Chapter 91 Marital Bliss
Skylar gaped at him for a moment, absorbing the bombshell he had just dropped. Then a slow smile spread across her face as realization dawned on her. With almost all her friends pregnant, she felt left out whenever they discussed, unable to contribute to their pregnancy woes. Now she could! She just hoped she got pregnant!
“Really? I want to get pregnant with your baby!” she gasped, making Christian’s jaws drop with surprise. He hadn’t expected her to be so eager to embrace motherhood since he wasn’t eager to embrace fatherhood so early. He wanted to enjoy his married life for at least two years before planning to have children.
“I wanted children too, but not so early.” He sighed, since it was actually God’s will. They had no say in the matter.
“If it has to happen early, it will. It’s destiny, Christian.”
“Yes, you’re right. It’s no use pondering over it. Come closer baby!” He grinned at her, pulling her closer, right into his lap. The water calmed them, invigorated their minds, and readied them for another round of passionate lovemaking.
“Ride me, Skylar.” His husky words commanded her to take control, making her straddle him. She leaned forward and kissed his lips, her soft center throbbing with desire all over again.
He grabbed her nape and crashed his lips to hers, while his hard, throbbing shaft slipped inside her warm slit.
Her taut nipples brushed against his bare chest as she cast a shy glance at him, watching the enraptured look on his face. This was the first time she had tried something so bold. Despite being a spitfire, she had never indulged in random sex all her life. Maybe she had been waiting for true love like Christian’s!
“I can never have enough of you, my love! You enchant me every time!” he murmured, watching her ride him. He met her thrusts with heightened passion. The water surrounding them eased the pressure off his pelvic area. He hardly felt her weight on his body. The only feeling was of heavenly bliss. Arousal and pleasure glittered in their eyes as she picked up speed.
Christian pulled back and slammed inside her repeatedly until they both climaxed together.
Skylar sucked in a deep breath, totally exhausted by the experience. She got off him and dried herself while he, too, did the same.
“How was it?” she asked with wide eyes after they wore their clothes and lay down to sleep.
“An out-of-the-world experience!” He pulled her into his arms to cuddle to sleep. Skylar rested her head against his chest, listening to his accelerated heartbeats.
“Did you feel pain?”
“Nope. The warm water helped. We can try this again tomorrow.” He pulled her closer with a smile on his face, liking the idea immensely.
“We can, but I would prefer it if you resumed your therapy to heal yourself. I want you to get rid of the limp, Christian. I want you to walk normally like you used to.”
“Yes. I will soon before our baby is born. So do you want a boy or a girl?” he asked, his voice heavy with sleep.
“Both. And you?”
“Both but I want them at one go. I don’t want you to pop out one every two years.” Skylar chuckled at his description. Of course, no one wanted to get pregnant every alternate year!
“Me too. I want twins and then our family will be complete.”
“God, are you listening?” said Christian with a wink at her.
The next morning started on a positive note with Christian’s much-needed therapy. Afterward, they went to work together like before.
Knox and Andrea came over at lunchtime to catch up with him. Skylar stayed in her office to give them a chance to reconnect. However, after a few minutes, Christian summoned her to join him for lunch. Reluctantly, she trudged all the way to his office, hoping that his friends had left.
Opening the door, she walked into his office only to see them still there, waiting for her.
“HI, Skylar! We were waiting for you,” said Andrea.
“We’ve brought lunch for all of us. Where were you for so long? Does Chris make you overwork?” asked Knox with an impish smile.
“Not at all! I’m training under our GM here. He’s the one who’s the toughest boss around.”
Cristian patted the chair next to him, gesturing for her to sit. Skylar sat down and they tucked into the food they had brought with them.
“So are you training to take over as GM of Saint James Intercontinental?” asked Andrea, but Skylar noted a tinge of jealousy in her tone.
“Yes, at Christian’s insistence,” admitted Skylar.
“No, it was Grandpa Ben’s wish, actually,” clarified Christian. “Even Sebastian’s wife, Erica, will join us when she’s better. She’s going through a critical pregnancy.”
