Yerenika And Noel Plans
Tomorrow was a day that Jacob and Eros' troops could not have imagined. Those who prepared for battle with a weak mentality had to accept the fact that their leader had escaped. An act of cowardice that should not have been done by a nobleman.
"How is this captain? The noble Jacob and Eros escaped," the soldier asked his captain.
"What else? Of course, raise the white flag. We've lost."
The captain was certainly not willing to sacrifice the remaining soldiers for the sake of a coward who ran away. He told all the soldiers to wait for Commander Curtis' arrival and accept any decision the man would give.
...
"Commander, the red flag has been raised at the opposing soldiers' camp. They are surrendering," Samuel reported.
Curtis was happy that the battle ended sooner than he thought.
"They both think lives are toys and meetings are just fun. Release the soldiers but hunt down those two. Cut off their heads as a warning to other nobles who want to play around with the northern territories. "
A cruel and heartless decision. It had been a long time since Curtis had issued such a cruel decision. And as Curtis' loyal subordinate, Samuel gladly carried out his orders.
Samuel and Jason became very busy. The two of them headed towards the camp of Jacob and Eros' soldiers. There, the two of them discussed Curtis' orders.
"I'll leave them with you. Handle all these abandoned soldiers."
Jason nodded. The man without complaint did whatever his senior said.
"Well, I expect you to be careful. Don't let your guard down when hunting them down."
"Yes, of course."
Samuel spurred his horse. Relying on his sense of smell, he hunted for Jacob and Eros. His senses told him that the two men were hiding in his territory.
"Your territory will not be able to protect you from my sword. "
Only, Jacob's smell did not lead to his territory. The man went into the forest instead. Samuel immediately followed the lingering scent of the nobleman. Eventually, he found a hut that looked like a hunter's retreat in the forest.
"Of course he couldn't have gone far."
Samuel jumped onto the roof of the hut. He wanted to scout Jacob's condition first.
"Ugh... you bastard Noel. You kicked my family out when I wasn't in my quarters."
There was a man slumped at the table in a state of despair. His hand was holding a paper from the capital. The paper looked familiar because it was a royal order paper.
'So King Noel has acted too,' Samuel muttered to himself.
'Very well, I will end your suffering. Instead of bearing shame, wouldn't it be better for you to die with honor?" Samuel thought.
The man jumped onto Jacob's roof.
"You!" Jacob pointed at Samuel with both anger and fear.
"Yes, I'm here to give you a choice. Die by suicide or I will kill you?" Samuel bargained.
Jacob laughed desperately. It turned out that Curtis didn't let go at all.
The man's hand trembled as he picked up the knife. He closed his eyes and began to shed tears.
"I wish I hadn't been so rash," Jacob whispered.
After that his body lay on the floor. Samuel watched him without expression or pity. To him, a nobleman who played with the lives of his soldiers was nothing to pity.
Elsewhere, Yerenika and Noel were engaged in a serious conversation. Of course, this had to do with the Prime Minister and royal advisors. Noel's actions were extreme and bold.
"Surely everyone has heard about them," said Yerenika.
"Yes, and tomorrow I'm going to prepare those ears for the protests that the nobles do." Noel began to imagine how noisy they would all be.
"No, there's a way to keep them quiet. Make it look like Curtis is behind you. Surely they will be scared and don't want to experience something similar to the prime minister. Don't forget to use this opportunity to recruit a prime minister who is on your side."
"Yes, I think that's a perfect idea. "
His sister is quite capable in political matters. Yerenika once said that she learned from Swana when Noel was still unconscious. Now he could see the results of his sister's training.
"This means I have to compile a list of nobles that I will appoint as prime ministers and advisors. "
Yerenika took out the list. And it was quite surprising to Noel.
"Don't worry, Swana and I used to sort out which nobles we can attract to our side," Yerenika said with a beaming face.
"Oh my, this is amazing!" Noel said. A difficult job was made easy thanks to Yerenika's list. All of this would make his throne stable.
"We planned this to make your throne strong, Noel. That is why I reminded you not to forget that Swana is the pillar of your throne. She will support you by using her husband's power."
"Yes, I'm glad that you reminded me. I had my doubts."
Their conversation continued into the night. And finally Noel asked about Yerenika's wedding plans.
"Yerenika, there are many proposals from nobles and princes from neighboring kingdoms. What do you think?"
A topic Yerenika hated but couldn't avoid.
"Why are you discussing things that don't matter?" Yerenika grumbled.
"It's important because I don't want you to go marry another royal prince. I want you to stay by my side even after marriage."
Yerenika giggled. Certainly, Noel's attitude was very cute in her eyes.
"If so then we must choose a man from among the nobles of the Sinclair kingdom," Yerenika replied. She couldn't let her brother get distracted because the kingdom's problems were still very complicated.
"Don't you have a man you like?"
Yerenika was silent. The image of a dark-haired, wild-looking but handsome man flashed in her eyes. Unfortunately, he seemed untouchable, because Yerenika was sure that he was a werewolf.
"Forget it, our position does not allow us to marry the person we love. I think you know that rule very well," Yerenika whispered.
Among the nobility, marriage was for political reasons. It was an open secret. All for nothing more than power and family honor.
Noel also understands. Someday, he too would experience the same thing. Marrying to strengthen his position and power.
