Chapter 47

Aleksander’s POV

I had so much fun with Lisa and I was happy that I told the rest to leave. It's been a long time since I had freed myself to enjoy myself so much. I didn't even want it to end but then I had a lot to do. I have been receiving a series of messages. I will make sure Lisa and I return for a nice and long vacation. I didn't regret bringing her along, even though for two weeks I had thought it was my biggest mistake but then I was wrong. It was the best thing I have ever done.

I talked so much with Lisa. I didn't think anyone had made me talk so much the way she did. Not even in my long meetings. They do the talking while I listen and then give my final verdict. I became talkative because I just want to keep hearing her sweet voice.

I couldn't stay with her when we got home because I had a lot of issues waiting for me to attend to them. I sent her to my room. I wasn't going to let her be apart from me. She will stay with me from now on.

"Didn't I tell you to handle that?" I told one of the Betas.

" I did but they were so stubborn and didn't want to yield to me" he replied, already trembling.

Now I'm back to my cold self. The real me. I frowned at the stupid excuse he gave me. Not that I didn't know that those people will behave stubbornly and wouldn't want to pay the King's tax but then it was a little matter to me

"Don't you know what should have been done?" I asked glaring at him.

" I do your highness but then, I was waiting for you to go ahead," he said bowing.

" Why will you wait for my ho ahead on such a stupid matter? If you don't sort it out before dawn, I will make sure you eat the sad for days" I said firmly.

The Beta I told almost peed on his body because he knew what I meant and I don't say what I don't mean. That was how I was attending to some stupid matters. I didn't know why I even allowed them to talk to me because they were all so annoying. But after bawling and frowning, they finally said something that made a whole lot of sense.

"Your Highness, it's about time for the King's celebration. What are you going to do about it this year?" One of the councils of elders asked me.

I sighed thinking about the King's celebration and a smile crept to my lips. I know this be shocking to those that are seated. One is for the smile and the other is for the celebration.

The King's celebration is one of the celebrations I hated most in my life aside from my coronation as the Alpha King and I have avoided it for decades. Till now no one knew that I hated to be Alpha king. I didn't want to take the position of my father because of the way he had treated everyone. He made people's lives miserable and I didn't want to continue with it. Being that, the king must have this celebration with his Luna beside him, so I ordered them not to hold it. Then I wasn't interested in having a Luna, so I will use my power as the Alpha King to make them cancel the celebration. I didn't know why they wouldn't stop reminding me year after year when they would get the same reply. I know that this year's reply would shock them because I wasn't going to avoid it like before.

"When is it supposed to hold?" I asked.

They were so shocked that some even opened their mouths to show how shocked they were. I wasn't even moved by their reaction. I was too happy to mind them.

"Is everyone here home deaf?" I asked firmly.

They all started to speak at once for fear of what I would do to them.

"None of you is making sense" I snapped and there was silence. " Now who is speaking to?" I asked with a blank face.

A face that will definitely argue that I'm the one who smiled earlier.

"It's in two months, your Highness" an elder replied.

Thinking about the time, it was fair enough. It would give me time to get married and crown my Queen and then the party.

"Then let's do it," I said to them.

They had not yet recovered from their shock and I now dropped another. I felt like laughing at their shocked faces. If Lisa was here, I would definitely have laughed out so loud because her laughter is contagious.

"But your highness, you don't have a Queen" I was reminded.

" That's before but I do have now," I said to them.

I could see that their faces lit up and they also seemed happy for me. Well, I don't blame them for getting happy. I have frustrated them a lot with this celebration. I also have reduced my privileges because I refused to have this celebration. any wouldn't want to listen to me because I haven't been appearing as their King yearly but then I had made them feel the heat of my rage.

But now I want to be a proper king with my Luna Queen beside me.

"Your Highness, do you mind telling who your intended Queen is?"

I frowned at that question. I wasn't ready for them to know who my Queen is. I didn't want them to start condemning her.

"I do mind. You will know her when the time comes" I said to them.

They know me better than to argue with me. Well on this occasion, we ended the meeting and headed to my room to see the woman I am about to make mine forever.

"Are you really planning to crown Lisa as your Queen?" Nicholas asked me as we left.

He and Ava were beside me as my Betas.

"Who else do you have in mind that I crown aside my mate?" I asked him with a gruff voice.

I didn't know whether he was asking because he wanted to be sure or because he was trying to oppose my opinion.

"Hey chill man. I was only asking so as to congratulate you, not to take your woman from you" he said to me in disdain.

Seeing that I was caught in jealousy, I frowned.

"I don't need it," I snapped.

Nicholas laughed and I glared at him and he didn't even stop laughing. Well, he is my brother and they don't really get scared of me like others.

"I want both of you to start my wedding preparations. You know she needs to learn our etiquette, so I put you two in charge. Make sure there's nothing left out in these'' I ordered.

" Yes your Highness"

" Yes your Highness"

The two chorused but then Ava's voice was low. I looked at her and gave her a frown.

"And you, stop brooding over Chris, he is not worth it," I said to her.

She hasn't been herself and I know it's because of how Chris ended. She still loves the guy who would rather die because of a woman. I didn't even know what was wrong with her. She chose the wrong one to fall in love with.

"I'm not brooding over Chris" she grumbled.

" Then prove that to me," I said to her and then walked away.

I could hear them mocking me, calling me lover boy but I do not care. I want to go meet my woman and break this beautiful news to her.

