Chapter 19
Dominic gazed at Vivienne with pure adoration as he slipped the ring from his pocket–the same one he’d never gotten to give her in his previous life. Watching it slide onto her finger, he finally knew everything had changed.[]
Whatever miracle had brought him back, he’d be grateful forever.[]
Since Vivienne was still recovering, Dominic didn’t push her to go back to work. She wasn’t ready to deal with people anyway, so she started drawing little webcomics from home.[]
Her comics accidentally went viral on Instagram. Before she knew it, she had a real career going and zero desire to work anywhere
else.
She’d been living with Dominic since her discharge.[]
Her family had tried visiting twice. Both times ended in disaster, so now Dominic just had security turn them away.[]
They hired a housekeeper, and Vivienne would occasionally surprise him with lunch at the office. Those were the staff’s favorite days–the boss was infinitely less terrifying when his fiancée was around.[]
Today, after wrapping up her latest story arc, she decided to bring him dinner.[]
Dominic had been pulling brutal hours lately, coming home after she was already asleep. She’d wake up drowsily when he slipped into bed and pulled her close.[]
His morning texts reminding her to eat breakfast were the only proof he’d been there at all.[]
They hadn’t shared a real meal in weeks.[]
At his office building, she took his private elevator straight up.[]
“Mr. Ashford’s in a meeting. Let me buzz him for you.“]]
“Don’t worry about it. I’ll find him myself.“[]
She set the takeout containers on his office table, then wandered toward the conference room.]
The atmosphere inside was tense. Cameron and Leona–people she hadn’t seen in months.
“Viv’s my sister! You can’t just block me from seeing her!“[]
Dominic’s laugh was ice–cold. “Sister? The way you and your family treated her was anything but sisterly.“[]
“I’m not keeping Viv prisoner. She doesn’t want to see you.“[]
“Bullshit! We’re her family–the people who matter most to her!“[]
Dominic couldn’t believe Cameron’s audacity.[]
“The last few times you showed up, you demanded she accept Leona. Every visit ended with Viv in tears for days afterward. You want to prove you care? Ditch the replacement daughter and start groveling.“]
Leona’s eyes immediately filled with tears.[]
“Dom, what has Vivienne been saying about me? You used to be so sweet. How can you ask my brother to throw me away?“|[]

Chapter 19
Dominic shut down her victim act immediately.[]
“Viv’s never said a single negative word about you. That’s all you, trying to paint her as the villain. What’s your angle here?“[]
He held up his left hand, showing off his wedding ring. “We’re engaged now. Cut the dramatics that might upset my fiancée.“]]
“Maybe I made mistakes before, but she’s awake now. Stay the hell away from us. Actually, do everyone a favor and get out of their house entirely. If you hurt her again, I will destroy you.“[]
The threat left Leona frozen in place.[]
Vivienne pushed through the door, her eyes briefly scanning Cameron and Leona before looking away like they were invisible.[]
“Bringing my dinner?“[]
The second he saw her, Dominic’s entire demeanor shifted from intimidating CEO to devoted fiancé.[]
“Mmm. Your assistant said you were in here. Am I interrupting?“[]
Before Dominic could answer, Cameron’s voice cut through the room.[]
“Vivienne! Can’t even say hello to your own family?“]]
She paused, turning to face him. “Should I?“[]
“We’re your blood, Viv. Even after you marry Dom, we’re still your closest family.“[]
Instead of responding, Vivienne lifted the hem of her skirt.[]
“See this? The scar goes almost through my entire thigh. Three hundred stitches from saving your lives.“[]
“I’ve still got blood clots in my brain that haven’t dissolved. The scar on my skull? You can literally feel it with your fingers.“[]
She catalogued every injury while Dominic’s face crumpled with heartbreak.]
“What is this, some kind of guilt trip?“[]
The disappointment in Vivienne’s eyes was devastating.]
“Cameron, I really overestimated you. This isn’t about pity or manipulation. I just wanted you to grasp how monumentally you’ve failed.”
“I’ve been out of the hospital for over two months. You’ve visited twice–both times to push Leona on me. Not once have you asked about my health or recovery.“]]
“You’ve disappointed me so completely. I’d rather have no family than this.“[]
Dominic couldn’t stand watching her suffer. He had security escort the Carringtons out immediately.]
Vivienne collapsed into his arms.[]
“Dom, I’m so tired.“]]
He peppered her face with tender kisses. “Forget about them. I’m your family now–the kind that’ll never bail on you or let you down.“[

Before the accident, Vivienne had been planning a big vacation. Then she’d spent five y

This time, Dominic was finally going to give her every adventure she’d
