56. Getting Tense

At least by meeting Luca, Cathy had a little peace of mind. Luca was indeed the quencher of all her worries. He was mature, nurturing, and always patient. He is the polar opposite of Jonathan, although both are charming, especially in bed.

Cathy was out of her mind. Indeed!

Cathy knew she was Jonathan Andrea Beltz's legal wife, but she played along behind his back. She was ignorant. Her life has gone to hell. Cathy just needed some peace, and it just so happened that Luca had come to bring her everything she needed. Also, between Luca and Cathy, some memories remain.

But Cathy also felt nervous when Luca suspected her chaotic state. It's just that Luca is very understanding of the situation. He wouldn't force anything while Cathy wasn't opening up. Luca has a push-pull method that Cathy likes.

It wasn't like Jonathan, who was always imposing his will, especially on his.

But this time, meeting Luca wasn't a good thing even though Cathy needed that peace of mind. Presumably, she could breathe a sigh of relief after Luca left. Then Cathy used the time to hunt down her father. She didn't want to waste the rest of it even though her time had been taken by Luca,

"I have to go!" she was sure.

Over and over again, Cathy emphasized to herself that the mess she was in now was a result of what she had done. Honestly, Cathy regretted it. But she didn't want to dwell on it too much. What she needed to do now was to find a way out and quit all the crazy games.

The shooting that happened to her was a reminder that her goal of marrying Jonathan had yet to come to fruition. There was no significant progress. Cathy could have killed the man.

Even though Jonathan was tough and invincible, he would be easily defeated by sex. Instead, Cathy looks for other ways to uncover the irregularities in her mission. Again, Cathy also enjoyed her bed life with Jonathan. She found it enjoyable. Jonathan also has charisma and charm.

Now, her head is filled with many assumptions about her father. Since her father and Jonathan had worked together, it didn't rule out the possibility of a grudge. Cathy had to consider all the unnecessary possibilities.

Therefore, her father disguised himself as an anonymous client, who gave Cathy the mission to kill Jonathan that night. It could also be that Cal knew everything, but he kept quiet as if he was giving Cathy rigorous training.

"Argh! Damn it!" Cathy grumbled as she walked through the deserted hallways of the hospital.

Cathy was so fed up.

Her father was unpredictable. He was the creepiest person Cathy anticipated more than anyone else. Cathy's father could do crazy, unpredictable things.

On Cathy's seventeenth birthday, her father gave her a box of gifts. Cathy was flattered, but when she opened the box, she was immediately traumatized. Her father gave her a gift containing a time bomb that would kill her child.

Dad said such a gift would keep Cathy from getting carried away with unnecessary teenage fun. To him, it would ruin Cathy's future so that she would only grow up as a spoiled, conservative girl.

What a crazy father.

That's not all. There were many other madnesses that Cathy could no longer imagine.

Working with Jonathan was his hope from the beginning. Even Cathy's goal in marrying Jonathan was to monitor the odd things she experienced. Over time, she felt Jonathan was more suitable as a partner. So, Cathy continues to buy time to find the right evidence before killing Jonathan.

But after it seemed that her father was involved, even being in Los Angeles made Cathy not want to involve Jonathan. Because from the first she did not expect her family would also get involved.

If it's like this, Cathy doesn't want to involve outsiders either. She wants to take care of it herself.

Catharina Sophie Sanders. She is the daughter of the powerful Michael Sanders and a woman named Elina Zamora.

Elina fully supports Michael's way of educating his only daughter on the pretext that Cathy will become a child who is no less tough than her father even though she is a girl.

Elina didn't want her daughter to grow up as a cowardly, timid woman like her. She wants Cathy to be like the brave, fearless Irene. It had been a long time since Elina had met her close friend from the past, Irene.

Before leaving the big hospital, Cathy visited a hospital pharmacy in case there was any problem with her stitched-up stomach.

"I need some painkillers," Cathy told the pharmacist on duty.

"There are various kinds of pain relievers. Can you tell me specifically for what kind of pain?"

"Argh!" Cathy cursed inwardly. What is this again? Why was the pharmacist complicating things?

"I need to give you the right medicine," the woman continued kindly.

Cathy didn't answer immediately. Her forefinger tapped the glass display case repeatedly while biting her lower lip as her brain continued to work. She was weighing up many things.

"Well..." Cathy finally opened her voice. "I just had surgery for a gunshot wound. I need some painkillers."

"You have to recover after surgery. Isn't it?" The pharmacist probed. "And painkillers are already in one prescription. So, you don't need to come here."

"But I do. I have work, so I have to go." Cathy didn't want to give up.

The pharmacist's gaze shook her even more. He looked at her suspiciously. "Alright. I'll go inside to get the right medicine for you."

While waiting for the pharmacist, Cathy sat on a stool and leaned back as the stinging sensation returned.

"Please, not now!" Cathy braced herself to persevere despite the sweat dripping down her forehead.

Cathy also didn't realize that some passers-by were busy whispering about her. Perhaps it was because of Cathy's appearance in a patient dress that looked quite shabby. Her hair was a mess. She was also busy enduring the increasingly excruciating pain.

Well, Cathy's appearance was horrible. Or it could be appalling. She looked like a fugitive, not a victim or a patient who needed to be praised.

"Catharina bitch! I knew it had to be you."

Cathy didn't need to turn around. She could already guess the deafeningly loud voice like an empty barrel. Cathy could recognize the voice's owner.
