Chapter 24 Tears before decision
Chapter 24 Tears before decision
Nyx's p.o.v
I feel dirty. Used. Slut.
Maybe I am truly the slut he chanted to me so erotically this morning while he gave me a mouthwatering orgasm with my standing outside his door.
Shameful. I'm shameful.
To crown it, I let my uncle who has a pregnant fiancee defile me so enjoyably I could cry. I let him cheat on another woman with me.
I slum on my bed as tears gush down my eyes, I had ran in after he declared she was staying. What could be more disturbing, now I have to wake up everyday to look her in the eyes and not able to admit. I was the other woman. His niece. His other woman.
Am I cursed with wrong decision?
For Travis, he's a lying, cheating bastard. Who whispers sweet slutty things to me while he's inside me but abandons a pregnant woman.
I bawled my eyes out, choking on my own tears. My phone binged and I licked it up, staring at the bright screen with glassy eyes.
It was a message. I wiped my eyes.
An invitation to Xavier's party. ‘Holy party’ that what the text says. I frowned. Do priest host parties?
Anyway I wasn't going. The party's venue is at his father's house. Which means if I go, I get to see Pa Paul.
Uhhh no.
I flung my phone on the bed and I watched it bounce. I wasn't going to take him on his words. He might just have lied that he knows my father. I'll pass.
I slept off with my thoughts.
”
Four o.clock! I glanced at my phone, I slept for hours? Memories of what happened earlier flashed through my mind.
Hurt flared in my chest.
I sighed heavily.
I freshen up, dressed up and walked out, saying a silent prayer not to come across Travis.
I guess God hates me.
“You both dared to leave my organization unattended to without permission,” I heard his hoarse fury laced voice before I saw them.
Before him stood mom and Kent while his back was to me. They both stood in front of him like children being reprimanded.
My heart skipped a beat.
Mom turned to Kent. “I told you to inform him,” she said accusatory, her eyes twitch.
She's lying.
“I forgot,” he said grudgingly.
“We are s…,” mom began
“Save the bullshit,” he snapped, he's angry not just at them I could tell. “You both will walk both day and night shift for two days.”
“But we were only gone for a day,” mom protested.
“Oh. News.” He said sarcastically.
Then he rose up, he turned to get ascend the stairs, then he saw me. He paused for just a fleet second as he took in my appearance. Something flushed through his eyes only for a bear before it disappeared. But I saw it. Hurt. Or even shame.
But different questions swarm iny chest but one stood out.
Was she in his room?
“When is your resignation notice ending?” He asked, his voice still held the anger from earlier but not with the same fervor.
“In a month.”
Anger burned my throat.
“Hurry up with it, we need more hands at the club” and with that he walked off.
Prick.
Like I was in charge of the clock.
“I can't wait to kill him,” Kent said, mom pinched him.
“Don't say that around your younger sister”
Here she goes, acting like I'm a child.
“Nyx,” Kent said, peering at me like he just discovered something. “Why's your eyes swollen.”
Kent’s words hit and my hand flew to my eyes instinctively.
Oh.
Understanding crashed down hard.
That look Travis gave me earlier it wasn’t hurt.
It was pity.
My chest caved in. God, I’ve made a complete fool of myself.
“Probably… too much rice yesterday,” I muttered, grabbing the first stupid excuse that came to mind.
Kent squinted. “But you looked okay hours ago.”
I didn’t reply. What was I supposed to say? I cried myself sick because your boss used me and discarded me?
Silence swallowed us.
Anyway thank God I wouldn’t have to resume until tomorrow. At least I could go to Xavier’s party and be anywhere but here.
Mom gasped suddenly. “A party? I thought he was a priest.”
My thoughts exactly.
“It’s a holy party, Mom,” I said dryly.
She frowned like the word offended her. Kent pointed at me. “He invited you too, right?”
I nodded.
“Nyx,” Mom said sharply, “don’t tell me you plan on going out to a party.”
“It’s a holy one,” I snapped.
She glared at me, that look she always gives when she remembers I’m no longer a child but refuses to accept it.
I hate that look.
“I’m twenty-two, for God’s sake,” I muttered under my breath.
My phone binged.
I looked down.
Lena: Are you going to Xavier’s party? I’m going.
A strange sense of relief washed over me. Staying home with Mom, Travis, and his pregnant fiancée was not an option. Not tonight. Not ever.
If I went to Xavier’s house, there’d be people. Noise. Witnesses
.
And Pa Paul wouldn’t dare do anything stupid not with that many eyes around.
I typed back quickly.
Me: Yeah. I’m coming.
Decision made.
