Chapter 114 114

Chapter 114 114
DIESEL POV
The more the footsteps kept getting closer, the more my hand instinctively moved toward the knife at my waist. I turned sharply, body already tense and ready for whatever was coming.
But then Hawk came out of the corner.
I let out a breath. I wasn’t expecting him at all — not when I had left him in the middle of what we were doing earlier, and he had claimed he needed to sort some shit out.
“Hey,” I said, looking at him.
He was breathing heavily, eyes darting around the hallway like he was searching for something he couldn’t find. His face was all twisted up, sweat on his forehead, looking like he’d lost the most important thing in the world.
“What the fuck is it?” I asked again, trying to catch his attention.
“Hey D,” he said, still scanning every shadow. “Have you seen Raven?”
Wow, so it’s about Raven.
“So you’re looking like a stolen goat because of Raven?” I said, chuckling with a smile.
“Will you just give me an answer if you know where she is?” Hawk snapped.
I stood up straight and slipped my hands into my pockets, looking at my friend in amusement. He had left me alone to finish the rest of the work just so he could come and stay with Raven. Was love really hitting him this hard in just a few days?
I didn’t want to tell him where she was, but I had to pity the poor guy. He literally looked like…
“She’s with Daisy,” I told him, nodding toward the closed door of my quarters. “And stop acting like she’s missing. Has Raven ever slept outside the club before?”
Hawk froze for a second. Then he let out a big breath of relief, his shoulders dropping like someone had just taken a hundred pounds off his back.
“That’s why I’m worried,” he admitted, rubbing the back of his neck. “It felt strange not seeing her. She wasn’t in her usual spot, wasn’t answering her phone… I thought something happened.”
He still kept glancing around, eyes flicking left and right, like he expected Raven to pop out from under the carpet or something.
I shook my head, a small smirk tugging at my lips. In just a few days, love had turned my brother into this — a man running around at night, sweating bullets over a woman who used to be all sharp edges and attitude.
“Go get some rest,” I said. “She’s safe. They both are. We’ll talk about the other shit in the morning.”
Hawk gave one last look at the door, then nodded slowly. “Yeah… alright.”
He turned and walked away, but his steps were much lighter now, the panic gone.
I stood there in the hallway a little longer, still shaking my head with a quiet chuckle under my breath.
Love really could hit hard and fast.
And tonight, it looked like it had finally caught up to Hawk too.

I passed the rest of the night in the hallway. It wasn’t that I didn’t have anywhere else to sleep — I just felt like if I couldn’t be beside her, staying this near was still much better.
I lay there, picturing what her face would look like on her special day. I didn’t know how long I stayed lost in those thoughts until I finally drifted off.
A soft hand on my shoulder woke me up. I rubbed my eyes, chasing the sleep away, and saw Raven standing over me.
“Do you have to sleep here?” she asked, her voice low but amused. Morning light was already filtering through the windows at the end of the hallway.
I just smiled, still half-asleep.
Raven shook her head. “Daisy is still sleeping,” she added quietly, then turned and walked away without another word.
I sat up slowly, stretching my stiff back, then pushed open the door to our quarters and stepped inside.
The room was quiet, soft morning light touching everything. Daisy was still curled up in bed, breathing slow and even, wearing one of my shirts that looked way too big on her small frame. She looked peaceful — no tension in her shoulders, just soft, quiet sleep.
I didn’t want to wake her.
Instead, I pulled a chair over and placed it right in front of the bed. I sat down, leaning forward with my elbows on my knees, and just watched her.
Her hair was messy across the pillow, one hand tucked under her cheek, lips slightly parted. Every now and then she made a tiny sound in her sleep, like a soft sigh. I couldn’t stop the small smile that crept onto my face.
I stayed there for a long time, just looking at her sleeping face, memorizing every little detail. The way her lashes rested against her cheeks, the small freckle near her ear, how peaceful she looked.
“Tomorrow is your birthday, Sleeping Bird,” I muttered with a smile.