“So when are you two planning to start a family? I can’t wait to be a godmother to your babies,” gushed Andrea.
“Why don’t you marry someone and be a mother instead?” said Christian, making her roll her eyes at him.
“No, thanks. I’m fine being a godmother to your babies.”
“What about Grandpa Vincent? Could you change his mind?” asked Skylar.
“Nope. He will consider changing his mind only if I marry the owner of Happy Matchmakers!” growled Knox, clearly annoyed by the idea.
“Oh! Who’s the owner?”
“A fraudster named Danielle Hartford. I don’t understand how Grandpa can’t see her reality!” Knox got up angrily, losing his appetite at the mention of the woman.
“I’ll get going. You guys enjoy your lunch. I’ll catch up with you tomorrow at 6 at Escapades. Be there, Chris, Skylar.” They nodded, and he stormed out of the office as if the devil were chasing him.
“He’s quite disturbed. Grandpa is serious this time,” said Andrea with a sigh.
“What about you?” asked Christian.
“I don’t want to stay here after witnessing their verbal battles every day. I need to look for a job too. Do you have a job vacancy for an architect here in your company, Chris?” asked Andrea with a sigh.
“No, we have a dedicated team of architects right now.”
“Why don’t you start an architectural consultancy while you’re still deciding?” suggested Skylar, making Andrea gape at her.
“That’s a great idea, Skylar! I love it! Maybe I’ll do that. I can start it anywhere. Once I’m sure and settled down, I’ll rent a physical office. Until then, I can manage with a virtual office and a website!”
“Yes, that would be a wise decision.”
“It will divert my mind away from the tension at home,” said Andrea with a wink. “I’ll see you later. Let me plan this well. Thanks, Skye. I’ll treat you, girl!” She waved at them and left. Skylar smiled at Christian, glad that she could connect with his friends.
“I’m glad you two bonded. Be ready by 5. We have to go to Adventist Hospital, remember?” said Christian with a groan.
“Sure, I will.” She leaned in to plant a kiss on his cheek, but he grabbed her for a passionate one instead.
“I can’t wait to get back home,” he hissed, releasing her reluctantly.
“Get some work done before that!” She chuckled and left his office in a better frame of mind.
In the evening, they visited the doctor who pronounced him medically fit.
“The limp with heal with therapy. You don’t need any medicines. Discontinue all painkillers even if you feel pain. Massage the area slowly after a compress. I’ve prescribed adequate vitamin supplements to be taken daily for three months.”
Relieved, they thanked the doctor and updated Lillian before heading home.
“Happy that I’m better now? We can enjoy tonight, the way I want!”
“And what way is that?” she asked curiously.
“You’ll see.” She rolled her eyes, waiting impatiently for his surprise.
Samuel drove them home, and Christian released Joanna and Katherine. Skylar smiled at his enthusiasm, wondering what was up with him now.
“Freshen up fast. I want you to wear something special tonight.” Skylar gaped at the man as he disappeared to the backyard. Now she was bursting with curiosity.
After ten minutes, she was ready in a light blue maxi dress she had bought a few days ago when Christian had sent her shopping. She had wanted to wear it on her next date with Christian. But it didn't happen so she might wear it tonight.
She walked out of her bedroom to look for her husband. Just like the other day, he was nowhere to be seen. Smiling, she walked out towards the backyard, her heart skipping a beat with excitement. She could hear a piece of slow instrumental music playing from the pergola. The smile stretched further as she rushed towards it. She now knew what Christian had planned. Their incomplete date!
She stood at the entrance and gazed at the man who sat waiting for her under the soft romantic lights of the pergola. His thoughtfulness bowled her over. While she had almost forgotten about their unfulfilled date, he hadn’t.
“Will you join me on a magical date tonight?” he asked, getting up.
“Yes, please.” He reached her in two strides and led her to the chair opposite him.
“Thank you for remembering, Christian.”
“My pleasure, love. I can do anything to see that sparkle in your eyes, the smile on your lips.” Skylar’s heart swelled with more love for him. If this wasn’t marital bliss, what was?
