Chapter 1095: I Have Plans Tonight
Charlotte couldn't bear it any longer and spoke up, "Miss Thornton, Miss Leer might still be sleepy. Why don't we let her sleep a little longer?"
Upon hearing Charlotte's words, Sophia quickly nodded in agreement and let out a yawn to go along with it.
The little girl looked innocent and harmless, even when acting, there was not a single flaw to be found.
A barely perceptible trace of anger flashed across Emma's face, but she quickly regained her composure.
"Looks like Aunt Emma came at the wrong time. If that's the case, Sophia, go to bed," she said.
Sophia immediately felt relieved and without even saying goodbye, she hurriedly closed the door.
As Emma watched the door close, her smile also faded.
She intended to scold Charlotte a bit, telling her not to meddle in her relationship with Sophia.
But then she thought about Charlotte's words just now. Clearly, it was Victor's idea-to have Charlotte keep an eye on her interactions with Sophia.
With this in mind, Emma quickly adjusted her expression and glanced at Charlotte.
"I'll come to keep Sophia company in the following days. I thought she liked cupcakes, so I bought some, but it seems I made a mistake. Charlotte, you've taken care of Sophia for so many years. Do you know what she likes?" she said.
As she spoke, she gave Charlotte a rare smile.
Charlotte lowered her head, feeling dissatisfied with her.
She had taken care of Sophia for so many years, and during all those years, Emma would occasionally come over here as well.
And now she was asking her what the girl liked?!
It was clear that Emma never really cared about Miss Leer!
Emma continued, "I've been neglectful and didn't consider Sophia's feelings. I only imposed my own preferences on her. It's only natural that Sophia doesn't like me. Now I realize my mistake. Could you please give me some advice, Charlotte?"
Emma's tone was sincere as if all the animosity towards Charlotte had never existed.
Naturally, Charlotte wouldn't tell her and simply said, "Miss Leer doesn't seem to have any particular likes. And I only cook for Miss Leer on a regular basis. I don't really know much about her hobbies or preferences."
Emma persisted, "Then what does Sophia like to eat? I can learn to make it too."
Charlotte intentionally mentioned a difficult dish.
Emma subtly furrowed her brows.
Just hearing the name made it sound incredibly troublesome. But that didn't matter. She couldn't cook it herself, but she could buy it!
They made their way downstairs. When Charlotte thought Emma would bid farewell and leave, she saw Emma sit down on the sofa instead.
"Sophia probably won't sleep for long. I'll wait here until she wakes up," she said as she lowered her gaze and took out her phone to message Abigail.
Emma wasn't waiting for Sophia to wake up. She just wanted to see Victor when he returned later.
She waited until evening, but Sophia still hadn't come downstairs.
When it was getting late, she heard Charlotte on the phone with Victor.
After Charlotte hung up the phone, she quickly asked, "What did Victor say? When is he coming back?"
Charlotte replied, "Young Master said he'll be back later tonight and asked me to have dinner with Miss Leer first."
Afterward, she asked, "Miss Thornton, are you staying for dinner?"
Emma's expression darkened as she got up from the sofa and said, "No, I have plans tonight."
Before leaving, she reminded Charlotte, "When Sophia comes down later, tell her that I'll come to see her tomorrow."
Charlotte respectfully agreed and watched as Emma left.
