Chapter 165: Tit for Tat, Only for One Person

Chapter 165: Tit for Tat, Only for One Person

People in the conference room looked at each other.

Then came waves of discussion—

"Who is this guy? Why does he look so arrogant?"

"I heard he's the big shot from a major group in Seraphim. Back when the Brown Group was transforming, they first broke through the technical blockade, then Mr. Brown and... and Amelia went to Seraphim to negotiate cooperation. His company's contract was the first one they got. It was from that point on, using this as a stepping stone, that the Brown Group truly began its transformation."

"So it's his company! I heard his family has huge influence overseas!"

"Exactly. It was because of his contract that many other deals became much easier to negotiate afterward."

"I see..."

Everyone was talking among themselves, while the man just looked at William, his eyes sharp and fierce—the kind of fierceness that comes from truly walking through bloodshed.

Seraphim has a different situation from ours. Guns aren't banned there, so the path to becoming a person in power is bloody all the way.

"Not going to ask me to sit down?" Alvin looked at William with a half-smile. "When you and Amelia came to Seraphim, I treated you both very well."

William narrowed his eyes dangerously, staring coldly back at him.

Between the two men seemed to be an invisible magnetic field, an unspoken confrontation where their gazes met.

The entire conference room was filled with a strange atmosphere.

More people whispered to each other.

"What's going on? What did he just mean? How did they get that contract? Wasn't it through proper channels?"

"It must have been through proper channels. Back then, the Brown Group couldn't compete with his family. How could they sign without his approval? But I heard there was something strange about it."

"What happened?"

"We don't know the details. We only know that after they came back from negotiating the contract, Amelia was in a hospital bed for over a month."

"What? That happened?"

"Yeah, haven't you figured it out yet? Today's chaos is all because Amelia has cut ties with the Brown Group. And back when the Brown Group was transforming, Amelia followed Mr. Brown every step of the way in expanding the business. They were deeply connected."

...

Felicity was the first to react. She walked over with a smile, leading Alvin to the side.

"This way, please." Felicity said with a smile, her expression elegant and bright, her eyes especially sparkling when looking at Alvin.

But Alvin didn't move. He just looked at William.

His meaning was obvious—he wanted William to personally invite him.

Felicity felt a bit awkward, but immediately covered it up and looked over at William.

"William?" Felicity asked questioningly.

When she was in Seraphim, she had heard so much gossip about Alvin, the Brown family, and Amelia, but she never knew exactly what happened.

Even before when she used the Martinez family to pressure Amelia for answers, Amelia didn't say anything. Instead, she played them a bullfighting tune as mockery.

So now she was very anxious.

Thinking this, she secretly turned around, about to go to a corner to call Amelia.

But William stopped her with a look.

"Not giving me face?" Alvin noticed William's move and smiled dangerously. "Don't want to find Amelia?"

Alvin took out his phone.

"No problem, I'll make this call."

He smiled, then looked at Felicity: "Thank you for bringing that wine to Amelia. I really liked that wine, and I was just thinking of asking her what she thought of it."

Although he was smiling at Felicity, she felt a chill run down her spine.

Like being watched by a venomous snake.

However, that was all. Alvin immediately started to dial. But before he could press the button, his hand was already grabbed by another hand.

Alvin looked up and saw William's dark eyes.

"Want to stop me?" Alvin sneered coldly, putting his hand in his pocket.

The next moment, William felt something pressing against his abdomen.

His eyes narrowed slightly. Ignoring the other's resistance, he pushed forward forcefully. The two men faced each other at extremely close range.

"Do you know that this place is different from Seraphim? Guns are banned here." William looked at him and said in a low voice.

But Alvin just smiled, still looking coldly at William.

And he called Amelia.

William reached for Alvin's pocket. Alvin wouldn't let him succeed and dodged backward.

"Hello?" Amelia's voice came through.

Alvin smiled, watching William's unpleasant expression, and said: "Hello, Amelia, it's me. How have you been lately?"

Amelia on the other end of the phone didn't respond.

William walked straight forward, trying to forcibly take the gun. The next moment, Alvin stopped hiding and pulled out the gun, pointing it at William's forehead.

He looked at William with narrowed eyes, smiled mockingly, and continued: "I heard you and William got divorced. I want to congratulate you first—happy divorce."

Amelia still didn't respond.

"And then." Alvin smiled. "I'm at the Brown Group now to talk about that contract from back then. Do you want to come over?"

Throughout this entire process, the two men stared at each other, neither backing down.

The earlier discussion in the conference room had also disappeared. People looked at each other, all very tense.

The conference room was quiet, as if only the two of them remained, along with Amelia on the phone.

About three seconds passed.

Amelia's voice came through: "Okay."

Alvin smiled and looked at William, saying: "I knew you would..."

But before he could finish, the call was already hung up.

Alvin was stunned and instinctively looked at his phone.

Amelia hung up before he finished speaking.

Looking up again, he saw that William had already grabbed his gun.

He instinctively pulled the trigger.

Then a little flower shot out from the barrel, making William slightly stunned.

"Surprise!" He laughed loudly.

It was a toy gun.

The strange and tense atmosphere was instantly disrupted.

William let go of Alvin's hand. He looked at Felicity and Rhys.

"I'm temporarily leaving things here to you two. If it really doesn't work, stall for time. Tell them we'll hold a press conference later."

"Okay, William."

"Yes, Mr. Brown."

Both immediately responded.

William then looked darkly at Alvin: "You come with me."

Seeing that Alvin didn't seem to want to listen to him, he sneered: "I think you don't want that matter to be widely publicized."

But Alvin just shrugged.

"Honestly, I don't care."

Then he glanced at his phone again.

But she might care.

So Alvin followed William out.

Left in the conference room were a bunch of people wanting to gossip, along with Rhys and Felicity.

Phones and other devices around them were still constantly ringing, but everyone's hearts were full of curiosity.

Felicity's eyes narrowed angrily as she coldly swept her gaze over everyone else present.

"Didn't you hear? Get to work!" she said coldly.

Only then did the others quickly lower their heads and get to work.

On the other side.

Amelia put down the phone.

They had just come out from where the new products were hidden.

Amelia's expression wasn't good.

Back in Seraphim, she had lost her first child.

That was a pain she could never forget.

For many years afterward, she never dealt with anything related to Seraphim and would deliberately ignore certain things.

So after the Seraphim affairs matured, she let Felicity, who was studying in Seraphim, handle them.

In the beginning, Amelia personally set up all the frameworks for Seraphim-related affairs.

When did Alvin come to the country?

Now he wanted to see her...

"What's wrong?" York beside her noticed something was off with Amelia and asked.
