70. Longing and Mission

Cathy was relieved when Luca moved on. At least this time, she could lay down on the bed when it got dark. It was such a struggle of mind and heart that she didn't know what to do.

Yes, now she was just waiting for Jonathan to return. For some reason, her gut feeling told her that he might be digging for information about Luca.

It was also possible that Jonathan had been trying to investigate for a long time but just happened to get information about Luca. Whether this was true or not, Cathy was just trying to be on the safe side. Cathy had even forgotten that she would be bait for her anonymous client, who was still unknown.

Cathy let out her heavy breathing as she stared at the ceiling. "Every human will die anyway. It's just that the way and time are different."

"But why am I still bothering about that?" Cathy continued until she unconsciously fell asleep.

The main door of Jonathan's residence was wide open when she arrived with Jayden in tow. The servants also politely welcomed their boss. Jonathan just walked straight as if he didn't care about them.

Jonathan suddenly broke his steps. He turned around. "Have you eaten?"

"No, sir," the servants said.

"No need to wait for me to come and eat first. You can do that as long as you remain polite when I arrive. Do you understand?"

"Understood, sir."

"Ah! Where is my wife?"

"Madame Catharina seems to be in her room. She hasn't been out all day, probably because she's still recovering," explained one of the servants.

Instead of calming Jonathan down, the man became agitated. If his wife wasn't out, she could be making plans or had even run away from home even though he had checked Cathy's cell phone tracking earlier.

Without saying a word, Jonathan climbed the stairs.

"Mr. Jonathan," Jayden called out.

"What?"

"Now that I think about it, we don't need to investigate Mr. Luca anymore..."

"I said no need!" Jonathan interrupted Jayden's sentence.

"Okay."

Jayden just stood in front of the couple's room, bowing politely until Jonathan went inside.

Jonathan looked at his wife, who was just asleep in a long white nightgown without a blanket. Jonathan took off his blazer, leaving only a fitted shirt that molded to his muscular body.

Jonathan adjusted Cathy's sleeping position. "What exactly is she doing?" He guessed as he spread the blanket for her.

Jonathan didn't sleep next to Cathy. He went to his study, opened the balcony door, and sat on the lounge chair that overlooked the backyard as he smoked a cigarette.

Jonathan looked very sexy as the smoke billowed into the air.

"I'm becoming more and more convinced that Luca is something." Jonathan squinted as he crushed the cigarette between his fingers. "He's very suspicious."

"If it's not an anonymous client, then it's someone he's in contact with," he continued.

His focus broke when the cell phone on the table rang. Jonathan didn't pick up immediately. He stared at Jayden's name on the screen for some time.

"What is it?" Jonathan picked up the phone and asked in his husky tone. Then he listened to the man speak.

"What?!" Jonathan gasped.

After hanging up the call from Jayden, Jonathan walked into his office. He took a business card and carried it back to the balcony until he finally contacted the figure.

Jonathan felt that he no longer needed to delay and keep an eye on the blue-eyed man. Besides burning with jealousy, Jonathan also felt that the man was suspicious. What if Luca ended up hurting Catharina?

"Hm. Is this Mr. Luca?" Jonathan asked, confirming in a low tone once he was connected.

"Hm. Yes?"

"Sorry to disturb you in the middle of the night."

"Yes, very disturbing. I've just fallen asleep." Luca's voice sounded hoarse and broken. "Who and what's the occasion?"

"I'm Jonathan Andrea Beltz."

"Ah... What's wrong? Our first meeting was not pleasant. You were not very friendly. It was also rude of you to call in the middle of the night. Don't tell me you're just on a whim?"

Jonathan grinned. "You like talking."

"Of course I do. I've gotten a lot of clients because I'm good at talking and of course because of my skills."

"I'm afraid I'm not on a whim."

"What?"

Jonathan's face looked cold. The look in his eyes was sharp. "I want to work with you."

Luca was silent for a moment before replying, "Are you for real?"

Jonathan grinned again as he exhaled softly. "I want to work with a designer like you to design a cozy room for me and my wife."

"Okay. I'd be honored if you appreciated my work."

"Then, let's meet tomorrow to discuss the design further."

"But I'm also a very busy person. What time would you like us to meet? Then I will adjust."

Again Catharina woke up in the morning without her husband by her side. But she did realize one thing: Jonathan had come home. Cathy saw that his sleeping position was neater and covered. Who else if not her cold husband again?

To make sure, Cathy went downstairs. Luckily, she found Jonathan sipping coffee quite hurriedly.

"Are you awake, dear?" greeted Jonathan putting down the coffee, then approaching his wife. He gave her a sweet peck on the forehead.

"Where have you been since yesterday? Why didn't you come with me?" Cathy complained.

"I have something to take care of.

"Shouldn't I know what you're taking care of too?"

Jonathan gently rubbed his wife's cheek. "Now is a dangerous time for you to leave the house. You've been targeted unless you want to kill me. It's very dangerous outside."

"It wouldn't be dangerous if I wasn't by your side, Jonathan." Cathy stroked her husband's lips.

Jonathan chuckled. "Are you teasing me?"

"You think?" Cathy whispered sexily. "I'm lonely, baby."

Cathy moved away from her husband. "There's no guarantee of my safety at home anyway. What if that anonymous client sneaks up on me?"

"They won't, Cathy. This house is very secure. I have detectors out there. Strangers I don't register, they won't just walk in." Jonathan took another step closer. "I've even deleted the names of my family too."

"Really?"

Jonathan didn't answer. He just stared at Cathy like she was starving. Then he touched his wife's face, which somehow felt so stinging. Cathy was so shocked that she let out a small sigh.

"Argh! Jonathan..." Cathy couldn't help herself. "Fuck me!"

Jonathan grinned, devouring Cathy's lips with lust. They engaged in a hot kiss, and then Cathy was in Jonathan's arms. The kiss went down to her neck. Jonathan lowered the top of her dress until both mountains were devoured while one hand played on her clit.

"Argh!" Cathy continued to sigh until she was wet.

"You're wet, baby," Jonathan whispered.

"Then don't stop."

"Sorry. I can't fuck a sick person. I have to go."
