Chapter Twelve
Karla did her best not to squirm in her seat as she drove to Aimee’s office, but it was almost impossible. Mitch left her ass stinging and her pussy dripping. She couldn’t believe she allowed him to spank her. Spank her! Again. With Lloyd right outside the back door. And she hadn’t even broken one of his silly rules yet.
And the bay door stood wide open!
Oh god, I wonder how many people heard or even saw me being spanked like a child.
Yet, it didn’t feel like it did when she was little. Her father spanked her plenty of times when she was in elementary school, because of her mouth or grades or sassy behavior. Those spankings she dreaded, not enough to change her actions, of course, but still, she hated when it happened. This, however, with Mitch, was… hot, even more so than a couple of weeks ago when he spanked her while fucking her. She could still feel the wetness between her legs and clamped them shut to feel the pressure on her clit. Her ass burned a little, and she wanted him to take her right then, regardless of the bay doors being open or Lloyd possibly interrupting. The fact that he shooed her out the door annoyed her, and she found herself already wanting to break his rules just to receive more of his hand. She needed to be fucked, but she chose to be the good girl for once. Aimee’s office should be the distraction she needed to cool her down, like cold water on a burning fire. By the time Karla pulled into the business parking lot of her sister’s work, her roaring flames of passion were reduced to sizzling steam.
The law offices of Benson & Taylor were plush, if not extravagant. Aimee worked for them before she moved to Gainesville to attend college, and then again when she returned to help take care of their dying father. Ginny Taylor made sure to take care of Karla’s twin, sometimes acting more like a sister to Aimee than Karla ever did. Currently, the woman was helping Aimee’s new boyfriend, Clint, with his case against his wife. It was all a jumbled mess as far as Karla was concerned, something she would have steered clear of, but Aimee was gaga over Clint, and Karla, while she may not understand it, always had Aimee’s back. The twins fought with each other, but no one else better dare even look at the other one wrong.
Piano music whispered as Karla entered the offices. Aimee was tucked behind a wall at her desk, punching away at the keyboard. The wall, a barrier people could peek over, but not view Aimee directly or what she looked at, existed more for privacy than anything else. Aimee’s head barely poked over the top, letting people know she was there. Karla would have preferred to hide even more if it were her job, but being the receptionist, she supposed Aimee had to talk to people once in a while. One sister dealt with drunks, the other with criminals. Karla saw them at the beginning, while Aimee attempted to salvage them at the end. Karla preferred her end of things.
“What’s up, sister of mine? You ready for lunch yet?” Karla placed her arms on the wall around Aimee’s desk and, pushing up on her tiptoes, peered over at her sister.
Aimee finished what she worked on, and then leaned back in her chair to face her sister. “It’s only eleven thirty. I can’t take lunch yet.”
“Why not? It’s close enough.”
“Because it’s too early, that’s why. Why are you here? I thought you’d still be sleeping since you work tonight.”
Karla shrugged, or at least attempted to shrug. It was hard to do when her arms were raised a little too high on the wall that hid her sister. “I stopped by Mitch’s. His rules bugged me, and I needed to find out what he meant. Now I’m awake and hungry.”
“And what are his rules?” Aimee asked, placing her forearms one on top of the other as she leaned on her desk.
“Basically, I can sleep with whoever I want, as long as I let him know, and I’m not allowed to get emotionally involved with anyone besides him.”
Aimee’s mouth popped open a bit. “He gave you permission to screw around? That’s his idea of a commitment? Seems like he’s figured you out and is just making it easier for you to fail.”
“Hey now, I could succeed and prove you all wrong,” Karla said with a huff. Aimee just stared at her until Karla blew out a resigned breath. “Okay, okay. I’ll fail. I always fail. I warned him, though. I told him I didn’t do relationships, but he’s just like everyone else. He thinks he’s the one who can make an honest woman out of me.”
