Chapter 188: The Same Emergency Contact, William

Chapter 188: The Same Emergency Contact, William

Isabella thought that meeting Quiana again would just be going through the motions - she didn't even need to find Quiana anymore.

Now that she had already involved Quiana’s name, even if the Adams Group or Quiana confronted her, she could claim that Quiana had acted purely for money.

She could also take the opportunity to insult Amelia.

She would say it was a malicious scheme orchestrated by Amelia and Jeffrey together.

If they accepted money and kept quiet, that would be best. If not, she was not afraid of a future lawsuit.

By then, she would already be William’s wife.

The more Isabella thought about it, the more flawless her plan seemed. Everything was under control.

At the hospital, after Amelia finished her work, she checked the song's copyright registration once again.

She still felt a bit confused.

She could not understand what Isabella was thinking.

This was clearly a strong case.

Although it was not a large-scale infringement, and Isabella could hire skilled lawyers to limit the consequences by stopping the infringement, paying compensation and fines, and issuing a public apology.

But Isabella's reputation would still be severely damaged.

Did Isabella truly believe she was terminally ill and was determined to secure her wedding with William at all costs?

Was she merely trying to buy time?

Amelia remained confused.

But she was certain Isabella had chosen the wrong opponent.

......

Meanwhile, after failing to persuade Isabella, William felt irritated and drove off alone.

As he passed by the psychiatric nursing home they had visited before, he suddenly remembered that when he had brought Isabella to see the doctor, the doctor had mentioned mailing documents to the apartment later.

But he hadn't received them when he left that morning.

Had something gone wrong?

With that thought, he pulled over.

He walked into the nursing home, he asked for the psychiatrist he had met previously, only to learn the doctor was off duty..

He explained the situation to the staff.

“Mailed documents are usually handled by the records department,” the receptionist said. “You can ask them.”

William nodded and left.

After he left, the receptionist lowered her voice and began gossiping with a colleague.

"That person is working in the records department now, right?"

"Exactly. He used to always make mistakes at work. The person training him had a huge fight with the higher-ups, so they transferred him to the records department. I can't believe he's still making mistakes even in the records department. I'm speechless."

"I know, right? I hope that guy who just left can get his business done successfully."

As they were talking about this, Skylar approached and overheard part of the conversation.

“What are you talking about?” she asked.

The receptionist immediately replied, “Skylar, let me tell you—”

At this time, William had reached the records department.

Before long, he saw a man leaning back in a chair.

William frowned slightly.

He walked over and said, "Hello, I'm here to check on a mailed document."

Only then did the man look up. He looked like he hadn't fully woken up yet. He rubbed his eyes and asked, "What is it?"

“There’s a document that was mailed, but I never received it. I’d like to check its status," William answered.

“Alright.” The man adjusted his glasses, logged into the courier tracking system, and asked, “What’s the name?”

“Isabella,” William replied, assuming he meant the patient’s name.

The man began entering the recipient’s name. At that moment, Skylar walked in.

"What's going on?" she asked.

The young man immediately sat up straight and said: "A patient's family member wants to check on the mailing status of a document."

Skylar had already learned about the mailing issue from the receptionist.

She remembered that day when she heard the door wasn't closed, Isabella had gone back and said something to the doctor.

She wasn't clear on the specifics, but it should have been about changing the delivery address.

It seemed William was unaware of that.

"I see," Skylar said. "Check and see what's going on."

"Yes, Dr. Tate." The young man immediately got to work, checked, and then said to William, "It's already been mailed."

"But I didn't receive it," William said, frowning.

“Check the delivery address listed on the tracking record,” Skylar instructed.

"Okay!" The young man immediately looked it up.

He read out the address: “Floral Haven, Isabella.”

"That should be it, no problem." The young man looked at William beside him.

William had been observing Skylar standing nearby the whole time. He felt Skylar's behavior was very strange.

But now, when the young man from the records department read out the address, William's thoughts shifted.

Had he remembered wrong?

Hadn't he given his own home address that day?

How did it get sent to Isabella's place?

"Sir, is there a problem?" the young man asked.

William shook his head.

“Can you print another copy for me?” William requested. He preferred to collect it in person rather than rely on mailing.

"Yes, but we need to verify your personal information first, and authorization," the records department man replied.

William nodded and handed over his passport.

The staff member was about to search the emergency contact field when Skylar quickly intervened.

“It’s faster to review the patient’s form directly,” she said. “Check the emergency contact and see if there's a note about the patient's authorization. If they were able to receive the package, there should be authorization."

The young man nodded, first opened Isabella's medical record, then confirmed the information and checked the authorization.

After verifying the authorization, he returned William’s passport and said, "Please wait a moment, I'll go print it for you."

“Thank you,” William said, pocketing his ID.

Only then did Skylar secretly breathe a sigh of relief.

She'd have to hurry and get Amelia to authorize her to change the emergency contact.

They had always forgotten about this.

Amelia’s emergency contact was still listed as William.

Originally this wasn't a big problem. Amelia was gradually getting better, and it hadn't reached the point of needing to contact the emergency contact, so they hadn't paid attention to it.

Just now when she heard the receptionist chatting at the door, alarm bells went off in her head.

This person in the records department was careless and sloppy. Who knew what kind of trouble he might cause?

He used to work at the front desk and would give people the wrong things.

What if he wanted to check the package and directly searched for William's name, pulling up Amelia's file?

Patient privacy was extremely important.

And based on her understanding of Amelia, Amelia probably wouldn't want William to know she had come to see a psychiatrist.

That would be a major mistake by the hospital.

Good thing she had been watching closely.

Otherwise it would have been a disaster.

The documents had already been printed. The records department staff put everything in an envelope and handed it to William.

"Okay, thank you," William said, then thought for a moment and asked the person to help change the address back to his previous apartment.

Skylar watched from the side the whole time.

She didn't say a word.

Since she wasn't facing the computer screen, it didn't count as seeing patient privacy.

Once everything was completed, William took the file and left.

Skylar then took some things from the records room and came out, pretending she had just happened to be getting something, rather than having any other purpose.

But as soon as she stepped outside, she encountered William again.

"Can we talk?" he asked.
