Chapter 28 THE REVELATION

Chapter 28 THE REVELATION
TWENTY-EIGHT | THE REVELATION

LYRA

Throughout the ride back to the pack, I was stiff. The twins tried to talk to me, but I remained unresponsive. They probably thought it was because I was scared of Orion’s threat to take my child.

What they didn’t know was that I was hiding something… something so big they would freak out if they found out.

Anika was at the back of one of the cars.

“Are you sure you’re fine?” Damian asked for the umpteenth time.

I nodded my head, afraid to look at him so he wouldn’t see the anxiety eating away at me.

After we agreed to make Orion pay for everything he did, Anika begged me to let her come with me. I rejected it immediately but felt pity for her when she explained her living situation.

If Orion found her, he would kill her since he believed she was dead and wanted it to stay that way. The only place she could be safe from him would be the Valentino pack, but I knew they hated her.

They hated all members of my family because of what they did to me. There was no point in asking if she could come; they would never agree.

So I came up with a plan. If she hid in the boot of one of the guards’ cars, she wouldn’t be spotted.

That was one of the reasons I yelled at Orion, apart from letting my heart out. I needed a distraction so she could sneak in. There were several rooms in the mansion, and I knew the twins hadn’t visited some of them in years. I would make her stay there.

We soon got back home.

“I’ll be right after you. I still need some time to process everything,” I said, wanting them to go first while I came later.

I wanted to stall so I could sneak her in before the guards took the car away.

Instead of leaving, they walked a few steps away and sat down, both of them.

“What do you both think you’re doing?” I eyed them.

“Looking after you. We’re not going to leave you alone, Lyra. There are dangerous people everywhere,” Damian stated simply.

I knew there was no point arguing. They were going to do what they wanted, and not even I could change that fact.

I wouldn’t get a chance to sneak her in now. Maybe I’d get the chance later at night, but not now.

When the guards began driving the car she was in away, I knew I had to do something. I needed to know at least where it was being taken so I’d know where to look later.

“Where are they taking that car?” I pouted, pointing at it.

Damien traced my gaze and raised an eyebrow. “Why do you care?”

I tried to come up with a reason that wouldn’t sound suspicious but found none, so I blurted out the first thing that came to mind. “That’s my dream car. I’ve always wanted to have one of those. Can I have the car?”

Luckily, they didn’t suspect anything and easily bought my lie. “I’ll get you a new one tomorrow. That one, however, is going back to the garage.”

I followed them in afterward, already having all the information I needed.

Since it was already night, I ate a little and announced that I’d be going to bed.

“You’ll be staying in my room today.”

I almost spat out the water in my mouth when Damien said that.

There was a loophole in my plan that I had completely forgotten. It skipped my mind that I had to sleep with one of the twins every night now due to the danger.

“Can I sleep in my room tonight? Just for tonight? I want to be alone. You can stay outside my room—”

“No!” He cut me off firmly, his mind already made up.

I didn’t have a choice. I had to find a way to get Anika out of the boot as soon as possible. I usually wouldn’t object to the idea of sleeping in a room with either of them, but I needed to now. So I put up a fight.

I brought up a topic I knew would cause tension and make them uneasy.

“I don’t want to sleep in your room, Damien.”

“And why is that? You had no problem staying with Damian,” he asked.

I sighed, frowning. “I don’t want to stay with either of you when you’re hiding something from me. I heard you both the day you were arguing.”

They both froze, and Damian even dropped the plate in his hands. I thought they would push the conversation or insist I stay with one of them, but fortunately, they didn’t.

Damien got up, his fists clenched. “You’ll sleep in Damian’s room then, and he’ll take yours. That would be safer.”

He walked out without another word, and Damian refused to look me in the eyes, probably ashamed that I’d heard them that day.

“Goodnight,” I greeted, but got no response.

I rolled my eyes and walked away, going into his room and checking to make sure there were no cameras.

Once I was sure the coast was clear, I lay on the bed, waiting for the right time to sneak out. I just needed them to sleep first so I could get Anika.

I tried to stay awake, but I was truly tired, and soon, I drifted into sleep.

I hadn’t slept for long when I heard movements in my room. My eyes snapped open, and a figure stood right in front of me. I wanted to scream, but my mouth was covered.

Luckily, it was only Anika.

“What are you doing here? You scared me so much. How did you get out of the car? How did you know I was here?” I had so many questions, but the answers she gave me weren’t for them.

“I found out about the night. The night you allegedly slept with Orion.”

I sat up instantly, wanting to hear more. “What happened that night? I can’t remember a lot about it. It’s as if someone tampered with my brain and wiped that night from my memory.”

“That’s because they did. Orion did. He wasn’t the one with you that night. He wasn’t the one you had sex with. It was someone else. I don’t know who it was, but I had someone look into it for me, and I found a name.”

I was even more confused than before. I might not remember much from that night, but I did recall going into the room with Orion. I was sure of that part.

“I found out that Orion drugged you and sold you to an Alpha for a night. A Lycan named Adrian.”
