Love Is You

Love Is You
The doors opened, and Raellyn found herself stepping onto the path that led to the altar. Her breath hitched as the soft music of the ceremony enveloped her. Her hands trembled slightly, the faint quiver betraying the storm of nerves that fluttered in her chest.
“Don’t be nervous,” her uncle whispered with a knowing smile. “Look! everyone is waiting for you.”
She lifted her gaze. And there they were.  The two lights of her life.
Arrael, cradled safely, let out a bright, bubbling laugh, as if welcoming his mother to this moment that would be etched into her soul forever. And beside him, standing tall and radiant in his suit, was Arnav—her husband, her anchor, the man who had fought his demons and chosen her a thousand times over. His smile was warm, steady, and full of quiet promise.
In that single glance, everything stilled. The crowd, the music, the weight of the day, all of it faded, leaving only the heartbeat of this small family she had once only dreamed of.
“Yes,” Raellyn whispered to herself, her lips curving in a tender smile.
Yes to love. Yes to this new life. Yes to the happiness she had once thought she would never deserve.
That Night, pride and a quiet, overflowing joy filled Raellyn’s chest as she sat at the grand dining table, her gaze sweeping across the room. Everything was perfect and so achingly, heartwarmingly perfect. This was her other lifelong dream besides the wedding itself: a night where both families would gather under one roof, sharing a meal, laughter, and warmth as if they had always been one.
The corridors of Arnav’s home hummed with life. From the living room came a lively chorus of conversation. Her uncle chatting animatedly with Arsene and Sylvia, joined by her father-in-law’s deep, resonant laughter. Nearby, her cousins, Lita and Gilbert, sat close together, and their soft smiles and shy touches hinted at a blossoming closeness that warmed her heart.
Across the room, Sharon and Louisa were immersed in their own cheerful chatter, their youthful laughter blending harmoniously with the sound of clinking glasses and soft music. They were the youngest among the family members, and it was easy to see how quickly they had grown fond of each other.
Raellyn had braced herself for a flicker of coldness from her mother-in-law that evening, especially when her eyes fell on Arrael in Arnav’s arms. But to her surprise, the older woman’s expression softened instead. Her wide eyes brimmed with awe and wonder, as though she were looking at a tiny miracle she could hardly believe was real.
And Arnav… he did not disappoint her.
He carried their son with an ease that spoke of both pride and devotion, his posture radiating the quiet confidence of a man who had embraced his role as a father and a son in the truest sense. The reconciliation between him and his mother had lit a gentle warmth in the room, a bridge mended after years of silent pain.
Laughter rose and fell like a soft tide. The conversation around the table flowed effortlessly, stories and jokes weaving from one corner to the next. And in that golden glow, Raellyn felt her heart settle into a peaceful rhythm. This was the life she had always dreamed of. Not grandeur, but this: a home filled with laughter, the echo of family, and the sight of the man she loved holding their child with quiet pride.
Busy observing everyone around the table, Raellyn felt a light tap on her shoulder. She turned to find Mrs. Maddy and Rona, the two faithful caretakers of the household, smiling warmly at her. Their gentle presence only deepened the swell of happiness inside her. Truly, there was no day more perfect than this one.
And yet, as joy brimmed in her chest, an unexpected wave of longing rose within her. Thoughts of her parents slipped into her mind unbidden, and emotion threatened to spill over. How she wished they could have been here. Her mother and father, standing among these smiling faces, basking in the warmth of the family she had finally built. Her mother especially… oh, she would have loved everything about this evening. She would have beamed with pride at the sight of her daughter glowing with love and belonging.
From across the room, Arnav noticed the quiet shift in his wife’s expression. He saw the wistful glimmer in her eyes and the way her fingers trembled slightly as she held Arrael. Their son was now cradled safely in her arms, his small body nestled against her as if he could sense her sudden fragility. Seizing the moment, Arnav crossed the room, his presence silent yet magnetic. He reached for her hand with a simple touch, a tender brush of his thumb against her knuckles and gave her the smallest nod. It was all the signal she needed.
Without a word, they slipped away from the lively dining hall, leaving the laughter and chatter behind. Step by step, they retreated down the dimly lit corridor, away from the hum of celebration, until only the quiet rhythm of their breaths and the soft sound of Arrael’s sleepy murmurs accompanied them and in that private escape, Raellyn felt her heart settle with him.
They made their way to the library, a room that carried an entire history of them within its walls. This was the place where it had all begun, where a sudden, almost impulsive ceremony had bound them together as husband and wife. The memory drew a soft, involuntary laugh from Raellyn’s lips.
The room felt sacred to her now, as if it belonged solely to the two of them. It was more than just a library; it was a silent witness to every chapter of their shared story. If their bedroom was the heart of their intimacy, this room was the soul of their bond. Every moment that truly belonged to them seemed to lead back here.
Raellyn wandered to the tall window. The very spot Arnav favored whenever he needed to think or simply breathe. She rested her hand lightly against the cool glass and gazed out. Beyond the pane, the world was silvered under the brilliance of the full moon, which poured its light over the entire estate, making the place glow like a scene from a dream.
This house… once foreign and overwhelming, now felt entirely hers. More than a residence, it was a home because of the love that filled it, because of the man who had turned it into a sanctuary. A quiet, surging happiness bloomed inside her chest, spreading warmth to every corner of her being.
She felt him before she heard him. Strong arms wrapped around her waist, pulling her gently into the solid wall of his chest. His presence was grounding, protective, and intoxicating all at once.
“Are you tired?” Arnav’s murmur brushed against her ear, followed by the tender graze of his lips against the curve of her neck. The soft kiss sent a shiver running through her, as familiar as it was electrifying.
