91 Finally

91 Finally
Emma.

Saturday had arrived, the day that would mark a fresh beginning, even though Luca and I were already bound in every way that mattered. I stood before the mirror in the dressing room, taking in my reflection.

The gown Heather had chosen for me was stunning—a mermaid-style dress with intricate lace trimmings. It was daring yet elegant, with a deep V neckline that hinted at sensuality and a backless design that felt like a gentle caress on my skin.

I knew Luca wouldn’t let the dress stay on for long once we were home, but for now, I savored the sight of myself in it.

The cream color was a deliberate choice, a soft deviation from traditional white that felt perfect for me. The garden in Celio, where our vows would be exchanged, awaited, and the thought of everyone gathered there filled me with warmth.

Heather and Aldo had decided to push their wedding in two weeks. I that requested we have a double ,wedding but Lucarefused, not willing to share his day with anyone. I could understand his reason.

The door creaked open, and my mother entered, her eyes glistening with unshed tears. She looked radiant in a purple dress Leeana had chosen for her. Her joy was palpable, and it mirrored my own. Behind her, Veronica and Teressaappeared, both clad in shades of purple, symbolizing the unity that had grown between us. It felt surreal to think we had once been at odds. I had been a source of competition in their pursuit of love, yet here we were—family, bonded by the future we were building together.

My mother approached, holding a small jewelry box in her hands. My heart swelled as I realized what it contained. She opened it to reveal the family heirloom: a delicate 24-karat gold chain with a ruby pendant.

I wondered how she was able to hold onto it through our father’s debts and gambling habit. The ruby gleamed like a flicker of fire, representing the enduring love and strength passed down through the women in our family. One day, it would be Katya’s, but for now, it was my turn to carry it forward.

She gently clasped the chain around my neck and kissed the top of my head. Her voice, filled with emotion, broke the stillness of the room. “I’m sorry I wasn’t there for you when you needed me most, Emma. I wasn’t the guide I should have been. But I promise, from now on, I will always be there for you, to support and never mislead you. Thank you for everything you’ve done for us. You’re a true gem to this family. I pray your home will always be filled with love, peace, and joy, and that your years with Luca will be nothing but bliss. I’m so proud of you.”

Her words, spoken with a trembling voice, brought tears to my eyes. I reached up to place my hand over hers, giving her a reassuring smile through the mirror. Her love and approval meant more than words could express.

I glanced at Teressa and Veronica, whose eyes were misty as well. Teressa spoke first. “You and Luca are truly meant to be, Emma. I’m glad you made it.” Her words surprised me, as I knew her history with Luca had been complicated. She had once vied for his affection, driven by ambition, but now, she was stepping into her role as a leader in her own right. It was heartening to see the transformation in her—Teressa was more than capable of leading her family to greatness alongside Bruce. The bimbo act had been a mask, concealing her intelligence and strength.

Veronica remained silent but gave me a knowing smile. Tomas had been a shadow over both our lives, and while his end had brought justice, it had also left scars on our souls. There was an unspoken understanding between us, a shared relief tinged with the weight of what we had endured.

The room’s atmosphere shifted as Tatiana, Castelo’s heavily pregnant wife, entered. I had urged her to rest, given how close she was to giving birth, but her determination won out. Heather and Leana followed behind her, her ever-present smile lighting up the space.

“It’s time, Emma,” Heather said with a playful glint in her eyes. “Everyone’s waiting. Don’t keep the boss on his feet too long.” Her teasing tone brought laughter to the room, easing the bittersweet emotions lingering in the air.