Well thinking about that, my heart skipped a bit. I know she is my mate but then she also has a say in this matter. I can't force her to marry me if she is not ready to. This then became my fear. I had already told them that preparation should start and now I'm scared that my woman would reject me.

"Be confident Aleksander. She's our mate and she can't reject bonding with us" my wolf scolded me.

I tried to trust what he said as I walked into our room. When I got there, she was already asleep and I just adjusted the quilt to cover her body and went to get ready for the night.

"We will talk about it tomorrow morning," I said in my heart.

Nicholas’s POV

I was happy for Alek because he wanted to finally bond with his mate but then, u thought about Victoria. She has always had Alek in her heart and I wonder if Alek was intentionally pretending not to know and ignoring all her gestures or if he was truly ignorant.

My brother isn't that dumb not to know that Victoria has feelings for him all the while. I know that he didn't lead her on and only took care of her like a sister but then I didn't blame the poor girl for falling in love with him. Alek too was too caring and there's no woman who wouldn't have a warm heart for such a man.

Many who don't know Alek well enough will think that he is a cold-blood one, well sometimes he can be but then, he also has this human feeling inside he rarely takes action and always wants everyone to be fine.

I know how sad Victoria would be if she hears that Alek is getting married and the one he was planning to married to is not her. So before she started to hear it from an outsider and be broken-hearted, he decided to tell her himself. He then went to her room.

"What do you want by this time of the day?" Victoria asked me with an angry look.

" So sorry to disturb you. Were you asleep?" I asked her.

I had totally forgotten that it was night already. I wasn't even thinking before I went to her room. I didn't even know what was wrong with me.

"What do you expect? Just tell me what you want?" She snapped.

Well, Victoria had always been like this to me since she got to our pack. Many had even thought that he was harsh on me because she liked me. I believed it at some point until I saw her fall so hard for my brother and till now, I didn't know the reason she's been mean to me.

"I'm sorry. I just thought I should tell you something before you heat it outside" I said calmly

Victoria is family to me, so no matter how harshly she behaves, I don't get angry and I am even used to it.

"What?" She asked me with an inquisitive look.

"Well we can't stand by the door talking," I said.

She then made way for me to enter. I entered and sat on her sofa.

"What do you want to talk about? It can't wait till morning," she asked me firmly.

I sighed. I didn't even know how to start breaking the news to her. I know she's going to be so heartbroken but then it is something she's supposed to know about. It is better for her to know now than her knowing later. At least I can console her and she will move on faster.

"Sit. What I'm about to tell you will require you to sit" I said to her.

I didn't want her pouncing on me or fainting.

She gave me a look that tells me that I'm exaggerating things. I know she will be the one to know if I'm truly exaggerating or not. She sat down reluctantly and kept looking at me.

"Alek is getting married," I said to her.

The way she looked at me made me know that I was right. It was going to be a shock to her. It was as if she stopped breathing.

"Vic! Vic! Vic!" I called her but then I didn't get any answer.

I quickly stood up and went to her. I shook her and she looked at me.

"What did you just say?" She asked me in a shaky voice.

" Victoria, you have to calm down," I said to her.

She just looked at me and said nothing and tears glistened in her eyes. I know she was sad.

"Who is he getting married to?" She asked me.

Her face was already pale and I prayed that she wouldn't collapse.

"Lisa," I replied.

I know that she doesn't like Lisa but then it is the reality and she needed to wake up from her own dream. I would have allowed Ava to break the news to her but then Ava is in a good and I know she would never be gentle with Victoria. I didn't want Victoria to run into depression because she is sad.

Victoria didn't say anything. She just stared into the space. I know she's having a long thought.

"You can cry if you want to," I said to her.

" Why should I cry?" She asked with a stiff smile

Wow! I didn't expect her to be this calm. Although her face was showing sorrow by then she was controlling it. I shouldn't be surprised, Victoria is a strong woman and she always tries to fight through things.

"Vic, I know you feel sad. You can't hide things from me. I've always known how you feel about Alek but I didn't say anything because I had hoped he would look at you but now that he decided to marry his mate, you should at least accept it and move on" I said calmly.

I know she has a temper. I didn't want her shouting in the middle of the night. I just want her to accept this. The sooner she does, the better.

"Did Alek tell you he is getting married or you are just asking things?" She asked me

I know she might have little hope in her heart. I just pity her poor self for falling in love with Alek.

"He told me himself and he didn't only tell me, he told the whole council of elders" I replied to her.

I know Alek hasn't announced a wedding to the council but he already insinuated it. What he said alone was a clue to what he actually meant.

"He is going to crown that maid Luna Queen?" She asked me.

She was trying so hard to keep her tone calm but she was failing. The agitation in her voice was so evident.

"Yes, and he is going to marry her in two months. Just bury your feelings for him. You are beautiful and I'm sure you will find yourself a good man" I said to her.

I stood up, I was done with what I came to do.

"Good night," I said and started walking away. As I got to the door, she spoke.

"You are mistaken, I don't have feelings for Alek. The only feeling is like a younger sister to a brother. I might not really like the girl because she is a maid and she might just be looking for where to fix herself if she's Alek's choice, I also don't have a choice but to wish them good luck. So don't have any wrong ideas Nicholas and good night" she said with a plain voice.

I walked out of her room not knowing who she was trying to deceive. Was it me or herself? I know what I saw and I was sure of it. I am happy that she would at least get on with her life and let Alek be.