“I highly doubt that. He gave you permission to have sex with other people. He knows you won’t be an honest woman. He’s just accepting it and preparing for it.”
“Yeah, what’s up with that?” She shook her head. “Why would a guy do that?”
“Maybe he wants to screw around, as well, and this is his way of accomplishing it. If he allows you to cheat, then you can’t yell at him for cheating.”
“Ha! Most guys want to screw around. They just don’t want their girl doing it as well. What’s more, I’m fine with my double standards. Just because I do it, doesn’t mean he’ll get away with it. Still, he’s confusing me more than I usually tolerate.”
“And yet, you keep going back,” Aimee said with a grin.
“Yeah, what the hell is wrong with me?”
Aimee shrugged. “You like him. Nothing wrong with that. You just need to admit it and give him a chance.”
“I’ve given people chances before and it never went well.”
“That’s because you weren’t ready, and they weren’t the right guys. I really think it’s different with Mitch.”
Karla cocked her head and narrowed her eyes at her sister. “Why?”
“Because even though you fuss and fume at his demands, you still do them. Hell, you even bought him dinner the other night. In the past, most guys who pulled that would have been told to go to hell by now and you would have moved on to the next one.”
Karla had to admit Aimee was right. She never took orders from men. That ended in high school. So why did she give in to Mr. Mitch Greenway? There was nothing in it for her, no immediate gratification or even a long-term goal in mind. This wasn’t how she did things. She growled and Aimee just laughed. Karla decided to change the subject. “Did you get my text this morning?”
Aimee sighed. “Yeah. What the hell is that woman’s problem? She knows Clint works during the day. What did she think? That he would leave little Abby there by herself? Asinine.”
“Well, no one ever said Bonnie had brains. Although, she did scare that old busybody, Miss Fowler, this morning. I’ve never seen that woman slink back into her apartment that way.” She laughed at the memory.
“Now that would have been fun to watch.” Aimee laughed as well. Then her mood changed. “I really wish I knew what to do. I mean, she is Abigail’s mother, and she’s married to Clint. Should I step back and see if they can fix it?”
“Why the hell would you do that? Has Clint even hinted he wanted her back?”
Aimee shook her head, and Karla knew her sister just struggled with her always-do-the-right-thing personality. Yet, walking away from Clint was not the right thing to do here. Bonnie had her chance and blew it, and while Karla could relate to the woman’s actions to some degree, Bonnie didn’t deserve a second chance. Karla wouldn’t expect to be given one, so why should Bonnie? “Because she’s Abigail’s mother,” Aimee answered. “How can I ask the girl to go through life without her mother?”
“You didn’t. Bonnie left, remember? What does Ginny say?”
“That it’s going to be a hard road since Clint didn’t file for divorce on abandonment issues.” Aimee gave a sad shake of her head, and Karla felt sympathy for her sister and anger for Clint.
“The fact that she ran off doesn’t matter?”
“Not as much as the fact that she’s back and wanting to repair things.”
“So, what are you going to do?”
Aimee shook her head again. “I wish I knew. I really wish I knew.” She sat there looking defeated.
Karla wished she knew what to say, but this was one area where she had no clue how to help her sister. Aimee would have to figure this out for herself. Like I’m going to have to figure out what to do with Mitch myself.
Since Aimee couldn’t leave work yet, Karla decided to mooch lunch off her mother. At least her mom should have some lunch meat. Not Karla’s favorite choice, but hey, free food was free food.
The drive was anything but quiet, however. Karla’s mind would not shut off. Images of Mitch’s garage, the feeling of his hand on her ass, his rules. She wasn’t sure she could do it. She wasn’t sure she even wanted to try. She sighed. She had never allowed men to get under her skin before, so why now? Why him? It infuriated her. She still wondered about the sensibility of it all when she reached her mother’s door. Gripping the doorknob, she twisted and entered… Only she didn’t. Her body hit the door hard from the momentum of her pace.
