Chapter 59: Her Kiss, Her Warmth
William walked over to where he kept his safe.
He opened the box and took out the tanzanite inside.
Under the light, the tanzanite glowed brilliantly.
He thought for a moment, took a photo of it, then went back to Amelia's chat window.
[The tanzanite you liked.]
Then he thought again and deleted it.
Back then, she had wanted to buy this tanzanite because if she got pregnant in March, the due date would be late December, and this stone could become a birthday gift for the child.
But he suddenly remembered—they didn't have a child.
Everything from that night seemed to appear before his eyes once again.
Her smile, her kiss, the mole on her chest, the warmth of her body, and the scenes of her crying, pushing him away, saying "no more."
William put down his phone, sat on the sofa, and looked up at the pale ceiling.
What was she doing now?
The online voices had blown up so much—she must have seen it, right?
Why hadn't she come to find him yet?
Had she really become more mature and learned to be quiet, waiting silently for these six months to pass, or... was this another way of throwing a tantrum?
William looked at his phone, his lips pressed tight.
He didn't know how much time had passed.
Finally, he picked up his phone and deleted the photo of the tanzanite.
……
Meanwhile, at the hospital.
Amelia had returned to her ward.
After a busy night, she finally felt a bit more relaxed.
Jeffrey had gone to handle company matters. Before leaving, he had left Amelia with these words—"I'm going to kick Zaid out right now. At the fastest, it'll be done by the second live broadcast of 'Voice of Heaven,' or at the latest, before the third one. Either way, his days at the Adams Group are numbered!"
Amelia didn't act modest and expressed her support for Jeffrey.
They were allies now. She had seen through Oliver's cutthroat tactics, so both she and Jeffrey knew clearly—there was only winning and losing, nothing in between.
After Jeffrey left, Mia peeked in and walked in carrying a food container.
"Amelia, coming back so late, you must be hungry." Mia said with a smile, then handed over the food container. "These are all easy-to-digest foods, perfect for a late-night snack."
As Mia spoke, she began setting things out for Amelia.
Amelia watched Mia's attentive manner and sighed helplessly in her heart.
She could blame anyone for her miscarriage, but not Mia. If Mia hadn't arranged for blood donors in advance that day, she might have even lost her life from blood loss. But Mia had been blaming herself ever since.
She had tried many ways to help, but nothing worked.
So she could only let Mia do these things, hoping it would make Mia feel a bit better.
"You're really too thin now, it breaks my heart to see. You need to eat more and get your strength back." Mia said, looking at Amelia with concern.
Amelia nodded and smiled as she tasted the food.
It was delicious.
"By the way Mia, where exactly do you guys get all this food for me?" Amelia had been curious for a while. "Last time I asked Dash and he didn't say either. I don't know if he forgot or what."
Mia looked at her with a smile. "Does it taste good?"
Amelia nodded, not holding back her praise. "Mia, we've grown up together and been to many restaurants together, but these past few times what you've brought me has been super delicious. Those restaurants can't even compare."
"As long as it tastes good." Mia said slyly, but didn't explain clearly.
Amelia narrowed her eyes at Mia and reached out to poke her forehead.
"Something's fishy." Amelia said. "You guys didn't buy this from outside, right? Tell me the truth—did your family hire a new chef? Is this the chef's specialty home cooking?"
Mia covered her forehead and glared at Amelia. She pouted and mumbled, "Sort of. Anyway, if you want to eat, I'll just have him make it."
"Okay." Amelia didn't probe further.
The two talked for a long time.
Amelia watched Mia still acting hesitant and let out a long sigh.
After thinking, Amelia said, "Mia, can I ask you to help me with something?"
Mia immediately nodded. "Tell me."
"In a few days, it'll be the second live broadcast of 'Voice of Heaven.'" Amelia looked at Mia and said, "Do you have time to come watch me perform?"
"Of course I have time!" Mia immediately nodded. Even if she didn't, she would swap shifts with someone to make time. She said, "I've been dying to go to the live show!"
"How is this even a favor!" Mia said, dissatisfied.
Amelia reached out and poked Mia's cheek.
"Of course it's a favor." Amelia said with a smile. "Other people don't know I'm Amelia, but you do. That's a different feeling, a very different meaning."
"Also," Amelia continued, "I'll still need your help with the audio and video quality issue."
Amelia watched Mia's eager expression. She knew she needed to give her an anchor point.
She didn't want Mia to keep feeling guilty and being so careful all the time.
They were equals.
No one owed anyone anything.
So, this matter of the live broadcast's audio and video quality could serve as that anchor.
Once Mia solved this, perhaps the guilt in her heart would disappear, and they could be like before again.
Besides, Mia had already gotten Cordelia's phone. As long as they found a data recovery expert, everything would be solved.
"If you get more involved, maybe that issue will be resolved?" Amelia said with a smile.
"You're right!" Mia nodded vigorously, looking very motivated.
With that, Amelia felt a bit more at ease.
Later, she'd just have Jeffrey get Mia a ticket to watch from the audience.
Time flew by quickly, with all parties preparing.
These days, Amelia had been constantly communicating with Cecil, the judge and mentor of her team. Although their various ideas sometimes differed, they always managed to spark new creative inspiration through their discussions.
This gave Amelia a feeling of having met too late.
Cecil also repeatedly expressed that it would have been great if they had met earlier.
And since her physical condition didn't allow it now, once she recovered, they might be able to collaborate on even better performances.
On the Adams Group side, Jeffrey was also actively fighting against Beck and Zaid, while simultaneously creating Amelia's performance outfit for the second live broadcast of "Voice of Heaven."
It was still stunningly beautiful.
As for Isabella, she had been relatively quiet lately, only promoting how she had fainted from exhaustion and needed rest, and also...
Frequently visiting the Brown Group.
Appearing inseparable from William.
This had made it onto the trending searches several times.
As for Finn, he was still giving William the cold shoulder and completely ignoring him.
Under these circumstances.
Soon, the 13th day of the divorce cooling-off period—the second live broadcast of "Voice of Heaven"—arrived.
