Chapter 108 108

Chapter 108 108
DIESEL POV

Rage boiled hot in my chest the second Raven burst in and snatched the tray.

Plates crashed to the floor. Eggs, bacon, toast, and coffee splattered everywhere. The strong smell filled the room.

But I wasn’t looking at the mess.

I was looking at Daisy.

She sat frozen on the edge of the bed, eyes wide, face pale. Hot coffee and oil had splashed onto her lap, soaking through the shirt she was wearing. She didn’t even react to the heat. She just stared at the spilled food like someone had hit her.

Raven’s voice cut through the silence, sharp and accusing.

“Why the hell will you eat that?! Are you going that far crazy for her? Not minding if she poisons you?!”

The word “poisons” hit like a slap.

Daisy flinched.

I moved fast.

I grabbed a clean towel and quickly wiped the hot liquid off her lap before it could burn her skin worse. My hand was gentle, but my voice came out low.

“Are you okay?”

She tried to speak but nothing came out. Her lips pressed together hard. Tears filled her eyes as she fought to hold them back. Then she suddenly stood up like she wanted to run out of the room.

I caught her wrist before she could take even one step.

“Stay,” I said firmly, pulling her back to me. “Don’t go anywhere.”

She looked at me, eyes glassy, and gave a small nod.

I turned to Raven, grabbed her arm, and dragged her out into the hallway. She stumbled behind me.

“You are freaking hurting me!” Raven snapped, yanking her arm free. We stopped in the middle of the hallway.

I let her go but stepped closer, looking down at her.

“What the fuck was that?” I asked, voice cold.

Raven’s chest rose and fell fast. “She just made you a damn breakfast! With eggs — you are freak allergic to that shit and you still went ahead to eat and —”

“Stop.”

My voice cut her off.

Raven opened her mouth to speak again, but I screamed, “Shut the fuck up!”

The sound echoed in the hallway. Raven flinched, eyes wide with shock.

I hated raising my voice at her like that. I never wanted to. She was like a sister to me. But she had really crossed the line this time.

My chest was starting to itch badly now. The allergic reaction was rising fast — a warm, prickly rash spreading across my neck and arms. My throat felt tight. But I kept my eyes on Raven.

“You are talking about my allergy,” I said, breathing harder. “Do you remember how you know about it? Because you made damn eggs for me. Just how Daisy did. Harmlessly. You have no clue back then, just like her.”

Raven’s face twisted. She looked hurt, angry, and jealous all at once.

As the anger kept building, I finally said what I had been holding back.

It will be a lie if I said I never noticed Raven’s hate for Daisy all this while.

“Listen, Raven,” I said.

“She’s just like you. Her life, her pain, her situation — she never wanted it that way. So stop blaming her for the debt, for the drama, for everything. Remember you were once that way too. I picked you from the pit and gave you a home. Just like I saved her and gave her a home.”

By now Raven’s eyes were already filled with tears, but I turned to leave.

Her voice stopped me.

“Yes, I’m like her,” she said, voice shaking. “You picked me from the pit and gave me a home just as you saved her and gave her a home. But you have never looked at me the way you look at her. You never…”

She couldn’t finish the sentence. Her voice broke.

I stood still in the hallway, back to her, chest tight from both the allergy and her words.

The silence stretched.

All I could think was how crazy it was that she also missed the fact that someone had been looking at her the same way she wanted and craved for so long.

I turned my head slightly and spoke without looking at her.

My chest is squeezing from more than just the allergy. “Kill whatever you feel for me, Raven. And start seeing the person who’s been looking at you the way you want me to.”

I walked away.

Her sobs followed me down the hall.

When I reached the doorway, Daisy was standing there, tears streaming down her face.

“Why didn’t you tell me you’re allergic?” she choked out. “I just wanted to do one thing right, and I almost—”

I pulled her into my chest before she could finish, wrapping my arms around her tight.

“I’m more allergic to your tears than I am to eggs,” I murmured into her hair.
