Chapter 71 Chapter 71
Amber
“If only your brain worked as much as your mouth, it would save me a lot of trouble.” Damian continued in that arrogant tone of his that made my blood boil.
I raised a hand to hit him, but my punch might as well have been a feather because he didn’t even blink while I was howling badly.
I gingerly cradled the hand that had hit him with the other uninjured hand, blowing air on my fingers.
“You didn’t have to do that…” Damian spoke but I glared at him.
“Yeah because you are literally made of stone both inside and outside”
His gaze narrowed and I was mentally preparing for another comeback to throw at him when I noticed Mark was moving toward Damian again, his fist already drawn back.
Damian's hand shot out without him even turning his head, caught Mark's wrist mid-swing, twisted it at an angle that made me wince, and delivered a brutal punch to his jaw with his free hand.
Mark went down hard, his head bouncing off the floor with a crack that sounded painful even over the music.
"Do you have a death wish?" Damian rounded on me again, stepping closer, crowding into my space. "Because I'm starting to think you're actively trying to get yourself hurt!"
"I didn't ask you to keep saving me! I didn't ask for any of this!" My voice cracked and I hated myself for it. "You're the one who keeps showing up, keeps interfering, and showing up wherever I was”
He let out a harsh laugh. "It was you who begged me to train you, you who begged me to share my room when I told you multiple times to stay away from me…”
Mark apparently did have a death wish because he was up again, one swollen eye glaring and I cursed under my breath.
“Oh for fuck’s sake!” I shouted and kicked out, my heels landing right in between his legs where the sun didn’t shine and Damian’s mouth was left hanging open for a second as Mark groaned, clutching his balls and going down on the floor again.
“You fucking asshole!” I gritted my teeth and delivered another kick to him, making him yelp out in pain again.
“Get lost, you sick motherfucker!” I screamed at him and tried hitting him again but my heel got caught in something.
Then two hands came around me, pulling me away.
“Ok enough” Damian spoke in my ears but I was so angry, so annoyed that I wanted to hit someone who would howl in pain unlike Damian the rock.
“Enough, Red!” He repeated, his voice growing louder as he literally held me by the waist and lifted me off the ground like a toddler.
“Leave me” I said as I felt his hands sliding up because I was struggling to spring free and almost gasped when his arm brushed the underside of my breasts.
He finally freed me and I tumbled out of his grip and onto the floor but that only reignited my fury. I was sooo mad at him.
We were standing so close I could see the flecks of darker silver in his eyes, could feel the heat radiating off his body, could count each harsh breath that moved his chest.
His gaze dropped to my mouth, lingering there for a fraction of a second that felt like an eternity.
Then he grabbed my wrist and started pulling me toward the exit.
"What are you doing?" I stumbled after him, my heels making it hard to keep up with his longer stride.
"Taking you somewhere you won't get yourself killed."
"I don't want to go with you"
"Too bad. You're drunk, you're being hunted, and you clearly can't be trusted to make good decisions tonight."
“Didn’t you see how I kicked that guy in the balls?” I said, my voice sounding drunken to my own ears.
“Yeah, almost made me recoil in fear” He said flatly and I jumped up, climbing on his back and bit him on the neck.
“Ow, you feral..” He hissed and slammed me into the wall beside us but just then I received a call from Ellie. She didn’t bother saying hi or hello and got straight to the point.
“Where are you?”
“Let go of me” I shouted at Damian and Ellie was screaming already.
“Who is with you? Wait, we are all coming. Stay on the line!”
I heard her scream for Jess and Maya as I struggled uselessly against his hold.
And then two minutes later, the trio arrived looking all angry and murderous. Damian’s back was to them and Ellie had grabbed an empty bottle from somewhere that she raised high in the air and struck Damian’s head.
“Leave her alone!” She shouted and my eyes widened in fear as I saw the glass bottle crumble down into hundreds of shards and pieces, raining down Damian’s head.
Damian only winced a little as he slowly turned to look at Ellie whose face blanched on seeing him.
“I’m gonna throw all of you in the dungeons, bloody maniacs!” He swore under his breath.
“You…you…let go of her!!” Ellie swallowed and despite my drunken state I stared at her with blatant appraisal.
“Damn, that was a nice shot, Ellie.” She had always been so meek and afraid of her strength so it felt nice to see her take on someone ten times her strength.
Ellie smiled at me sheepishly. “I…tried”
Damian only cocked an eyebrow and looked from her to me. “Want to give a congratulatory speech while you’re at it?”
I immediately shook my head and his eyes flicked to Jess and Maya who were also holding empty bottles but lowered their hands instantly upon seeing his lethal gaze.
“Don’t hurt Ellie” I said to him, in a mix of a warning and plea.
He ignored me but kept holding my wrist and looked back at Ellie.
“She is drunk and a guy almost forced himself upon her so I think it's good to take her back to her room.”
Ellie, who clearly had grown some nerves due to alcohol, spoke.
“We will take her back. She doesn’t need you. She…she told me everything about…”
She began but stopped when I widened my eyes at her in warning. “Don’t”
