Chapter 764: By Your Side
Stella looked sad. "Seb can't handle it. How can anyone bear the loss of their loved one twice?"
"Isn't this just like rubbing salt into the wound?"
"If he can get through this, we won't have to worry in the future. But if he can't..."
Grandma Whitmore didn't finish her sentence. Everyone knew what the consequences would be.
...
Cemetery.
The dark cemetery was eerie and would terrify anyone faint-hearted.
The weather suddenly changed, and it started to drizzle.
Sebastian's mind was filled with thoughts of Isabella. He stumbled out of his car and made his way to Isabella's tombstone.
There were only a few lights in the cemetery, and one of them shone directly on Isabella's grave. Sebastian found her tombstone immediately.
"Isabella, Isabella!"
Sebastian was too anxious and overwhelmed with sorrow. When he saw Isabella's tombstone, his sadness burst forth like a flood. He hurried forward, but the steps were slippery from the rain, and he fell in front of Isabella's grave.
He sat up, leaning against the tombstone, holding onto it as he cried uncontrollably. Soaked to the skin, Sebastian looked miserable as he clung to the tombstone, sobbing, "Isabella, I'm here to be with you."
Sebastian felt an unbearable pain in his chest, making it hard for him to breathe.
How deep can one's sorrow go?
Sebastian cried until his whole body convulsed, his fingertips cold. He felt as if all the blood in his body had turned cold.
"Isabella, come back to life. Please come back. I was wrong; it's all my fault. I was too arrogant! I always thought I could solve everything. I never showed mercy to my enemies. I didn't listen to you."
"It was me who killed you, Isabella."
Sebastian lost control of his emotions. He climbed onto the grave and began digging with his bare hands, desperate to see Isabella one last time, even if it was just her ashes.
The rain poured harder, soaking Sebastian completely and covering him in mud. His hands bled from digging, but he seemed unaware of the pain and kept digging.
He hadn't even seen Isabella one last time; all he could do was cry mournfully in front of her grave.
When Selene and Andrew arrived, they were shocked to see Sebastian frantically digging at the grave.
Andrew wanted to stop him, but Selene held him back. "Let him vent."
Sebastian had been suppressing his grief and longing for over a year. If he didn't let it out now, it would destroy him.
Andrew didn't approach any closer. Watching Sebastian's state was unbearable for him. It was the first time he'd seen Sebastian like this-like a madman, disheveled, with hands covered in mud and blood.
Sebastian remained there in the rain, in front of Isabella's grave-frantic, helpless, desperate, and sorrowful.
Andrew whispered softly, "Isabella, do you see this? Boss came to see you."
Andrew couldn't bear to watch any longer; he turned away and wiped his wet eyes.
Was this still the same Sebastian who had a cleanliness obsession and pride?
Exhausted from digging, Sebastian lay on the grave. He kissed the tombstone and cried hopelessly. He felt as if Isabella were right beside him. Others might be scared, but how could he be? This was Isabella-the woman he loved most.
"Isabella, I'm here. I'm here with you now. You're afraid of the dark; with me here, you don't have to be afraid." Sebastian kept talking, but no one responded. Isabella was gone; no one could answer him anymore.
The rain blurred his vision until everything turned white. He seemed to hear Isabella's voice and saw her lying beside him, smiling at him while gently touching his face and asking softly, "Why are you crying?"
Sebastian hallucinated seeing Isabella and was overjoyed. "Isabella, I miss you so much. They said you died; you didn't die, did you? Isabella, I miss you so much."
He cried as he held her in his arms. She remained as gentle as ever and said with a smile, "How could I die? I'm here. You're talking nonsense again. Your hand is bleeding; how could you be so careless?"
"Isabella..." Sebastian reached out to touch Isabella's face with tenderness in his eyes.
But to Andrew and Selene watching from afar, Sebastian was just lying on the grave talking to himself-crying one moment and laughing the next.
Andrew asked Selene, "Selene, do you believe in ghosts? Do you think Boss really saw Isabella?"
