when her biological parents abandoned her, they had also fought like this.

But this time was different from before—Amelia was protecting her.

Curling up in Amelia's arms made her feel safe.

The car drove all the way to Evergreen Hospital.

Dash had been waiting there early.

Seeing Amelia and Briar pay and get out of the car, he immediately went up to them.

Then, he saw William, who had parked his car and was getting out.

Seeing William approach, Amelia first let Briar go inside with Dash, then faced William alone.

"Amelia." William came over quickly, his brows furrowed.

"I didn't know Briar's condition was a congenital heart disease," he said.

Amelia looked at William in front of her.

"Whether Briar is sick or not, you shouldn't yell and shout in front of a child," Amelia said.

William didn't argue back. The two looked at each other.

Since their last meeting, they had been in this state.

This made William feel helpless.

The wind blew gently. Finally, William spoke first: "What's really going on between you and Jeffrey?"

Amelia closed her eyes wearily.

"There's nothing between him and me," she said. "I thought you had already seen the statement online."

Amelia knew very well that Rhys would report all these things to him.

So why did he need to come and give her trouble?

Amelia believed her attitude had been clear enough.

Whether it was not answering calls or returning messages, or her rejection at the Brown Villa before.

Over there, Briar still refused to leave, standing in the corner with Dash and looking this way.

Amelia didn't want to argue with William either, so she turned to leave.

"Wait." William reached out and grabbed Amelia's hand. "I still have things I want to ask you."

Amelia shook off his hand.

"William, I told you, today I brought Briar here for a checkup. Briar needs surgery," Amelia said coldly.

But William stubbornly blocked her way.

Briar was still watching from over there.

Amelia felt a headache coming on.

"In a couple of days, I'll go to Felicity's wine tasting. You can ask me whatever you want then, and I'll explain everything clearly."

Amelia looked into his eyes: "William, don't make me hate you."

With that, Amelia walked around William and headed toward Briar and Dash in the corner.

William wanted to say something, but Amelia's words kept echoing in his mind.

He turned around and watched her leave holding Briar's hand, his mood inexplicable.

When did they become like this?

Amelia knew William was watching her the whole time.

Whether it was Briar frequently looking back, or his piercing gaze, everything reminded her of his presence.

So be it.

It won't be much longer.

Once they got the divorce certificate, they would have nothing to do with each other anymore.

Dash looked at the two people beside him, feeling somewhat complicated himself.

He had seen the scandal between her and Jeffrey.

He knew she had no feelings for Jeffrey and had never done anything to cause misunderstandings.

But as a man, he roughly understood Jeffrey's intentions.

Honestly.

He was a bit jealous.

However...

He still hoped she would be happy.

Thinking this, Dash looked at Briar softly leaning on Amelia's shoulder and said: "Briar, come with me for the examination later. If you feel uncomfortable anywhere, tell me."

Briar turned around, her big round eyes looking at Dash.

"Thank you," Briar said.

Then came a series of examinations.

All the results would come out later, so Amelia took Briar home first.

All the way home, cooking, eating dinner.

Briar and Amelia sat on the sofa together watching TV.

Cartoons were playing on the TV.

Briar really liked them.

As night fell, Amelia drove Briar back. Just before getting out of the car, Briar looked at her hesitantly.

Amelia knew Briar had something to say.

"What's wrong?" Amelia parked the car and looked at Briar seriously.

"Amelia," Briar said softly. "What was that about today with that man? He... seemed to know you."

Amelia didn't answer right away, just looked at Briar's big eyes.

Outside the car window, a strong wind blew, making the leaves rustle.

Under the dim streetlights, pedestrians walked by slowly, their laughter reaching inside the car, bringing an unreal feeling.

Amelia was thinking about whether or not to tell Briar the truth.

After hesitating for a while, Amelia decided to be honest.

After all, Briar would be living with her from now on and would hear about these things anyway, and William might also go looking for Briar again.

Briar was different from other children—she was a bit more mature in her thinking and could understand many things.

Thinking this, Amelia held Briar's hand and said: "Briar, he's my husband."

Seeing Briar's somewhat confused look, Amelia added: "But in 9 days, we'll be completely separated, so Briar, you don't need to pay attention to him."

Thinking further, Amelia touched Briar's head: "Sometimes in life you meet the wrong people. He's that mistake in my life."

"But I'm working hard to fix it now. He's not important. From now on, we'll be fine."
