Chapter 166
Chapter 166
Isaiah pretended he hadn't seen anything, still looking at Amelia with concern.
"Amelia, you okay? What's wrong?"
"Why can't you even walk straight?"
Isaiah's tone was dripping with sarcasm as he lightly pressed his hands on Amelia's waist.
The touch made Amelia feel sick, and she instinctively shoved Isaiah away with all her strength.
"If it weren't for you, I wouldn't be stumbling around!"
Amelia didn't hesitate to tear off his facade, pushing him so hard that Isaiah staggered and almost lost his balance.
Isaiah forced a smile. "You're blowing this out of proportion. Why would I trip you on purpose? What do I gain from that, right, Raymond?"
Isaiah turned to look mockingly at Raymond, standing at the door.
Raymond stood tall, leaning against the door frame, his expression cold as he watched the two in the office.
Hearing Isaiah's words, Raymond slowly loosened his tie.
Raymond's dark suit was perfectly tailored, accentuating his sharp features, making the surrounding air seem frozen by his presence.
It was clear to everyone that Isaiah was deliberately provoking.
Just when Amelia thought Raymond would get angry, he spoke, "Whether it was intentional, you know deep down."
Raymond stepped forward, each step steady and powerful, the sound of his shoes hitting the floor echoing in the quiet room, like a drumbeat in Amelia's heart.
As he passed Isaiah, he glanced at him with disdain, as if Isaiah were insignificant.
Raymond then crouched in front of Amelia, his movements natural and smooth.
"Where did you hurt? Does it hurt?"
Raymond's voice was deep and magnetic, his calloused palm gently wrapping around Amelia's cold ankle, his fingers pressing lightly through her stockings, checking for injuries, murmuring, "Such a grown-up, yet so careless."
The warm touch of Raymond's fingers on her ankle made Amelia's face flush even more.
Amelia sneaked a glance at Isaiah, who was clenching his fists, his expression twisted with anger at Raymond's actions.
Feeling uneasy, Amelia swallowed hard, struggling to get up, saying, "I'm fine. Why did you suddenly come here?"
Raymond's long fingers remained on her ankle, not letting go immediately.
He slowly raised his head, a dark glint in his eyes, and simply said, "Passing by."
Before the words fully settled, Raymond quickly turned to Isaiah, a mocking smile on his lips, his tone full of ridicule, "But you, why aren't you busy with your big business? What are you doing here?"
This was mocking what Isaiah and Gabriel had been doing recently. Isaiah's eyes flashed with malice, but he quickly replaced it with a standard, gentle smile, though it looked somewhat fake at the moment.
He deliberately dragged out his words, sarcastically saying, "No matter how big the business, it's not as important as you."
Isaiah paused, a hint of malice in his eyes, "But you're so busy, you won't see me, so I have to trouble Amelia with some matters."
There was a clear threat in his words.
Raymond ignored him, so Isaiah went to find Amelia; after all, one of them would always be at his mercy. Raymond, however, was unfazed, mocking, "You might be overthinking. Amelia doesn't even care much when I'm sick, so how could she bother with trivial matters?"
Raymond said, suddenly glancing at Amelia with a hint of complaint. Before Amelia could react, he suddenly reached out, firmly gripping her waist, lifting her,and placing her on a nearby chair.
The intimate and almost domineering gesture seemed to declare some sort of ownership to Isaiah.
Raymond's profile was cold and sharp, his eyes filled with unquestionable authority. Without looking at Isaiah again, he said, "We have things to do. How long are you planning to stay here?"
The intention to drive him away was clear.
Raymond and Amelia, clearly about to engage in some intimate actions, made it inappropriate for Isaiah to stay any longer.
Isaiah gritted his teeth but couldn't say anything more, turning and leaving in frustration.
Once Isaiah's footsteps had completely disappeared down the hallway, Raymond finally released Amelia, creating some distance between them, asking, "Are you okay? Did he do anything to you?"
Amelia shook her head.
"No, he just tried to bribe me. I wonder how he found this place. What did you do to them?"
Amelia looked at Raymond with curiosity.
Raymond snorted. "Those fools. I just cut off a few of their financial sources while they were preparing for a big deal."
Raymond said, rolling up his sleeves, looking down at Amelia.
"And you? Is your leg okay? If you're fine, let's go."
Amelia quickly stood up. "Where to?"
"Where else? To pick up Zoey and Noah from school." Raymond said, not waiting for Amelia's response, and walked out of the office.
Amelia hurriedly followed Raymond's steps.
During Raymond's work period, Noah and Cecil had recovered from their injuries, and Zoey had returned home from the hospital.
With nothing else to do, they sent Zoey and Noah to kindergarten.
Amelia was puzzled why Raymond came to the company to find her when he could have gone directly to the kindergarten.
But Raymond's actions were always mysterious, so Amelia didn't ask further, following him to the kindergarten.
By now, dusk had enveloped the earth, the evening glow painting the sky like a beautiful canvas.
At the kindergarten entrance, children were being picked up by their parents.
Zoey's eyes lit up when she saw Amelia, excitedly running into her arms, her sweet childlike voice filled with joy, "Mommy, you're finally here! I missed you so much!"
Zoey's adorable demeanor melted Amelia's heart.
Noah followed behind, not saying anything, but his expression showed he was happy.
Amelia touched their cheeks, asking, "Did you have fun at school today?"
Zoey shouted, "Yes!"
Then Zoey turned to Raymond, hesitating before asking, "How about you? How have you been? Is your health better?"