What the..? Her mother never locked her front door when she was home, and from the sound of music coming from inside, her mother was definitely home. Karla knocked on the door. “Mom! You okay?” She leaned against the door, her ear pressed against the wood, straining to hear what she could from inside. She heard giggling.
Her mother didn’t giggle. She knocked harder. “Mom!”
The music went silent, and Karla could hear shuffling on the other side of the door. Karla pressed her ear to the door again to listen but jerked away when she heard the lock being twisted. When her mother opened the door, she was wearing a robe, tied loosely around her waist, and her hair was a tangled mess.
“Oh, Karla, hey, what are you doing here?” Her mother tried to tighten the robe a bit and fingered her hair a little in a weak attempt to straighten the chaos, but it didn’t help.
“Um, I came by to see if you wanted company for lunch, but I see someone’s a little busy.” She felt the grin creep across her lips. “Who’s the lucky fella?” She tried to peek around the door, but her mother kept it shut, blocking Karla’s view inside. “Ohh, keeping him to yourself, huh?”
“It’s not a good time for lunch,” her mother said quickly, her breathing ragged. “Why don’t we make plans for dinner, instead?”
“But I want to see what you’re eating now.” Karla tried to push her way in, but her mother had her foot behind the door, bracing it in place to keep her daughter out. “Hello!” Karla yelled into the crack of the open door. “How’s it going in there? Do you need rescuing? Cough if you’re in danger.” She started laughing the more she said, knowing she tormented her mother.
“Will you behave?” her mother hissed, as she tried to shush Karla with a wave of her hand, her other one holding firm to the door. She sent a furtive glance back inside, panic mixed with annoyance showed on her face. When she turned her focus back to her daughter, she eased up on the door slightly without realizing it, opening the crack just a tad more.
On the recliner, which used to be Karla’s father’s favorite chair, was a leather golf hat.
Karla stared, unable to take her eyes off the hat. “Mom?”
Betty Harper glanced at her daughter, her expression shifting from worried to confused. She followed Karla’s gaze with her own until she spotted the hat. She closed her eyes and sighed, her shoulders slumping. With a deep breath, she stood straighter, obviously ready to face her daughter’s wrath. “Look, Karla, I know…”
“What the hell are you doing at my mom’s house?” Karla shoved the door open, forcing her way into her mother’s home, ready to kick Paul’s ass.
Paul stood by the kitchen counter wearing only his boxers, some lame superhero design that only looked childish on a grown man. His eyes widened as she stormed toward him, his hands out, ready to hold off any attack Karla threw at him. “Now, Karla, let’s not do anything stupid here.”
Betty raced after her daughter, throwing herself between Karla and Paul, her hands out, stopping Karla from reaching her intended target. “Karla, I have a right to my own life.” She held onto Karla’s shoulders, but Karla wasn’t even looking at her. Instead, she stared at her boss—and former booty call—ready to rip his family jewels from their hanging place. “Karla! You have no right to interfere.”
Karla jabbed a finger in Paul’s direction, one that would have pierced his chest if she was allowed close enough. “You fucked my mother? You ignorant…selfish… If I don’t let people sleep with both Aimee and me, you can damn well bet that it goes for my mother as well.”
“Karla, I didn’t just…” Paul started, but Betty Harper cut him off.
“What I do and with whom is none of your business,” Betty told her daughter. She then dropped her hands and turned to take Paul’s. “Besides, I kinda like him.”
Karla rolled her eyes. “Oh my god, I think I’m going to throw up.” She turned and started walking toward the front door. She couldn’t put up with this. First, Mitch and his bizarre rules, then Bonnie beating the hell out of Clint’s door, bringing that drama to Karla’s doorstep, and now she finds her boss stiffing it to her mother. This was so not the way she saw her day going.
Her mother called out for her to wait, but Karla just couldn’t. She didn’t need more evidence that even her mother was having more fun than her. She just needed to get out of there. It was definitely time to start day drinking.
