Chapter 51 Chapter 51
Chapter 51 Chapter 51
Tessa
I shook my head softly, trying to clear my mind and focus my head on what was on the ground; my heart race wouldn't help matters as it kept on pounding against my chest like a heavy hammer slamming through a hard object, trying to break it by all means.
"I am sorry, Alex, I didn't catch the question." I lied, wondering if it would make him see I had no idea of what he was talking about and let me be.
But if I thought he would give up, shake his head at me in disbelief or pure disappointment, and walk away, then I was mistaken because Alex's expression further deepened as he stared down at me.
"Pretty way to play deaf and dumb," he eyed me. "I said what is going on between you and Liam?" Alex drew closer and screamed in my ear.
"Geez!" I exclaimed, tingling my ear from the repeated echoing. "Seriously, you went to that extent," I sighed, palming my forehead.
"I will go to any extent for you to reply to my questions and stop ignoring them," He answered.
"To be honest with you, your questions were the least of what I expected you to ask me. Not only did it come as a shock, it sounds absurd." I cross my hands over my chest to fix my gaze on him; in that way, I might pass the point I don't need.
"Absurd? In what way?" He asks flatly.
"Absurd in the sense that you would think something is going on between me and Liam," I replied immediately.
"So what are you trying to say now, because I don't understand you?"
"Is hard for you to understand me or what? What I am trying or rather been trying to put out to you is that there is absolutely nothing going on between me and Liam. Period." I drag the last words making emphasis on it.
Alex scoffed unbelievably, his expression glowered down at me. "Do you think I am joking here or what? I don't want to get mad at you because I feel like you are playing games with me on this matter?"
"And why would you think so? I am so damn serious here, there is nothing between us. I would say it for the thousandth time if it please you." I nod to my words.
"And you expect me to believe you? It is written on your both faces, your expression, the way you guys moved and behaved is so weird if you don't know, and it is pointing out a lot."
"You are taking this too far, Alex. I didn't know you had so much time to monitor our movements and behavior. You are one funny dude." I laughed.
"It is not funny," His face turned red in a heated embarrassment.
"I am sorry, pardon me, it is just," I burst into another fit of laughter. "I am sorry," I cleared my throat and mustered the most serious face my head could process. "I understand what you mean, Alex; although it sounds so funny, to be sincere, we are fine. Nothing is going on between us, Okay?" I say.
Although he looks unconvinced and still wants to argue more about it he knew better to keep his cool and let the matter be.
"Fine." He muttered and walked out, I sighed and hurried to join him.
"Are you so mad about the investigation stuff that you didn't bother to wait to walk down together?" I say matching my pace with his slow, dull one.
"Yes," He answered not bothering to spare me a glance.
We both returned downstairs, where both Liam and Leah were. We began the preparation for the grilled meat, but I was so tense and nervous and, on top of it all, scared. Alex's eyes seemed to dart and watch my every movement; he watched closely and listened to every interaction I had with Liam, be it important, a joke, or a comment.
"Tess, pass me the knife," Liam says, gesturing to the rack beside me.
I picked the knife to give him; I don't know if it was intentional, but Liam's fingers brushed my wrist, and I kind of shuddered.
When I stylishly glanced at the mirror, Alex's eyes were fixed on me, and I needed no one to tell me that he had seen what just happened. There are enough reasons for him to get his thoughts up back again.
At that instant, I suddenly felt hot all over my body and decided to go relax my mind in the bathroom; a little splash of water on my face and hair forehead would cook my temperature down.
"I will be right back shortly, want to make use of the bathroom." I touched Leah's shoulder, and she answered with a nod.
I entered the bathroom and heaved a sigh of relief. I turned to shut the door, but a leg at the end of the door stopped the motion.
My heart skipped a bit knowing who it was; Liam bust into the bathroom.
"You followed me down here? What if our presence suddenly got noticed by Alex and Leah?" I say, shocked, still standing in between the entry and the bathroom itself.
"Our presence won't be noticed by anyone; they are too engrossed in the grilled meat that they won't be bothered by our disappearance," Liam replied, leaning on the doorpost.
"Doesn't make any sense to me. You ought to be there; we can't be both here; what if Leah or even Alex get hold of us? Do you know what it means if we get caught by any of them?" I ask flaring up.
"Stop getting panicky, baby girl. Working yourself up or getting mad won't change the fact that I am here." Liam hissed and pushed me inside the bathroom; I held the door before he could grab it.
"Tessa," He growled.
"Do you have the idea that Alex is beginning to get suspicious at our newfound togetherness at every fucking moment," Anger blazed in my eyes, but Liam is not the type of guy to get moved?
"And so if he knows? How is that my business anyways, or what does it get to do with you?" He shrugged carelessly.
I can't believe he is saying this to me right now; I feel like smacking his little lips for the words and maybe sending sense to his rotten brain.
"Had it been that I have not known for you quite some time, I would have slapped you for what you just did. I don't know, maybe you heard me or not; I said Alex is growing suspicious of us already, and you dare tell me it is none of your business." I glared at him.
"Ohh what were you expecting me to say? 'Sorry baby, don't you cry. Everything is going to be alright.' Should I sing you the song? It might pacify you, right? Or what exactly was I supposed to do with the newfound knowledge?" He spread his arms vaguely, and with one push of the door from my hands, he stepped into the bathroom fully and closed the door.
"Don't, Liam, not here, now now," I warn sternly.
"Tess, get down on your knees and suck me off." He says, ignoring everything I have been saying.
